Wow!! Smokers with bad teeth and bad credit. Does that also include bikers and freaks? I am the mother of 3 and I have 3 tatoos with drawings for 4 more. If you were to look at me you would never suspect that I even have one. Most of the people I know dont even know. Take your comments and shove them elsewhere. Tatoos can be symbols of something from the past or just something you feel very strong about.

Yet you defend the comments of a grown man when the extent of his input to a blog is "I hope your kids get gang raped."

Tatooing in the military has always been common but even the Marine Corp has had to crack down recently ... New regs instituted in 2007 state that no marine can have a tatoo showing when they are in their dress blues.. Too many jarheads were getting tats on their face, head and neck...

I am NOT kidding
People who live certain lifestyles like to send signals to people with simialr lifestyles, so that can immediately recognize one another.
Some examples:
1. Cigarettes and women- There is an old expression about girls "If they smoke- They F$#%. When a guy sees a woman with a cigarette, he knows she is a risk taker and someone who began the habit as a youngster to get approval. These same girls also give away sex easily because they have low self-esteem and are looking for approval
2. Cigarettes and homosexuality. Most homosexuals smoke cigarettes and they use them to signal to other homosexuals. Make homosexuals will use feminine gesttres when they smoke and lesbians will will use masculine gestures.
3. Earrings on men- An earring or "stud" in the left ear signals cocaine use so the dealers know whom to approach. An earring in the right ear signals homosexuality. An earring in both ears signals homosexuality AND cocaine use
4. Tattoos signal all of the above
this is THE MOST REDICULOUS thing i have ever read , except for the bible .
what a load of horse droppings this is .
i guess they're not getting what they pay for at UB. i figured all that tuition costs would lead to a formidable education but here's proof otherwise .

So, first off I'm a 19 year old female and I have plenty of tattoos (Leg sleeve, Chest Piece, Half Sleeve, Forearm Piece, etc..). I plan on getting completely covered from my neck to my toes. I've read through all of this and I think most of you on here are ignorant who have no idea about art, expression, or image. Especially ignorant and oblivious to the youth.

I know countless people who get tattoos or "tats" as you call them, to represent things they've overcome in life, past experiences, goals, etc. I have a few to represent my morals and ideals in life, what I hold close to me personally, and what represents my personality.

Most of you are straight up, idiots. You have no idea what your talking about and probably should go back to school to catch up on "this day and age of 2008". All of you I'm guessing are over the age of 30 anyways. I think that people who get face tattoos are taking that a little too far, but in the same respect -- to each their own.

In this world, being so young, I've already realized that people are still stuck on racism and ignorance. Tattoos do not make the person. Skin color does not make the person. Height and weight does not make the person. That's like saying I'm going to discriminate against obese people because they are disgusting slobs and have no future. That's incorrect. Maybe some people are like that, but not all.

Lastly, I do not fit into the mold of a drug using, biker, hardass. Not everyone does who has "ink". Get that through your thick skulls and grow up.

Aw, "Funny Guy" you must've focused on that last sentence yourself. Re-read my post, and maybe a second time through you'll get the idea of it. I hear older people have a hard time comprehending big words?

Amen! Well said for such a young lady. My sister has 2, my neice has 3 & my daughter has 1. None of them smoke, do drugs, have bad teeth nor do they have bad credit. While some tattoos are vulgar, many are beautiful and some even tell a story.

I could care less if Life Coach claims to have a sociology degree from UB or not, the views he was taught are very out dated and no longer the 'norm'. Obviously he has not kept up with modern beliefs as sociology ideals change from generation to generation.

Life Coach has a lot to learn about life. How he has kept his job all these years, is beyond me. Obviosuly no one respects him or his off-kilter views. Let him be. His older son will continue to sneak booze into him in the nursing home.

Honey, hold off on the additional tattoos. You may live to regret them - you are SO YOUNG! Also, please dont' compare tattoos to race/discrimination. While one cannot decide their color/race, they CAN decide to get tattoos.
