What is wrong with her parents? Are they THAT money hungry that they would allow exposure of their 15 year old daughter like that? Where are the family morals?

Would you (meaning parents of children) allow ANY photo shot of your daughter like she had? You may not think much of it but, what about the child molesters who sees the photos that crave stuff like this. All it does is help drive the molesters more to find young victims and do the unthinkable to them. Even just a bare back with a sheet covering up the front can trigger a dream in the molesters mind. Think about it...

Well put Chuck!
First, I want to say, I think the picture was beautiful. I am a straight woman, but I can appreciate the beauty of another woman.
HOWEVER, this is NOT a woman, but a CHILD!
And, yes, you probably would see more of her on the beach, but that is another context.
The picture is designed to be racy. With the sheet covering the front like that, it is a highly suggestive pose.
Being on the beach is one thing, posing in such a manner is another.
Second, this child is a role model for many other children.
And make no mistake about it, just because they have curves, if they are under 18, they are CHILDREN.
Her parents and the people of Vanity Fair magazine should have their heads examined.
As to child molestors, yes, I'm sure there are some that go to the beach to get their jollies. In that case, the problem is with them. Putting children in suggestive poses is like waving a sign to child molestors: COME AND GET IT!

I agree with these two. I saw the pictures and I think adults should not be taking 15 year olds picture in this way. She looks like she is in bed wrapped up in a sheet like she is ready for something. Or just had something. Anyways, her hair is messy and I think they are disgusting. Miley Cyrus made a mistake and regrets it and I could forgive her, this first and only time. Her parents should be more careful too.

the difference is, at the time, Brooke Shields was not a "hot" teen idol, giving concerts and being a huge teen role model.
Same thing goes for Jodie Foster in her movies "Taxi Driver" and "Foxes."

Bottom line this is child pornography. This is a slap in the face to any child who was a victim to child pornography. I am outraged that her parents would allow these pictures. Ms. Cyrus's act seems to promote child pornography. In response to the comments above, to think this is a beautiful work of art and not child porn because she had a sheet on. Get REAL. She is a 15 yr old child posing naked.
Just because she posed for a high profile magazine and was paid well, this is suppose to make it art??? Should every child predator be allowed to call this art??? I am disappointed and disgusted with her, her family and this magazine company.

I have a 9 year old daughter and I will stop purchasing anything related to Hannah Montana. I am so tired of irresponsible celebrities!
My 9 year old daugher asked me if this meant that she couldn't watch Hannah Montana anymore, I must say I told her that was not what it meant. As long as she is fully clothed on the Disney Channel, which I am sure she always will be, I do not have a problem with my daugher watching her. People today are way to emotional and sensitive.

Why is everyone so surprised? Her family is looking at her with dollar signs in their eyes--she is nothing more than another Brittany--How would she know the difference between "artsy' and smut?-These are the kind of people that go to a Family Reunion to meet a future spouse--

I am an actress and hope to be famous like miley one day, you people and the press should stop putting her down! big deal she had a photo shoot! I have two twin daughters whom both love Hannah Montana, i will let them keep loving her too. She did nothing wrong. I bet some of you had your kids young too. Shes a young girl trying to find out her life, so back the hell off! You are only saying this becasue she is a celebrity if she was just a 15 year old girl off the street you would not say a word! and you cannot deny that one bit. Now can you?

Stop doing "wink wink" stories like the "Avenue Q" billboard, and take a hard look at the Miley Cyrus nude photo story. As an educator, this is a strong example of the adult forces our children are subject to. How in the name of god did that picture ever get taken? This girl is an idol to American pre-teen girls and now their parents have to sit them down and try to explain the American corporate, "let's objectify women" mentality that endangers all young people. Shameful, and yet, not surprising!

chuck, i couldn't agree with you more...you don't have to sexualize a 15 year old girl...dear lord...let her be the child that she is...and quite frankly...the picture with her and her dad ..where she is lying by her dad...is uncomfortable to look at.....what were her parents thinking?? i have a 14 year old step daughter...and there is no way that she would pose with a silk sheet on her bare back..you just don't do that.....it is called common sense....but sometimes common sense isn't so common....

maybe YOU would not speak up for a 15 year old on the street being sexually exploited (and shame on you), but others will and DO!
Your statement "she's a young girl trying to find out her life," is very true. SO WHAT WERE THE ADULTS AROUND HER THINKING ABOUT?????
They are supposed to watch over her, not permit her to have soft porn photos taken of her.
And "Tired" I would say the same thing of any child I saw posing like that.
after all, child abuse is everybody's business.

Well said! 15 year olds will indeed try to figure out their lives but the average teen doesn't know which end is up, although they certainly think they do. It's the duty of the responsible adults in their lives to guide them, not exploit them!

Adult market magazines using kids in provocative poses? Is that ONLY inappropriate behavior?

http://pacificgatepost.blogspot.com/2008/04/l...

Adult executives know better. They just don’t seem to DO better.

There is nothing innocent about an adult magazine portraying a 15 year old pretending to be naked, hair tousled, wrapped in a bed sheet.

The photo that everyone is oh so concerned about is very artistic, tasteful, sensual, and beautiful. If there is any possible reason for concern, it might be with the photo of this girl with her father. That, to me, was so much more sexual (strange) than a pretty young woman in a sheet.

Oh, knock it off! As an almost-40-year-old mother of two impressionable little girls who absolutely adore this lovely young lady, I have absolutely no objections to the photo, which was clean and tasteful and simply shows her back! Enough already! Had somebody not said to the poor child, "What were you thinking?" she wouldn't feel embarassed and the press wouldn't be making such an absurd issue of it! Aren't there more important issues in the world than a single lovely photo of a pretty girl who's grounded and intelligent and is making ALL THE RIGHT CHOICES with her newfound early fame and wealth? I applaud her parents.
I couldn't agree more! Good for you for teaching your daughters that beauty is a wonderful gift. Also for recognizing that Miley is a strong independent woman, capable of making choices of her own. By the way, to all the critics out there... What if it had been a MAN showing his bare back? Would that have been so hyper-sexualized? I doubt it. I would bet that not one word would have been said, and no one would have even thought the word " **** ". It is time that this country moves beyond its horrible double standard.

Obviously, you have had your thoughts triggered. Photos do not create child molesters. One can see more skin in Glamour, Cosmo, or a Victoria's Secret catalog. Not everyone may be as simple as you.

how sad, I think you need to be enlightened on a couple of things. First, Miley is not a woman, but a minor child. Second, objection is NOT about her back, but the way the sheet is covering up her front: in a soft porn way. With her bare back showing, it is clear that she is nude under the sheet.
As for the word ****, nobody has suggested it, only you. The objection to the picture is the fact that there are way too many child sexual molestors out there, and this picture is just suggestive for a 15 year old.
As to showing a MAN'S bare back: a man does not have breasts. So out goes your theory of a double standard.
