mr sweede - why do you think it is that our government looks the other way over the whole illegal issue? could it be that corporate america needs those 12 to 20 million people to do much of the work that needs to be done but is kind of hard and beyond most of the stoners who come out of our current school system? and corporate america owns most of the government, at all levels?

We can be self sufficient but the feds are in the way? Would you like to back that assertion up with some facts? Oil companies right this very day hold many hundred of leases on off shore sights in the gulf of mexico and off both the east and west coast. And for some reason are not utilising them. The cost of recovering what remains of us oil reserves is economically unfeasible if the price per barrel drops below $70. The "peak oil" scenario is real. As is global warming. Talk to mr sweede - we have got to get off our oil dependency. And I wish you would show a little more respect to people in other parts of the world.
I call them what they are and what they deserve to be called. You're lame call for political correctness is nothing but another form of cowardice.

Oil companies might have leases but they are prevented from drilling and supplying American's needs by the feds, who in turn are caving in to the environmentalists. None of that does this country any good. As I said we have tons of oil all around this country and in the Alaskan tundra.

You said "Some reason" --- The reason is the Feds, the State governments bordering the waters are another reason and the environmentalists are a third. Politicians are paid millions of dollars by all the special interest groups to continue to prevent drilling here. That, my friend spells: GREED. There's no sensible reason to be relying on foreign oil when we have it here.

In case you haven't noticed, this is the coolest summer we've had in years. Thousands of scientists have debunked the Global Warming-make Al Gore rich scare, and have publicly stated with facts that it's a fraudulent attempt to bankrupt the people by causing us to pay double in rate hikes and taxes for every commodity we use, along with raising state and fed taxes. Not a single scientist has shown a shread of proof that warming or cooling of the earth is caused by man.

Aren't you taxed enough??

mr tench - why don't you respond to some of my specific questions? Like - what is the current gdp?( again, no teleprompter ). What is the projected rate of unemployment in solano county and when will it peak? Or how about the original Tench Coxe - deserted from the pennsylvania militia and joined the Brits. That's your hero? And "some reason" - no, it's not all those bad guys you sight. The age of cheap oil is over. Yes, we can continue to rely on gas, but it will cost at least what the europeans now pay ( 5 to 10 bucks per gal ). And please, back up any of your assertions with some facts. Not a single scientist can prove global warming is caused by human activity? Check out your local grade scool class. They do green house gas experiments, showing what happens when co2 accumulates in an enclosed environment. And the thing about global warming - it's not that the whole world is getting hotter. It's that weather patterns around the world are being effected in unpredictable ways by the warming of the oceans. It's called "climate change".

Climate has had changes since the creation of the earth, universe and galaxies, it will continue to do so. As I said, nobody can give a speck of proof that man causes it or can control it. As for your other questions, I've already answered you.

As for my post name, if I changed my post name to Rosie O'Donnell, would that make you happier? Maybe I WILL change my post name to another interesting one, and see how long it takes for someone else out there to try to make a big deal about it,(it won't be Rosie). How about Peter Abelard? Oh, but then you'd probably attack that name because he became famous by, fornicating with his most beautiful student and lover - Heloise (which was a great crime in those days,) as well as other reasons. What kind of name is Tenche Coxe anyway? Yeah!! ROFLMAO

mr tench - yeah, I like the idea of changing to a truly honorable american ( like Rosie ) instead of a turncoat.( could that be the origin of that term ). And, no, you haven't answered any of my specific questions. So, how about this one - how old is the universe and and how long ago did life form on planet earth and what form of life was that that first appeared?

Tenche Coxe was initially a Loyalist during the American Revolution when he left the Pennsylvania militia in 1776 and joined the British Army under General Howe in 1777. He was later arrested, paroled, and joined the patriot cause and supported the new government.

A proponent of industrialization during the early years of the United States, Coxe co-authored the famous Report on Manufactures (1791) with Alexander Hamilton and provided much of the statistical data. He had been appointed Assistant Secretary of the Treasury on September 11, 1789 under Alexander Hamilton when Hamilton was Secretary of the Treasury. Coxe also headed a group called the Manufacturing Society of Philadelphia. He was appointed revenue commissioner by President George Washington on June 30, 1792, and served until removed by President John Adams. He was appointed purveyor of public supplies by President Thomas Jefferson and served from 1803 to 1812. He was a writer on political and economic subjects and a champion of the use of tariffs to protect the new nation's growing industries.

