I agree with George, Moe, and a few others citing the new theater as a must see. I will try and get tickets for The Kite which my daughter had to read as part of a class assignment. I will say this though. Be it a newly renovated theater. Cinaplex theater. Museums. Shops. Whatever you do to develope downtown requires abit of variety of things to do. Including stores. A good anchor tenant with a known name. Even a franchise should be placed down there to lure shoppers. Then you can add all the other stuff to bring more enjoyment downtown.

If you have spent any time on Virginia Street - I walk down there all the time, only live a matter of blocks from the area and it's as safe as any street. There are restaurants, Baci's right next door, China Wok a block a way....When that theater is lit up it looks like 12 noon down there. I did however see a black gentleman walking in the dark one night and you know what happened....he walked by and said - you ready for this....."good evening sir" Think more positive - it's not as bad as people think it is. |

George, it actually does have an orchestra pit. It's pretty neat the way they designed the stage. The front half is removable and will expose the pit. The front rows of seats are also removable so you can have a nice dance floor if needed.

I'm extremely excited about the theatre opening again. I use to go when I first moved to Vallejo. I hope that there are many uses for it. I travel with my daughter to Yountville, Davis and Woodland for my theatrical performances. Also the old movies at Copia in Napa. I love them so much. I hope the Empress gets a lot of support. I'm so sad to hear such negative energy from so many people. Our town is what you make of it. If you are a negative person, you will get negativity. Be positive and reap the rewards!!!! Congratulations to the opening....I'm looking forward to a wonderful experience!!

I'm glad so many people are exicted about a tax money funded theatre opening when the city is about to be bankrupt. I guess that is what you get when a liberal writer from Benicia interviews men with hyphenated last names.
Every dime taken in to the place should be sent back to the general fund as repayment. This is the ridiculous mis management that got the city in the mess. Have fun at your freak shows on Virginia St.. |

Who voted to approve the loans? Let's get some names now so that when this boondoggle fails in six months we will know who to blame. We have to make these individuals responsible.
