One last thing if you think that you can do a better job quit your perfect job and make that campus safer and go work there...its not as easy as you may think...this isn't a small school like your local grade school that we are talking here...this place is mammoth...once again GET REAL!!!

for to walk around unescorted is thier choice, and a dumb one at that, if they heard about the recent rape of a student, but ignore the danger of being the next victim, you can't blame the cops,untill he's caught, they should think that it can happen to them and not walk alone, be left alone and so on, the blame belongs to the criminal, for like any wild animal, he will wait until it's safe before he attacks

I do have sympathy for the victims that is not my issue. My issue is for that person to make statements as they did. doesnt matter whether she was a student or not. that place is not secure enough.
nobody said that security is supposed to watch EVERY single person coming and going, but they have a responsibilty to make that campus secure. whether the lawn is under construction or not, it should have been lit.
Granted, lights alone can not prevent a rape, but it sure helps.

My point exactly. It had nothing to do with lack of security. IDIOTS like King of Op and Shut Up should find something useful to do with their time instead of wasting it here.

My daughter starts at UB in January. Seriously I am not at all happy about her going there. I am very concerned with her safety.

True! There have been several robberies (many especially violent) on campus and around the surrounding neighborhoods in recent years. The vermin are on the march!

first let me say my heart goes out to the victims and their family's.. i am so sorry this happened to u..stay strong and my prayers r with u.

secondly yes it is a college campus and security should be tight.. but they do not talk about the buddy system for nothing , even as children the buddy system is taught for swimming to make sure u have a partner just in case.. unfortunately campus security can not supply one cop per student but they could make sure all areas r well lit and the people walking around should remember the old buddy system.. there is safety in numbers and that needs to be a top priority right now especially till this guy is caught..

This woman should be instructed by her mother or any close female..to never walk alone...after dark.... and not in an area without traffic!
This woman was NOT a student and was just crossing through this unpopulated area! How would a cop from the campus know she made that fatal mistake?
God..how many rapes and attacks have to take place for females to get the very obvious hint or idea, that we are prisoners in our homes and cars, after dark...and we will be violated if we venture out....almost all of the time!

u r 100% right.. no women in this day in age should walk alone after dark and in some cases and areas it is not safe to walk during the day either.. unfortunately this world has become a very dangerous place with allot of predators and fact is u gotta look out for urself.. don't venture out alone especially at night and if u chose to at least be smart and stay in well lit areas..
no one asks for something like this to happen but violence is a reality in todays world so be smart and take proper precautions when venturing out..
