A lot of Newfane students find what happened in Wilson as unbelievable, which it is. I think Newfane is going to set aside our rivalry with Wilson and look at what happened on the school bus as a lesson to all of us. Stand up for people. Nobody deserves what happened to that poor kid. I hope that Newfane and other surrounding districts take this lesson and speak up for any actions that they see happen to anybody. It doesn't matter if you like the person, if they are younger than you, or if they are your best friend. Think: you wouldn't want it to happen to you, right? Then stand up for what's right and SPEAK UP!!!

It is the responsiblity of those coaches to pay attention to the students and thier behavior! "Babysit"--call it if you may but as a parent from that school district..this behavior has been going on for a while and those coaches are just as liable as the students who committed the crime and those students who stood by and let it happen!!!!

It's totally sad that this stuff has to happen and knowing these coaches they were probably sitting in the front of the bus talking. It is their responsibility to make sure this crap does not happen and to our kids. You would think that after the stuff that happened on the Music trip to Chicago wouldn't you think they would be more attentive I mean they are still kids and kids do some DUMB stuff.

This type of thing should not of even happened. Where were the coaches? What were they doing? I thought it was the schools responsiblity to protect our children!! When we aren't doing our jobs as parents the school system is the first to jump in. Maybe they need to take a better look at what's going on around them, instead of thinking those type of things dont happen in Wilson. Wake Up People!!!! Start doing your jobs...I think that's why we pay taxes! Shame on all the adults on that bus!!! Take your blinders off your players aren't perfect!!

I certainly hope these students are treated as adults for this abuse. I also believe this is certainly not the first incident with Varsity players harassing jv baseball players in Wilson. Discipline is long in coming for the students as well as the teachers/coaches involved. The coaches should not only be coaching, but should not even be teaching any young people in any school system.

I am both saddened and disgusted at the events that recently took place. All I could think of , what if it was MY child? I hope that anyone that was even remotely involved in this incident pays the price...how could anyone stand by and watch a TEAMMATE be abused in anyway. I think coaches need to take a closer look at what being a team means....what a horrible way to put Wilson on the map!

And people wonder WHY I've paid to send my children to private school all of these years when I have "the #1 school in the county" right in my back yard. Looks like the answer is obvious.

This is a disgrace. I feel the teachers & parents on the bus should also be face criminal charges. Thay were there to protect our children.

I don't think the issue here is whether a private school is better than a public school.
This can happen anywhere.
How about we focus on the fact that it's appalling, and take preventative measures that it doesnt happen ANYWHERE--Private, or Public.

I just heard that a parent "selected" this district because it is listed as #1 school in the country. He spent over $1,000,000 for his children to have the very best, and made plans to move here. What a great shock he is going to have now--I am so very embarassed to have my out of area friends learn that I am a part of this community. This reflects on all of us. The parents of the student criminals (yes, that's what they are, rapists) should be ashamed of their neglect, and students should go to jail.

It's very sad that these types of actions are the norm in this country. And foremost the Coaches and Parents that were on this bus just sat there like Ghosts.

They should be held responsable also. Lastly the real sad thing is that these few that took part in this type of behavior are doomed for life because of their actions and the lack of action by the adults that were present.

Wilson has long been considered one of, if not THE, finest school district in Niagara County. If it can happen in Wilson - it can happen anywhere -INCLUDING a posh "Private School." Don't think you're immune if your child is in a private school. And don't pat yourself on the back for sending your kid to one - what goes on at those private schools will make your hair curl. Parents must take the ultimate responsibility for their children's behavior.
I DO NOT condone the absence of supervision on the bus. THOSE adults were either in a dreamland or having their own fun - no one can say, and expect us to believe, they didn't know SOMETHING "bad" was going on. We're not THAT stupid.
NOW - let the NYSP and the DA's Office do their jobs - quit speculating and finger pointing. The only result will be that more young people will be hurt.
Perhaps the only "good" thing that will come out of this is that more parents will become VERY involved in what goes on with their child in all aspects of their lives, including school, no matter what school they attend.
I hope that the innocent children at Wilson will not suffer for the acts of a few, although History has taught us that this is rare.

That is compeletely false. I happen to know for a fact that those acts were performed on the bus rides there and back, not in the rooms. But whatever the case, were talking about a kid getting a phone shoved in his anus. Not the music trip. C'mon ppl. Stuff happens. Big deal!

i think that this news hits all of the Wilson district like a bomb shell. as a student of wilson middle school i am ashamed of our fellow baseball players for doing something like this to one of their own... and i belive that the adults need to be more aware. we are still hurting from a loss of a student.. this on top of it is CRAZY!!
No surprise

This problem will only be corrected if the entire truth comes out. The names of the abusers and all adults that were at the scene where this happened should all be exposed to the public. The school needs to immediately begin sensitivity training to all students regarding all types of bullying, intimidation; the consequences should be severe and never tolerated. The coaches should not be allowed to continue teaching ANY student until the investigation absolves them of responsibility. No cover-up!

It's a shame things like this happen anywhere. Parents should be held as responsible as the teachers involved for the actions of these children.
