I am scared, there is ponding in my yard!

I live east of Parksley on the Eastern Shore, and was on the deck looking generally SE when the "bright light" caught my attention out of the corner of my eye towards the south. It was visible only for seconds through the trees, and somewhat low towards the horizon. I listened but heard no noise with it. It was bigger than any meteorite I've witnessed before but the brightness was like brilliant lightening for the very brief moment I saw it. One of the posts above notes that their dog was spooked, but ours out in the yard at that time, seemed not to notice.

I saw this big flash outside while watching tv, it was weird.

I live in Virginia Beach, VA. I heard a loud noise this morning (April 5, 2009) at 3:45 am. A loud cracking noise in the sky similar to what was heard last week. I woke up about 30 seconds before it happened. My entire family woke up and heard it too.
