I don't think he should be fired. It sounds like it was a dumb thing to do and was meant to be funny. I'm sure if he could take it back he would. Some things are just not funny. I think he has been punished enough already. Let it be a warning that if it happens again by anyone, the punishment will be severe. Many people say and do dumb things without thinking. I believe this is just that. He hurt peoples feelings. This is not a racial hate crime. The time off without pay and the embarrassment is punishment enough. If this were a person with a past of racial hatred I would say lock him up. Give him a fine and community service.

As has been stated before. this action was inane, asinine, and even wackie. It should NOT be made into a hate crime. His face has been publicized ALL over in the papers, Internet and TV. I'm sure that this fiasco has developed into a situation he NEVER expected. It was a dumb thing to do but not a criminal one. He's losing pay and has been given a "Time Off" penalty. I'm sure he'll THINK TWICE BEFORE he does anything as moronic again.

It says the guy is fifty-two years old! What an illogical thing to do, especially at your place of employment. That's was unprofessional and extremely STUPID (<------notice the word stupid is in all caps). It's true in some cases, age has nothing with wisdom and one's mental capacity.

I don't know if he's racist or not, but I agree with your comment... what an idiot! If he was going to do something idiotic, why subject himself to a place of business were he was supposed to be working? The man obviously hated his job!

Not only is he being punished now but think of the next election!.With the people he offended,he won't have as nearly as much votes!!!

What he did is not any worse than this forum having an African American sign on it.

I am not a racist individual at all but I do not agree with black history month or the NAACP, if whites had a white history month or a NWACP or whatever.. everyone would scream racism.. regardless fact still remains this is 2008 and things need to change.. joke or not it was a terrible cruel mean thing to do and I am sure many african americans found it very offensive.. as I would have found it offensive if in a all black community I saw blacks only on a water fountain.. anyone who does not think that what he did is classified as a hate crime is wrong .. joke or not it was wrong... if his only intention was to be funny than all I gotta say is he has a very sick sense of humor..
