My neighbor gave up her car on Friday because she couldn't afford to run it anymore. The price of gas, repairs, etc.is astronomical, compared to our income. I believe I may be next because I would rather eat than ride. We're able to get a Rural Transit van twice a week to go to appointments, for groceries, etc. All they ask is a donation. How many others have done this? Because I'm disabled, I can't work, and would so gladly if circumstances were different.
Your ideas are welcomed.:-)

You and people in your situation, those losing a job are always in my thoughts and prayers. Life was not always easy for me, no car, food stamps and welfare. I never forgot what that's like, so anybody who is having a tough go of it, gets a prayer from me. I hope things work out for you somehow, someway.

Sorry for your troubles.....

VOTE on Election Day. Vote for Obama...that may be the only way things can improve for the poor, shrinking middle class and disabled.

Hope things get better for you soon.

Thank you. I still am not real sure who to vote for. I have to hear more talking first. Obama says he's cutting taxes & McCain's cutting spending. Isn't that like apples & oranges? Regardless, neither one of those things will help we who need it.

I know not having a lot of money makes you appreciate what you have. We look at anything we purchase from a need/want perspective. Do we need the item or is it something we just want. I think more low income people need to do this as well. Takes a bit of looking inside and being honest with yourself. There are many ways of accomplishing things you just have to think about it. Government is a last recourse.
I was planning on making a million but not if Obama gets in as he is going to tax the wealthy even more. If that is the case why get rich? Might as well stay poor.

Here's an idea you ignorant jerk, learn to read and all learned to write. If you would have read the post you would have determined that these people are disabled. I've read some of your other posts they are as stupid as the one you wrote here.

You're most welcome......I also suspect getting a pitch for who to vote for didn't go over too well either....it sort of rubbed me the wrong way. It was like the stem cell issue years ago....."if you want a cure, vote for me". Politics has its place in life, but not in every topic imaginable. You and your neighbor have a good day. It's a holiday and lots of good grub can be made very cheaply.

Here's an Rx for you. Take a baking pan, cover the base with olive oil. Cut three potatoes into small chunks. Put them on the pan....pour a bit more olive oil. Mix......put some fresh ground pepper and sea salt (*). Put in an oven at 400 for 15 min...then flip...then another 15 min. It's like crispy french fries cooked in olive oil AWESOME! Enjoy!

(*) I use sea salt because it has less sodium than regular salt.

We can't afford olive oil. And we steal our salt from the local dennys or country buffet.
Do you think if I suggest sea salt in the shakers they will do that?

LOL! Regular oil, regular salt, regular pepper does fine. You'll enjoy it just the same. Let's battle tomorrow...today is a holiday and we all should be nice to each other (*)

(*) with the notable exception of James from KT and "everyone has a choice" another gutter snipe....can't cut them guys one ounce of slack

Those who cannot afford to own/drive a car should park it. Driving is a luxury, not an entitlement.

A lawyer for your hair? What's next, a doctor for your teeth?

The poor urban blacks should conduct workshops on how to live like rockstars at the expense of everyone else. I am not suggesting that you are one of them but you could get some pointers on how to feed as many mouths as you claim, drive a new or nearly new car and get all your rent and utilities paid without ever lifting a finger just by following their simple plan. Hey, it can't be that hard if they can do it, right?

WAY ahead of ya. When I had cable, I watched the food channel and I think it was that Mike somebody who made these one time. Delicioso and I DO agree about Sea salt. I just can't afford to buy it. I don't use much salt though.
Thanks again!

YOU my friend have your priorities mixed up. To ME it's a necessity. However, I WILL give it up when I feel the time is right.

It's not an entitlement, end of discussion. My priorities are just fine, I work a great job and have two vehicles. If the time came where I couldn't afford a vehicle then I would make other transportation arrangements. I do not have a sense of entitlement.

If people cannot own a car, then they can purchase a sub-50cc moped/scooter and a rain poncho.

You haughty moron! Read the original post!!!!!! These are disabled people who live in a rural area!!!!!!! They can't take the 7 Train to the US Open.....not every place in NY is NYC. Good for you that you have a great job and two cars.....guess what? You are one car crash away caused by a drunken skunk coming out of nowhere to losing your great job, your two cars, and life as you know it to be. Your priorities will change. While you may not have a sense of entitlement....you have a sense of invulnerability. Just be glad you're not the person having to say good bye to your set of wheels....say a prayer and/or make a donation to the local food bank for those who do.
