We are all going to miss Rich-I worked with him Khowst, over the summer before being reassigned in Kabul. He was one of the best listners on Khowst, and his leadership and technical skills made the Afghan medics in the 1-203rd better for his time there. My deepest symphathies to his wife and sons, but know that he did what it is he wanted to do, which was contribute to the effort to deny Khowst to the Taliban.

I want to let you know you are in my thoughts and prayers. We have never met, but I know we have lost too many husbands, fathers and sons (not to mention the women). Thank the lord for soldiers and the bravery and sacifice they and the families have given to us. I hope there will be only smiles when you think of him.

take care of one another. Mary Jo

I don't know you personally, but my boyfriend, SFC David Armes, had gotten to be close friends with Col. "Doc" Berrettini. They definitely seemed to have a close bond as they were some of the "older" guys over there. David told me he would spend many evenings just chatting and hanging out with "Doc". I know there are no words that can ease your pain right now, but know that there are many people sending you love and support during this difficult time. From what I heard from David, he was a wonderful man, and one of America's "true heroes"! I'm sure you are very proud of him! My thoughts and prayers are with you and your sons. Sincerely, Kathy Smith
