AS A FORMER UNION LEADER OF A VERY LARGE AFL / CIO UNION, I MUST ADRESS THIS ISSUE. LOCAL 17 HAS HAD A EXEMPLARY LEAD IN TRUE UNIONISM. THEY GET 80% PARTISIPATION AT MEETING' AND HAVE INDEED BEEN PRO- ACTIVE IN PROTECTING THEIR TRADE. I HAVE PERSONALLY SEEN THEIR MEMBER'S RUN OVER BY $$$ DRIVEN NON- UNION WORKER'S. WHEN A NON- UNION VAN PASSE'S AN ON GOING LINE--- KICK IT TO THE FLOOR, BUST LEG'S AND BACK'S. THAT IS NOT MEDIA NEW'S-- JUST A BAD RAP FOR LOCAL 17. I DO BELIEVE THAT THE TRUE STORY SHALL PREVAIL.BEEN THERE , DONE THAT.

May these Local 17 thugs join their union brothers (from Niagara Falls) in jail. No wonder union participation is DOWN throughout the country.

Wow, I didn't realize how little eduction it takes to become a union leader. Or maybe I'm stupid. I never knew that you were supposed to add an an apostrophe s to every noun ending in s or all pluralized nouns; I thought that was only for possession or contractions. DUH!
Also, seems like I've always been misspelling the word 'adress'; I've always spelled it 'address'. Man... I wish I were smart enough to become a union leader, or even a "FORMER UNION LEADER".

This is how unions operated in the old days and in the old days people made a living wage. Granted, union members generally make fair pay but participation is way down. Corporations are running this country into the ground and helping to erase the middle class. Local 17 stuck to the old ways and was able to secure jobs for their workers, good for them. You want something, you gotta take it.

The true story is that this local has been under investigation for 10 years. It is probably fair to say that more injustice occurred over these years than what is known. It is a "Bad Rap" these guys earned for themselves. If people are throwing themselves in front of a moving van, it is not a good thing. After all, these folks don't have a shared interest with the local. I believe that it is the approach and disregard for the law that is being scrutinized not their commitment or dedication to unionism. Our actions reflect on everything we do and effect the example we can have for a cause. |
