I thought these forums were for discussion, complaints, compliments, etc? Why is it every time I come to this forum, the posts about the TW?CHANNEL4 are deleted/removed? Whats up with that???

You actually support LIN when it's clear they don't have the best interest of their customers in mind, only the interest of their (LIN's) wallet? Want to know what this is called? It's called Corporate Welfare, and considering the multi billion bailout Washington just gave Wall Street, having another corporate entity with their hand out is downright obscene!

I do agree it's corporate greed, but you do realize Time Warner charges you for local stations (check your bill). They take the 'free' signal and charge you for it. They make money off of this 'free' signal yet don't compensate any of the local channels for it. As soon as Channels 2 & 7 have their contracts go up, they will also be asking for compensation. This won't raise your rates because TW already charges you for them (unless, of course, TW doesn't want to lose profit margin... then they will charge you more)
This isn't happening locally, it's nation-wide. The Cable companies have been charging you for all signals, but only pay out some stations (ESPN, Disney, Oxygen... etc) Local just wants it's cut.
It sucks for all of us, but it's going to happen... it just happened to WIVB first.

They don't charge for the channel itself, they charge to strengthen or "clean up" the signal and provide a clearer picture.
You are right though that it will happen with all the broadcast channels...IF Time Warner gives in! If TW keeps fighting LIN now, then the other owners will think twice. Keep fighting TW, I can live with my antenna for the Bills games and the few other shows I watch on WIVB for now!

I signed on with TIME WARNER and that agreement included channel 4. So..as I see this, I need a refund for all the days they denied me that station!
I bet any small claims court would agree...they remove any stations...they must refund clients! Call them..everyone!

Chris, your analysis of why they charge consumers is dead wrong.

Secondly, TW already granted retransmission fees to a larger station group, Sinclair, last year. The precedent has already been set. For TW to pretend LIN is the first to ask for compensation is dishonest.

That's the point of fine print in the legal contract that you signed. TW protects itself against situations like this.(This is a major reason companies have lawyers on its payroll.) I guarantee that there is a clause in the contract that you signed that gives you no legal right to a refund under these circumstances.

The Sinclair deal was different. Yes Sinclair got more money, but TW in return was given more advertising time on Sinclair affiliates. LIN on the other hand wants more money without giving anything in return.

time warner cable charges you to bring the signal in clear... so you dont get a snowy picture like you would without us transmitting the signal. we dont charge you for the actual channel.

And tv stations are making far larger expenditures going digital, so based on your logic (and incorrect facts about why TW charges consumers), tv station have the right to charge TW for the massive investments they've had to make under federal mandate, as well as the vastly increased costs of providing network and syndicated programs for you to carry, as well.

By the way, Jared, my information is that TW BOUGHT ad time on Sinclair stations, in order to reduce the retransmission fees to some extent.

the only way I see this working...
sure, TW pays, but in return LIN gives TW advertising slots in return to re-coup

or, TW pays LIN and TW says screw them, everytime theres a commercial, TW cuts in with their own.

Hmmmm please explain further.

You charge us for something that costs you nothing?
Wait, you charge us for free channels because you rebroadcast them for free.

How much does it actually cost TW to send a "free" signal out?

Oh and to the TW employee who claimed I was exaggerating about the tiers.

# Digital Variety Tier -$5.00/mo
- 33 Digital Channels which hit every interest in your family. Including Teen Disney, Noggin, History Channel International, Fox Reality and many more.
# Digital Movies Tier -$4.00/mo
- 10 Digital Channels dedicated to Movies. Great for the movie buff in your family.
# Digital Sports Tier -$4.00/mo
- 10 Digital Channels dedicated to Sports. Great for the sports fan in your family.
# Digital Espanol Tier -$5.00/mo
- 9 Digital Channels of Hispanic programming plus 8 channels of Spanish Digital Music.
# Digital High Definition Tier -$5.00/mo
- 4 Channels of diverse programming offered in High Def quality. Mojo, Universal HD, HDNet, HDNet Movies.

That's closer to the $30 I said I was charged for tiers I didn't ask for than the $15 dollars that the employee responded with.

$24 is closer to $30 by $9 dollars... plus tax.. don't forget the taxes :P

I REALLY wonder about TW sometimes.

How much have all those antennas cost?
