Very sadly people experienced people are still leaving more and more and replaced with staff who don't have the experience that is needed. Simply blindly following policy does not mean it is good for the DOC or the people of the state. All the policy makers at central office have created a mess, so it is harder for people to actually really follow policy the way you want to think. Policies have been written and changed so many times they don't work. The news stories about another bad release shows another example, who will be the scapegoat now? Lemmon doesn't really have anyone left to help him fix it, he and the very very few good ones left can only wait for there turn to leave.

Well, must be getting close to election, the Governor met with work release inmates who worked on his office. Nice touch, Mitch.

The people who once cared about the IDOC and who read this forum are gone. the people who are left running the facilities and the parole districts and even the divisions downrown are mostly 2nd or 3rd or 4th string. which doesn't mean they are necesairly stupid bad people or aren't trying hard, many of them ARE trying hard and working very hard, but the real experienced ones who could have been teaching them are gone, so all that hard work and effort is really wasted. And of course they are "doing more with less" and less and less, then they will get burned out and leave, and then even THEIR experience is going to be gone, and on and on it goes. The IDOC is not safe, not secure, and rehabilitation (or treatment or reentry or whatever the latest buzzword is) does not exist. The department is wasting tax dollars just spinning its wheels.
Of course writing all of this is a waste. There are maybe just a couple of people who know or check this thread anymore. Goodbye and good luck.

Totally agree with you and I guess I am one of the two that still reads this. Sure wish there was something we could do to get the IDOC in a safer mode. The damage that has been done will take years to repair. The biggest problems came with the hiring of JDD and no one with the ability to stop his madness. What a whirlwind of destruction and integrity demise for a department that was a model for the USA's prison systems.

Mitch hired JDD to destroy the DOC and he did just that. Mitch supported Tony Bennett to DESTROY Public School education in Indiana and he is doing that. I wish we had a total count of all the people which Mitch Daniels was a factor in their job lose; I bet it would be HUGE. Just think what Mitch did to FSSA and the fact he stated he is too busy to testify. Busy doing what, signing his book? Or maybe talking with people from Duke Energy about how they are going to SCAM the Indiana people into paying for the MONSTER which they built at Edwardsport so they can all have their hefty bonuses. If that is not enough wait until the new gasification plant is built and Indiana residents get to pay high PREMINUE for gas to heat their homes. I’m sure his buddy is thanking with lots of cash under the table. Yes, Mitch Daniels has been a ‘WHIRLWIND OF DISTRUCTION’ for Indiana. Alright people, been a while since I checked in, in fact my last post I checked out, never to return but some friends in DOC called and were telling me how things are so I thought I would take a look.
How disappointing, AFRAID TO POST, now is the time to post, if you haven't heard their is an election for Governor this year. Now is the time to get all those issues out there, you cannot blame anyone if you do not speak up. Your voice, your vote does matter, silence will only get the same treatment that you have had.
