For heaven's sake, if you are going to purchase a handgun, AVOID DON'S GUNS, he is just as much of a criminal as the murderers are. Popguns, Bradis, and Elmore's are reputable establishments that can help even the most ignorant person with making a good decision on a quality firearm. I currently work the east side of indy as a police officer, and it is amazing how many guns we recover from young kids, not to mention how many careless owners have them stolen in burglaries. I am all for the general public being legally armed, but make sure you know what you are doing with your firearm. I have seen instances where 13 and 14 year old kids had guns that were more powerful than what the police department uses. It is time to take a stand, defend the home turf, and make the criminal element unwelcome in your neighborhood. The police need the help of the public, just as much as they need our assisstance.

If you do make the dreadful mistake of selling a .40 Glock for a .380 Bersa, make sure that you come out of that deal with the Bersa and at least $300 cash. I subscribe to Gun Tests. Like Consumer Reports, they are unbiased, take no manufacturer ads, have the highest integrity, and are absolutely reliable. Believe me, according to their tests, the Bersa is NOT a good deal over a Glock, by any standard. |

Obviously not impossible, judging by the responses here. Cherrie, the problem with 'registration' is that it is a step away from confiscation. That will never do. There are already too many hoops to jump through thanks to useless bureaucracies like BATFE. They should be disbanded and people left alone. Their crimes are many and they do not hold gunowners in high esteem. Those who do not have guns are entitled th their choices. I pity them. I salute you Cherrie for having guns and knowing how to use them. Be carefyl what you wish for re registration, for they may come for yours one day. |

Thanks for your service to the city. I hope we can indeed help one another. We have before in getting several drug houses closed and druggers put away. They don't like us -s-. Keep in mind that as has been mentioned here etc that kids can and do learn responsibility. I wager that most of the kids with guns on the street must be wannabe or are gangbangers. Oyr kids use a wide range of firearms. My 18 year old sone has a Glock 30 and my 13 year old daughter started with a Walther P22 and now can handle a Glock 19. Stay safe and hope we cross paths for teh right reasons of course! |

Your statements above cause me to wonder. Aside from the slap at a business establishment which you've provided nothing of substance by which one might critically evaluate for veracity, if it is your intention to decrease the crime committed with whatever device, may I suggest that you seek two avenues of approach: [1] Seek to impart to the community at large the proper way to use and store those items — and do so without charge. [2] if there is crime associated with a substance, then ask yourself this: WHY is the substance outlawed, and WHY are so many people seeking that substance? Remember Prohibition (1919-1933)? The VERY SAME characteristics of crime which were suffered THEN, are the VERY SAME characteristics being suffered NOW. Before Prohibition, there was a certain level of alcoholic beverage consumption. DURING Prohibition, consumption more than DOUBLED. After repeal, the level of consumption dropped to its pre-prohibition levels. DURING Prohibition violent —and other— crime increased dramatically. In fact, it was DURING Prohibition that the 'drive-by' shootings originated. As a cop, YOU should be interested in reducing the factors of the causes of crime. And just one more thing: "The only power any government has is the power to crack down on criminals. Well, when there aren't enough criminals, one makes them. One declares so many things to be a crime that it becomes impossible for men to live without breaking laws." ~Ayn Rand~ |

The Glock doesn't fit my hand, so it would be useless to me regardless of any tests eh? |
|
I had a Bersa .380 a while back, I had to have it repaired five times in the first three months I had it. It was great for accuracy and the fit in my hand, I'll can't agree more how well it fit my hand, one of the most comfortable grips I've ever had out of the box. But inside they are poorly made, the plastic parts in the clips break too easily, the little wire spring inside one grip has no tension or looses it. The most dangerous thing that happened was when the firing pin broke in the middle, I loaded the gun and even with the safety on, the gun fired full auto because the pin piece extended beyond the safety block and as soon as the hammer hit it, it went off. I got a ruger after that. And y'all are right, Don sells the most expensive, crap weapons. If you gotta buy, get it from a dealer who's a retired cop or other reputable dealer (Bratus, still the best)
As for the rest of this 'conversation'. Leave me out of it, I don't want to jump onto the gun paranoia band wagon, after all these years, I've learned better. |

If you want a small, well built and reliable .380 I highly recommend the Ruger LCP. The MSRP is $330 but it can be purchased at Bradis for $280. Another recommendation is the .380 Walther PPKS which retails for around $500. I have both and love them both.
