Uhhh, lets see, the jaws of life are kept on the truck company. The city of Vallejo shut down one truck company and they wanted to shut down the last truck company. You all know, the ladder truck. The one fire truck that can use the tall ladder for fires and all the jaws of life equipment.

As Gomes and Shivley would say, "I just wanted the public to know what they are paying for"

Well, I am sure all fire victims and victims who required the jaws of life are not complaining. Funny how Vallejo city council and VIB don't want to pay for certain equipment or personnel to be ready. Their excuses is that Vallejo can call for mutual aid when we need these special needs, like SWAT, jaws of life and the ladder truck.

What a bunch of re-tards.

$200,000 per firefighter is a bit much to pay for this...an illegal alien could do just as good a job for pennies on the thousands of dollars

I have never heard anyone advocate the removal of the current truck company. Let's see the link to that info.

It's not a question of whether or not the FD provides a valuable service. They do. To me it's not even a question of what is affordable because, like my kids, the FD thinks that if you have some money then it's affordable. It's about paying a reasonable wage based on a reasonable budget that provides for reasonable service levels, city maintenance, and money for other community services.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, If the employees don't like their compensation they are free to look for greener pastures - just like everyone else in this country.

It's my guess that there aren't any greener pastures than Vallejo, and it's just way too easy for city employees to hide behind their unions and demand the ridiculous.

Nice work, Vallejo Fire. It's good to have city workers on duty who know how to cut open a car door and rescue people. Yes, it's nice to have a Fire Department. It would be so much nicer if Vallejo had a Fire Department it could afford. One that would simply do its job and not try to run the city and control the budget.

The problem is the same in many California cities.

It's just that the IAFF 1186 union is the worst of the worst, paid in the top 1% in the state/country, is the only FD working for a bankrupt city, has helped push legislation to minimize a BK cities options, controlled elections through funding (tax payers have allowed this), continues to dictate city policy, been in contract negotiations for almost two years, works 48 hour shifts when a popular study says it leads to increased disability claims, had 4 of the last seven retirees go out on disability retirement (tax free), sued the city & appealed the decision, sued the past council/CM & appealed the decision, lost all four decisions, and has cost the tax payers over 5 million dollars in legal fees above and beyond their already bloated compensation.

Then we have Riley get up in front of council arrogantly professing that everyone can see BK was a waste of money - even though it saved the city 30-37 million. Then Henke steps to the podium during a Binding Arbitration meeting and talks about how his guys have mortgages and might loose their homes if they're forced to make concessions - can you say completely disconnected!

How can we possibly live without these employees & their union? I Dunno....

A functional illiterate could do a ff job-it is an unskilled/semi skilled occupation.

Heck, even Pissle could do it and his IQ is 27.

You can be hired with a GED, and you're trained, at an academy and on the job-it is at MOST a semi skilled occupation.

To be a lawyeryou need 7 years of school, a doctor 8, a CPA 6, a teacher 5, a Firewhiner-nothing.

I know you want to think you're relevant, but you're still just a GED firewhiner, who would be making minumum wage if not for your gov workfare job.

It would be even nicer if your fat girlfriend would stick to her job of finding new revenue for the city and not trying to run the police and fire dept. Oh, by the way, you are no longer a police officer or a city counsel member, so stick to whatever it is that you do.(T)URD.
