How is it legal to go through the male students phones after they get taken away... I can understand taking them away for disciplinary reasons, however going through their pictures and whatever else was on there should and probably is illegal

ya, i agree...this is getting waaay out of control! i heard on the radio that some radio dj got the pictures... how on earth did that happen?! this started as a little thing where they were passed around to a few people and now were making the lead stories on the websites and on the news! geez the weez. this is not the kind of publicity we want nor deserve! pioneer is not a bad school full of bad kids... just a few kids who made some poor decisions. so thanks goes out to all these news stations for taking something so small and blowing it waaaay out of proportion and giving our school a bad reputation. thaks guys, your awesome =[

This is reason number one why parents should keep tabs on their children's cell phone.

I for one was appalled to see the News 4 van at the Pioneer High School. School should be a place for learning not where a child is taught right from wrong. That begins in the home from day one as a parents responsibility. Parents need to step up to the plate and take care of their children ,not society, not the school system. Parents who wanted children need to make time in busy schedules for them.

Sorry been happening for years. New way of flirting. Freedom of speach, but better guestion how can school look thu ones phone with out any reason, using it in school is not grounds for scrolling thru cell phones. Way to far if you asked me. If that is the case then parents should be able to view all teachers cell phones and emails what is fair is fair.

Tell me about it, in rural Wilson it is cell phones soved up the @sses of JV Baseball players by their Varsity mentors, while in Pioneer it is 13-16 year old girls taking pornographic images of themselves and distributing them to their boyfriends, who can, intentionally or accidentally, put them on the internet!

Maybe these kids should be charged with creating and distributing child porn!!

Perhaps that would get their attention and that of their parents; nothing else seems to!!!

"But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come: For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having a form of godliness but denying its power. From such people turn away!" (2Timothy, 3: 1-5)

I go to pioneer, and I have received some of the pictures. I personally have not sent any of them on after receiving them. Yes I agree that it is wrong for the students to take the pictures of themselves and send it around, but they just made a mistake. People should just get over it and put it behind them because nothing can be done about the mistakes they made in the past.

This is just another reason why cell phones should be banned in school. There is too much opportunity available for students to get themselves in trouble.
The distraction that phones cause is overwhelming and interferes with their school work. Even students who do not have phones are distracted by those who do.

The same thing happened in my school district. Another parent I know found out about it from her children and called the school to commend the principle and vice principle for taking action, they had been busy all day retrieving phones and deleting the picture. They told her she was only from a few that called to thank them, the majority of them were complaints about touching their personal property. I was shocked to hear this and wonder what is wrong with parents that they are more concerned over their personal property and not that of the young girl who made a very poor choice and the fact that it's a crime to have such a picture in your possession.

As a 2007 graduate of Pioneer I am completely embrassed by Pioneer being on the news for this situation. I hope that the girls are extremely embrassed as well as there parents. The first girl didn't know that she would be exposed to the entire community but as for the second and third girls if it happened to her why on earth would you do it???? All the celebrites sex tapes eventually get out so what makes you think your any different. Just another cry for attention.

From what I gather, these were pictures of girls from the ages of 13-15? so technically, if these happened to be on someones phone, couldn't they be considered in posession of child porn and a whole aspect of more trouble for these people???( I believe thats a felony - jail time etc.)
