Family members tell 24-Hour News 8 that former Marion County Judge Z. Mae Jimison has died.

Great lady. I remberer the time I was in court and she fell asleep in her judge chambers. Her staff was too afriad to wake her. What a hoot.

How old a lady was the former judge? What types of health problems did she have? Not to be cruel, but she appears to be grossly overweight, which often contributes to many types of health problems.

I am deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Judge Jemison. I did not know her personally, but understood her to be a fair and honorable judge. "If Judge Jemison sent you to jail, you were as guilty as home-made sin." Whatever her criticisms, you a least knew that you were going to get a fair hearing. And that is all that the people ask. Those presently serving on the Marion Superior Court should remember that!My condolences to Bob and the Jemison family. Sincerely, Pierre |

As an attorney that practiced before Judge Jemison, I am saddened to hear of Judge Jemison's death. She was a wonderful jurist. She had a heart - even the most hardened criminals respected her because she accorded them respect as human beings. She always carefully listened to the legal arguments I presented on behalf of my clients. If I lost a case (and I did many times), I never thought she didn't hear or understand my arguments. She represented the best of what the legal system stands for. Her death is a loss to us all.

Z Mae was truly a wonderful person. She had a heart of gold even when people may have thought she was cruel. My prayers are with the family.

Z. Mae was wonderful lady and we were blessed that she walked with us. My sympathies go out to her family. The Judge will be missed.
