Just trying to fix another corrupted, so called "news" story, spewed by the propoganda machine, WIVB.

How will these cameras stop crime? Are they gonna detach themselves from their telephone poles to save the day? Oh wait, I forgot, they are useless and only an invasion of privacy and a welcome mat for lazy police work and government.

I'll agree with you that these cameras will not do a darned thing to stop crime. Not a darned thing. However, when a person is walking down a public street or sidewalk......there is no reasonable expectation of privacy. I have no idea where people think a right to privacy exists in this country. In some European countries, yes....here no.

I totally agree with you NY, there is no right to privacy on the street. I think the cameras are a good idea to HELP catch criminals AFTER the fact. Maybe eventually they will help DETER crime if they are effective. If people are concerned about privacy on the street, they must be doing something wrong. I will draw the line at them wanting a camera IN my HOME though.

Camera's would actually help if they had enough dispatchers monitoring them and also enough police to respond. Otherwise, they may be helpful after the fact or scare little punks.

So far the cameras have caught a few men from a distance...walking...no facial features. They could be my brothers, but I can't see much regarding them from the photos!
So....who have they caught since they first arrived last Sept.? Any stats?
Stemming crime...that is propaganda for the suckers in Buffalo that want to believe that they might embrace complete safety.. which will never happen.
Too much money is to be made with crime!
The court salaries and the cop salaries are way too good to keep crime at bay!
Move away or pray for a metal house and GOOD LUCK TO ALL OF YOU WHO BOUGHT THE CAMERA FARCE!

Many stats have proven the cameras are a detriment to crime, i.e. reducing loitering. Privacy? Why, do you have something to hide? The anti-camera gang MUST be ex cons, or they wouldn't care. Cameras make a crime-prone area safer..period.

Our expectation of privacy went up in smoke along with the WTC on 9/11/2001. If you don't like the world we're living in, blame the rag-headed b*sta*rds who are responsible. Oh, and if you know the cameras are watching you, don't pick your nose, or scratch any body parts.

perah - it is a complicated world, as is the history that created it. the world has hated america since wwii. the reasons for war are not reported. sometimes hinted at, but the news in general is almost always crap. this country is so divided and filled with impulsive rage there may never again be a time we, as citizens of the usa, feel comfortable. you want to blame 'rag heads'(i'll assume only 'ragheads') for the changes to our rights. I assume you believe hitler alone caused ww11. vietnam, commies and only commies.
uhuh.
you say 'our privavy went up in flames'. this seems to say it is gone forever. it is. please don't say our rights will be restored when we get the ba.....ds. what bas...ds? what country are we going up against? And do not respond with saddam in any way. he was a murderous cretin, but he belonged to us. please don't argue it's a good thing homeland security is doing a bang up job, as there have been no attacks on our soil. our borders are as open as ever. there is hardly any personel to watch for anything, as the mideast
seems to be where much of our forces are. why has george employeed, at our considerable expense, private companies like blackwater (sort of like the hessions in the rev war)? why do you think cameras are everywhere? 1 reason - and there are many darker ones - is that there isn't anything or anyone else to keep us 'safe'
perah, good luck.

Why do all of you losers feel someone has something to hide because they don't want you to know their business!
I am private and do not want you to know me...end of that... stupid argument...at least for today!
I at least want privacy when I have sex...ok...even if it is outside in the dark!

I enjoy privacy EXCEPT during sex! Cameras don't infringe on your business if you're innocent, so you have nothing to fear..

Cameras infringe on me as an innocent citizen, because you cannot see my red bra and blue panties when I go out to shop!
I also don't want you to see all my $100 bills...not a crime, but personal to me!
Oh..I carry a white straw bag in Sept. and I shouldn't..what would the cops think when they view it?

There have definitely been some arrests in Buffalo that would not have otherwise happened if the cameras weren't there. So if those people who were arrested are sent to jail then it reduced crime while they're locked up.
Angela, you sound more naughty than innocent. I like it. ;)

You got it! And those claiming the cameras on the streets are an invasion of privacy, how do you figure? The streets are a PUBLIC place! If there was a camera aimed directly into the front window of your home, then yes, THAT would be an invasion of privacy.

the cameras are symptom of a gigantic sickness.
less manpower. less police. at supermarkets - less human checkout employees (do it youself scanning). nike, walmart, labor across seas. these things help the have's, not us. it's all interrelated, designed to further lessen the middle class. and when we're gone, taxes will be a non issue, as there will be too few to help.
enjoy walmart, n. tonowanda, and help a family where 7 of the top 20 richest people (good ol' sam's kin) reign.
