Long Thompson wants gas tax suspended
Democrat Jill Long Thompson is repeating her call for Republican Gov. Mitch Daniels to temporarily suspend Indiana's sales tax on gasoline as fuel prices spike in the wake of Hurricane Ike.

Drill for more oil in the United States. Which would in turn increase the supply. Which would in turn increase tax revenue because more people would be employed. Then build more refineries (more people employed again). I haven't heard of a hurricane hitting North Dakota lately. There hasn't been a threat of civil unrest in Alaska lately. Ultimately, it would lower the pump prices. Because we wouldn't care if someone sniffled in the middle east or a hurricane might hit the gulf coast.
WHILE all of this is going on look for a feasible alternative fuel source. |

Typical democrat trying to buy votes at election time. She is a joke.

Suspending the gas tax is just a ploy for votes and would probably do more harm than good. She would get my vote if she would investigate as to why gas is more here than in California instead of crying about wanting to suspend the tax yet not really making an effort to do much else. Lets get the root cause (and we all know what that is) instead of applying a band-aid. Suspending the gas tax would hurt the state and ultimately the rest of us yet the oil companies would still continue to reap enormous profits. I am not so sure that it might be time to regulate prices again. At least this would help even out the price. I get sick of gas jumping 30 to 50 cents overnight yet take weeks to go down by dropping 1 or 2 cents every few days; that is ridiculous!

I agree gas prices are too high, but why remove tax monies that funds so many state functions? Gas taxes are usage taxes, as they only get charged to those who use the product. If gas tax money is removed from state coffers, what else would take its place? We would have to raise taxes on something else or drop even more social services. Jill needs to stop show-boating and actually think of something to really affect gas prices, like maybe suing oil companies for racketeering!

let's not start spending money just because there may be a surplus of revenue...we can make it through this issue without calling for actions that are designed to attract votes

also keep in mind that ALL federal gas taxes go to build theses "Light Rail" systems all over the country, and not even ONE is in the black, they are all failing, now our ilustrious Democrat controlled Congress (with the lowest approval rating in history, lower than Bush's)is passing legislation to start proping them up...tax and spend is thier way...vote NO..the numbers from the GAO show that no Presidents has taxwd the rich more than Bush...so their case against him doesn't stand up

Who is this babe Jill? Is she a Democrat? Does she not know the Democrat Party wants high fuel prices? The left wing liberal Democrats tried in the current Congress to pass legislation sponsored by Barbra Boxer D, CA., that would have gave us $8 dollar gas. It was only prevented by a Republican filibuster. The Democrats did succeed in passing legislation that will raise your eclectic bill. You will be getting a letter this month from your electric company explaining the increase in your light bill.

"eclectic" is a typo? I wish I could spell. You know it should have been electric. I am just another high school student that Indiana failed.

This dumb looney liberal is doing everything she can to get her name in the headlines...calling for Daniels to take action on this and on that....sorry looser Thompson...you'll never get elected as Gov. and you really need to stop playing arm chair quarterback with the current administration, as they are doing a far better job than you could ever hope to do.

I think it's a great idea to help hoosiers in a very bad time of need...
Lord knows, we can't leave it to the republicans to save our economy... |
|
Nor can we depend on the "do nothing" democrats that have been in charge of the house. They would rather waste taxpayer dollars bickering back and forth over who's party's ideas get passed, go or bad. BOTH republicans and democrats have failed this country and are equally responsible for the mess. There is no single party to blame and you're a complete fool if you believe otherwise. |
|
But Obama can save the planet! Why stop there....it's vast universe that Barack and his fellow dems can "save". All Hail the Messiah-OBAMA! |
|
Typo or not, you still kick butt with your comments and your moniker/avatar!! |
|
|
If it wasn't for Obama, I would still have all that money I gave the TV preacher that was screwing the hockey player!

Don't worry. The spelling police are on a sabatical this week. |

yes there is a side to blame...Democrat Marxists...they have been in control of the House and Senate for the vast majority of the last seventy years ...their failed welfare states like Louisiana and Mississippi and Arkansas are examples of what they can do for you...keep minorities down and where they want then so they can spew thier stupid "change" message...they are the racists of this country and are continually using race as a tool...as we all know, Congress is where the laws are made...thats where the rubber meets the road...life long losers like Biden are why we are were we are...not to mention electing alchoholic murderers to office i.e. Kennedy

Trying to buy votes and endanger our surplus... She can bankrupt her campaign but don't let her bankrupt Indiana! Yeah, she shows how well she manages things...Right into DEBT... Vote for My Man Mitch!

I usually vote for the best person for the job,
I do not hold loalty to any party. I can tell you that there is no way I would vote for Thompson, this seems like a "knee jerk" reaction to a more serious matter. I would have to agree that it is way to get votes. I think saving that few cents today will cost us "big time" later. Think long term solutions. |
|
Yep... the last time the state had a surplus another Dumocrat blew it.... O'Bannon. |
|
|
true that...lol..correct