Coxe died July 17, 1824 in Philadelphia, where he is interred in Christ Church Burial Ground.
His grandson, Eckley Coxe, founded MMI Preparatory School in Freeland, PA.
----------

You've got a lot of nerve gleaning a few words from what you read about him and ignoring the rest of the history of the man in your retarded leftwing attempt to call one of the founders of this nation - a turncoat. Typical left wing liberal.

Now everybody else can see how retarded you are, especially when you refer to Rosie O'Donnell as being "truly honorable". The Universe, Earth, and life were all created by God. Ask him when all that happened. Don't waste your time with any more of your ludicrous questions. Over and out.

OK Tench - thank you so much - you've just demonstrated how a lack of an open mind inhibits the growth of real knowledge. You are obviously well read ( in somewhat obscure areas, but still... ) and someone who demonstrates a real ability to write very coherent, well organized sentences and paragraphs. Much better than that Tom Smith guy you so much admire, by the way. As I thought when I originaly looked up that guy - he was a useful opportunist. Nothing wrong with that. Every attempt to advance the creeping attempts at human progress beyond the superstitious age of believing in ghosts is something I'm willing to support. I just wish you were on board.

An "open mind" is the same thing as a toilet with its lid in the up position; it will always allow more **** in than would one with its lid down. Democrats have theirs UP since 1968, which is why theirs has become the party of the least common denominator... full of ****.

What a brilliant comment. You see, mr tractor, I was trying to prod mr tench from his close-minded point of view because he seemed to have potential - writes well and knows stuff. Broaden your reading. Try Dom Dellilo's "Libre". Not controversial on stuff you guys care about, but very imaginative and provacative. Just trying to help.

Kind of reminds me of a joke:

If George W. Bush had made a joke at the expense of the Special Olympics, would you have approved?

If George W. Bush had given Gordon Brown a set of inexpensive and incorrectly formatted DVD's, when Gordon Brown had given him a thoughtful and historically-significant gift, would you have approved?

If George W. Bush had given the Queen of England an iPod containing videos of his speeches, would you have thought this embarrassingly narcissistic and tacky?

If George W. Bush had bowed to the King of Saudi Arabia, would you have approved?

If George W. Bush had visited Austria and made reference to the non-existent "Austrian Language," would you have brushed it off as a minor slip?

If George W. Bush had filled his cabinet and circle of advisers with people who cannot seem to keep current on their income taxes, would you have approved?

If George W. Bush had been so Spanish-illiterate as to refer to the fourth of May as,“Cinco de Cuatro” in front of the Mexican ambassador when it was Cuatro de Mayo, and continued to flub it when he tried again, would you have winced in embarrassment?

If George W. Bush had misspelled the word advice would you have hammered him for it for years like Dan Quayle and "potatoe" as “proof” of what a dunce he is?

If George W. Bush had burned 9,000 gallons of jet fuel to go plant a single tree on “Earth Day”, would you have concluded he’s a hypocrite?

If George W. Bush’s administration had approved Air Force One flying low over millions of people followed by a jet fighter in downtown Manhattan causing widespread panic, would you have wondered whether they actually “get” what happened on 9-11?

If George W. Bush had been the first President to need a teleprompter installed to be able to get through a press conference, would you have laughed and said this is more proof of how inept he is on his own, and is really controlled by smarter men behind the scenes?

If George W. Bush had failed to send relief aid to flood victims throughout the Midwest with more people killed or made homeless than in New Orleans, would you want it made into a major ongoing political issue with claims of racism and incompetence?

If George W. Bush had ordered the firing of the CEO of a major corporation, even though he had no constitutional authority to do so, would you have approved?

If George W. Bush had proposed to double the national debt, which had taken more than two centuries to accumulate, in one year, would you have approved?

If George W. Bush had then proposed to double the debt again within 10 years, would you have approved?

If George W. Bush had reduced your retirement plan’s holdings of GM stock by 90% and given the unions a majority stake in GM, would you have approved?

If George W. Bush had spent hundreds of thousands of dollars to take Laura Bush on a date in NYC, would you have approved?

Believe it or not, Obama has done all of this in 5 months! And comedians say this president doesn't give them any material? Come on!
