Sad to say I did not get to feel the earthquake. Even while at work, several people would say did you feel that aftershock, no. I dont know what was wrong with me at work. But I slept thru the entire thing. Even my dog did not wake up and they say animals feel things before they happen, we must have been really tired. I would like to have expierenced this, the only thing I remember that was a big deal for me was the blizzard of '78. Grant it I dont ever want to get hurt but I would like to experience things as the earthquake. Glad no one was badly hurt. It helps me understand this more due to my class in Geology on Earthquakes. I think the earthquake broke my fridge, my a/c, my stove, my washer and dryer, and 55" plasma. I am calling the insurance company. It's all broke!

My husband and I woke up at the same time to a rumbeling rattling sound. The doors, bed, gun case. Seemed to be the house was snapping and shaking. I told my husband it was the wind blowing and he said "that's not the wind!" We couldn't comprehend what was happening. When it stopped I said "I think we just had an Earthquake." I turned on the local news and they was already talking about it.

I was sitting in my F150 Pickup truck at work in Pendleton when it hit. My truck started moving up and down as if someone was jumping up and down on my rear bumper and I even rolled down my window and yelled for them to get off, only to find that no one was there. About 5 min later, a buddy of mine pulled into the parking lot and asked if I felt the quake. As I started to tell him no, I then realized that what I had just experienced with my truck 5 min ago must have been the results of that quake. That was truely an experience to remember.

I for one had been having a plethora of plumbing issues at my house leading up to that fated morning of the earthquake. A pipe in my basement had been leaking incessantly and we had just got it fixed on April 15th.
The morning of the 18th I was awoken 3 separate times to the headboard of my bed banging loudly off of the wall. My entire bed was shaking rather heavily. I was thoroughly convinced that something had gone wrong in the basement and a pipe had either burst or was about to. In my groggy state, the thought of my house actually blowing up crossed my mind a few times, but I was too exhausted to do anything but go back to sleep.
I've never experienced an earthquake, and this being my first, I was more intrigued than I was scared. It truly shows what mother nature is capable of.

I was sleeping when suddenly my bed start shaking. I thought I'm dreaming. I went back to sleep. At work I found out that actually it was earthquake. Michael Hamburger explained the earthquake phenomenon very well. We recently learn about New Madrid Fault in our class, that is cool.

Felt it in Lawrenceville,IL.. Woke us up at 4:37 a.m. We live in a 2-story house and the beds walked and pictures were turned sideways, windows rattled, lots of shaking.. Worse upstairs then down. It lasted about a min. We heard a rumbling sound and then it sounded like a train. Scary... No real damage, but things did fall of dressers and etc..
