Full story: Vallejo Times-Herald

In a chance coincidence with a Vallejo decision to delay a binding arbitration ballot measure until June 2010, a community group has sued the city on the same issue.

It is about time the citizens of Vallejo started to utilize the same legal tools the Unions have been relying on for the past 20 years. If the city of Vallejo has to live with the "threat" of binding aribitration, our elected government that provides services and is supposed to represent the people should start to get it, that they have to perform and start living with the threat of legal action when they do not.

This is all too funny. Now the citizens of Vallejo are suing the city of Vallejo. A city with no money.
I read this article and I now am convinced that not only is the city of Vallejo leaders screwed up, the citizens of Vallejo are just as bad.
Now, doesn't Libien work as an attorney for the city of Vallejo? So Libien is a part of this citizens group suing the city of Vallejo? My My My, tisk, tisk, tisk, this sounds like a big conflict of interest for Libien. I think the city of Vallejo should fire Libien for this action.

This effort is not a waste of time or money. This effort seeks to do the work that the city council has failed to perform. That in itself is well worth the effort.
And should this group win, we should use the court's findings to recall the mayor and his 4 follower councilmembers.

It's sad when voters have to sue from being blocked on issues making it the ballot. Why would an honest City majority want to prevent the will of the voters? Would it make their masters the public safety unions angry?

Any time an elected government becomes dysfuntional, the citizens must take over. I just don't like the idea that voters have to wait for the regular election when we just went through a Special Election just to vote on initiatives proposed by our government. Why can't the voters request for the same special election in order to move things sooner and eliminate more waste of time and money?

Here is a link to an article that provides more detail about the BA lawsuit . Also included is a link to the filed document.

From reading the document it doesn't seem that the county did a very good job--but since it was only for Vallejo why should they care.

I'd like to hear what method of conflict resolution this group wants the City of Vallejo to employ if binding arbitration is removed. Mr. Libien says that its a new time and that binding arbitration is no longer needed. What are they recommending to replace it? Or are they just expecting the courts system to provide resolution to future labor disagreements?

That is a good question.

I'm amazed that the Mayor & Council could/would terminate a City Managers contract because of its cost, and then turn around and recommend Binding Arbitration be considered during a special election that will cost the city an extra 300K.

Nothing adds up in Vallejo.

Go look at the video of last tuesdays council meeting. The answer to your question, and much discussion on the topic, can be found there.

Don't kid yourself, this will cost the city money for time and money spent on attorneys. This is a joke. Vallejo is a joke and continues to entertain the rest of the Bay Area with it's stooge shows.

Sad to say, we all wait for the next show instead of thinking this will end. But then again, this is Vallejo, Ghetto, poor and full of hateful citizens and stupid city officials.

FACT:If binding arbitration was used properly it could have saved The City and The Unions millions in legal fees and we could have avoided bankrupcy.

Gomes is a perfect fit for Vallejo.

Rude
Disrespectful
Is an "expert" in things she knows nothing about
Attention seeking
Failed in gaining anything positive in 4 years

To run a successful city, you have to have everyone
working together. Gomes is not working with everyone.
She is on her own agenda. An agenda that is not for
Vallejo. She is self serving and destructive for Vallejo.
What will Gomes destroy next?
Since Gomes has been in office, Vallejo is bankrupt, Vallejo
is ghetto with high crime, Vallejo has too much section 8, she caters to very low income and ignores hard working families and people.

Vallejo has the fewest police in the history of Vallejo. Police officers are leaving for better stable cities. Vallejo has closed three fire stations.

Businesses have been leaving Vallejo. Good businesses have turned down coming to Vallejo. Several multi million dollar projects and business opportunities have declined Vallejo. Most recently, a group of citizens that support Gomes have filed a law suit against the city of Vallejo that will now cost the city of Vallejo more money to defend. Money the city does not have, but this group, supported by Gomes does not care about Vallejo. They only care about spending millions of tax dollars to “punish” public safety and destroy the city even more.

Since Gomes has been in office, Vallejo continues to sink to its deepest depths. If you ask Gomes how Vallejo is doing, she will tell you,“The City of Vallejo is the cutting edge” for all other cities to follow. We are all wondering if Gomes is even paying attention.

These idiots have nothing else better to do. They are costing Vallejo citizens millions of tax dollars. A bunch of geeks with no life. And just think, they will be supporting and contributing to Gomes. This is laughable.

It is all a moot point. At this time next year the economy of Vallejo, the State of California and the US will be in a much worse financial situation.
The last thing you will be worrying about is a ballot measure in Vallejo during June of 2010.
There will be a huge deficit and turmoil through out.
