West Seneca residents call for change

I've noticed there a two types of people against this. Clueless rightwing nutjobs who don't even live in West Seneca and the politicians in jeopardy of losing their tax leeching jobs.

What's your point? You've made one superficial point regarding OUR town government and now everybody else is clueless or a nut job.
Calling other people names is a lousy debate.
Why do you think Buffalo and Lackawanna are so dysfunctional? It just might be that their councils are enslaved by the political machine. If you don't think that's going to happen in OUR town then continue to call people names instead of paying attention

Let the Residents of West Seneca Vote on the matter. Let THEM make up THEIR OWN minds as to what should be done. Let "THE PEOPLE" be HEARD!

don't count your chickens just yet, There are many people who want transparency and accountability. People who know name calling is the real obstacle to progress.

You mean if we had less pols we wouldn't have them sitting around dreaming up brilliant ideas (like tearing up beautiful neighborhoods to change lights and then raise taxes in the name of saving money?) WHAT I am saying is look at New YORK state over the last 10 years or so we have [ had 3 people running this state and all the power was held by those 3 people and THEY RAN THIS STATE ,[ YES 3 PEOPLE ran this state ] so what will happen when 3 people run this town? THERE Will not be anybody to go to to ask why this or that is going on , all they will say is " thats the way it is , deal with it " // Take a look at the smallest town in ERIE CO { BRANT] and how the SUP' wants to controll everything. at least with 5 people on the Board you maybe able to talk to one of them. with 3 the POWER will go to their heads.

P.S. In BRANT they still have 5 board members and the top 3 and the SUP. control the town and they do it and thumb their noeses at the tax payers , we will do what we want and the hell with you , { your the one that is going to pay for it.]

P.S.S. I live and pay taxes in west seneca and also own a house in brant and pay taxes threr too.

Daniel your argument is not persuasive enough.

Unanimous decisions regarding zoning leading to one member holding out for exchanges for a vote is not very far from our current three member majority having to deal with convincing one of two holdout members.

The second argument about open meetings seems to suggest that whenever two meet it must be open to public view and/or discussion, debate. Isn't this great for more transparent government.

Furthermore, wouldn't fewer members just reduce not only salaries and benefits but the amount of expensive projects they dream up to add to their list of "accomplishments" e.g. the lighting district changes i mentioned in a previous post.

Actually you have no guarantte that it will reduce cost. I bet you that if the number of boardmembers are reduced you will see the remaining three using it as a reason to increase their pay by saying that they are now doing the work of 5 or hiring more clerical staff.

If you do not like how the Town Board members spend then don't re-elect them. If you think you can do better than run for that position.

If you want substantive change lets talk about eliminating the receiver of taxes and planning board, merging with another bordering town or city (Lackawanna was once part of West Seneca). Lets talk about getting State Legislation passed to permit Towns to eliminate the Zoning Board of Appeals.

If you think nothing gets done in town now, you will see less done if the board is reduced. The gridlock will increase and things will move at an even slower pace.

I don't mean to but in on your point, but New York has used the Three men in a room formula since 1938. Recently Carl Palidino called for a New york Constitutional convention. That is the only way to break the "three men in a room".
