1. It was signed by Bush #1 before it was sent to Congress for approvel.

2. The vote in the House was 234 to 200 for approval. There were 175 RepubliCONs in the House. Of this number 132 voted for approval - that's 75%.

3. The vote in the Senate was 61 to 38 for approval. There were 44 RepubloCONs in the Senate. Of this number 34 voted for approval - that's 77%.

4. In both Houses, more DemocRATs voted against NAFTA than for it.

Question: Is the Slickster the only one responsible for NAFTA?

What should we do about our National Debt which will be a tad under $10 TRILLION by the time the Bumpkin leaves office.

1. Don't worry about it. Blame the Dems when it comes back to haunt us.

2. Reduce it by decreasing expenditures so they are lower than receipts.

3. Increase taxes and devote the increases to reduce it.

4. A combination of 2 and 3.

5. The hell with it. Keep increasing it. As a matter of fact if we can get a nice big tax cut, we can really increase the debt.

We await your answer which of course will be sprinkled with profound knowledge and wisdom.

A bunch of my pals came over for a "Last Supper" farewell type lunch today. My magnificent frau made one of my favorites. Pork spare ribs with sweet kraut and tatoes. Much Miller High Life to wash all this grub down. Ate too much.

Anywho, my bud the political nut had some interesting stuff. I don't know how he gets all this info, but he's right far more than he's wrong.

He claims McCain wanted Lieberman then Ridge as his VP. His party bosses said no. They wanted Romney. Johnny said no. Sounds like a Mexican Standoff. Miss Goody Two Shoes was nothing but a 5th stringer. He feels she will be ripped apart by the other side. Nice? I didn't waste any time watching the conventions except when they ran over into the slot scheduled for news at 11. My wife and I had to listen to her for a short time. What was so great? Just another standard pol that doesn't tell the truth. Good at insulting Obama. Unfortunately insulting the other guy does not solve the MANY problems we have due to one of the worst Presidents in our history.

I glanced at the paper in the mornings to get an idea what went on the previous day. I don't recall seeing anything on Colin Powell being there. Maybe he will be working for Obama. Don't the parties usually have their former Presidents at these affairs? I don't recall any mention of Bush #1 or the peanut guy. Of course, Mr. & Mrs. Slickster were there.

My bud feels the winner in the election will serve a single term. Bush will leave a huge mess - far too many important things have been ignored during his time. The winner in November will fail.

Welcome to American Politics. Candidates waste all their time calling each other names which solves no problems. Then they tell us what they will do. BUT - they never tell us how they will do it. It's worth the expense of an extended trip to get away from all this horseshit.

American voters are not too swift. They listen and believe all the manure the pols spread. They never ask the pols exactly how they are going to accomplish what they promise. It appears as though you have a bit of business experience. As you know it's easy to identify a problem. What is hard is how to fix the problem.

On a micro scale, we have the same problem in Amherst. As a backlash against Emperor Giambra, the folks here elected the biggest liar (Satish Mohan) in all of WNY in 2005. He has yet to fulfill a single campaign promise. He said he would cut Town taxes by 15%. To date, he hasn't cut 5 cents. I got him to admit that he never did any homework before making this promise. I have made him aware that if he tries to run again, my group will make him feel like he's living in hell. At least I can get revenge on someone.
