Dave Scholl has my vote, especially after last night's fiasco.

Jack Batchelor voted in an 18 yr old to the city council.

I have no confidence in Jack as a council member or a mayor.

After last night's fiasco is right.
I am ashamed that Jack Batchelor would put someone in the city council whose primary goal is to be in a temporary position so that her daddy can fund her campaign for the next election.
This isn't about giving girls scouts an internship. I did an internship at the Capital while earning my Masters degree in CA State Gov.
Multi-million dollar budgets are not the proper place to 'get your feet wet'
Give the kid a chance!! Give me a break!!!
They let her use her uncles address inside city limits to be eligible to run.
Why not give me a chance.
I have more college education than this girl has spent in her entire life in public school system.
1) When I applied to for the position, I asked the city clerk in the presence of newspaper editor
Dave Scholl to check the voter's registration to make sure that it was legal for me to run.
2) The clerk verified that I am indeed registered to vote in the city limits as required by law.
3) I asked her to double check by calling the county clerk since I know that my physical address is on the city/county line.
4) The city voted to annex the rental property that I live in which would put me in the city limits, however, the county has not signed the documents yet.
5) The county voter's registrar had to look up the platte numbers, the city attorney physcially drove to my address with the clerk, to determine if I am in the city limits or 3 blocks over the line.
By the way, I want to know how much he billed the city for that.
6) Even though my property owner has 2 other properties inside the limt line, I did not claim either address, therefore it was my honesty, integrity and character, that prevented me from being able to speak before the council.
7) It is an outrage and a disgrace that the Mayor called her at home to personally verify that she had not used her parents address across the county line but had indeed given her uncles address in the city limits in order to be eligble.
8) And what makes it the most blatant political outrage of all is that when Councilman Alexender who was the only dissenting vote, went outside the little gir's father told him "You just lost yourself the next election."
9) This is the very same little girl who argued with me in class last year while I was substitute teaching . I was discussing a new Presidential Act that had been signed in to law titled
"The Military Commissions Act of 2006".
After making a long speech about how teachers were not suppose to give their opinions in class and where did I get my sources from. I told her to "look it up on www.whitehouse.gov .
10) I have spent the last 12 years earning a BA in Govt, 3 minors and a Masters Degree in Govt.
CA State Politics and Urban Policy. Not only do I hold Emergency Teaching Credentials but I have worked for Dixon Unified Schools for 7 years and my own son Levi Silveira was a 2003 graduate.
So to be told that we need someone who understands the youth perspective is a slap in the face and an insult to my education, integrity and sense of honesty .
11) It must be a miniature verson of Sarah Palin.
I am only grateful that these children have had the opportunity to read the Constitution .
12) I have spent months working with the Redevelopment Advisory committee, attending the
General Plan meetings, city council meetings and
speaking publically at every one. I was absolutely shocked at the last meeting when a parent sitting behind me asked me where to get an application for her daughter to sign up for city council.
13) It must be nice to have a mommy who will get your papers for you and a daddy who will threaten to sway the next election against councilmen who didn't vote for her.

Is Deborah going to post this rant on every article about Dixon? I don't know anything about the chosen Council member, however, calling her "little girl" is insulting.

If the other choices were like this lady, I would say the Council made a good choice. "Why not give me a chance" you ask...I think it is clear from your rants.

Dave Scholl has my vote too. I have a hard time voting for anyone who uses the phrase "we will just have to agree to disagree" as much as Batchelor does.

The subject tonight was global warming and SB365. When confronted with the fact that global warming has been identified as a scam by scientists who aren't out to make a buck off of Gore's delusions, this is the best response Batchelor is capable of. Don't bother to investigate the science, Jack, just accept your liberal colleague's mantra. Ever study geology? Didn't think so.

Jack is the problem with government. People who are uneducated, unread, unprepared, and ill informed making decisions that effect us all negatively, especially in the pocket book.

At least Scholl knows what deficit spending is and doesn't confuse it with deficit budgeting.

Leave Jack where he belongs: on the council as a minor player. He has no business representing Dixon as its talking head.

If Tori is old enough to possibly give her life to her country, and if she is old enough to vote, then she is old enough to serve as a member of the City Council. You guys who didn't get selected are just a bunch of sour grapes. Mr. Ceremonster will never be elected, as he has tried to do several times in the past. If you had the choice of selecting someone young or someone who is a convicted criminal, who do you choose? If you have a choice of selecting someone who is lacking in experience, but willing to serve or someone who flies off the handle at a drop of a pin, who do you choose. Winegar is not quite the nutcase as CereMonster, but there definately in the same area code....I'm sorry, Winegar doesn't actually know where she lives now, does she. Your all a bunch of glorified LOOSERS!

Tom - does it matter? You and I both know what's going on in Dixon. The city is in shambles (did I spell that correctly)? Winegar and CereMonster and Riddle are about the worse things that happened in Dixon in over 20 years. Get your head out of the sand.

If the city is in a shambles, it is because of the lack of leadership of the likes of Smith, Vega, Ferrero, and Courville. The worst thing (yes I realize you were educated in the public school system in Florida as your excuse for not educating yourself on spelling) is Mike Smith who believes he knows better than the rest of us what is good for us and has in fact stated exactly this at a council meeting on the subject of Dixon Downs.

Your four years on the council accomplished nothing, Mike, other than your periodic and repetitive attacks on fellow councilman Steve Alexander. I guess it is easier to join the majority in attacking one person than attempting to help him be successful.

Oh wait, that is your complaint about me. You are so naive and deluded. Just keep listening to those voices in your head. I am sure they will keep telling you how brilliant you are and how dumb the rest of us are. By the way, we weren't dumb enough to let you play games with the Water Board with $40 million of our money.

Why do you fear me, Mike? By the way, Steve lost his first two elections. I suppose anyone who isn't selected on their first shot financed with nearly $25k of union money should just go away? Now you and your unions are attempting to finance more of the same by backing Batchelor, Fuller, and Cayler. You make me ill.

You fear strong leadership on the council. You fear someone who has the nerve to say no to unions and raises which will bankrupt the city or force it to seek a parcel tax or higher fees. You fear someone who will actually accomplish something during their term, just as Manson did in six short months. You fear someone who will reduce city government back to serving the public instead of being the paid elite of our town.

Your politics disgust me and always have. However, I will have a beer with you any time you want to talk...

I fear those like you who think that they want to turn Dixon into one of the old wild west one horse towns that is run those who have perceived power. You don't understand or respect individuals or government. You think you know best and that if anyone disagrees with you their wrong and your right. What kind of clown places an old cement mixer in his front yard because he wants everyone to think he's a maverick. What's wrong with you? Did your momma not give you enough love and hugs when you were little? Did you not stop peeing your bed until you were old enough to drive a car? Did other kids treat you badly when you were young and you couldn't defend yourself? Did someone take away your toy Barbi dolls and make your cry? So my friend, what has caused you to be such a pill? You must be really lonely besides being such an insecure individual.

Thanks for the laugh!! How can Winegar, CereMonster and Riddle can be "the worse things that happened in Dixon?" None of them are on any decision making bodies! The worse thing that happened to Dixon is MaryAnn Courville, Mike Smith, Jack Batchelor, Gil Vega and the likes of them. Those are the ones that are making and made stupid decisions for Dixon.

The way you replied to the Great Libertarian’s comment revealed that you are the lame duck vice mayor Michael Smith.

Michael Smith, you are sick. You should be ashamed of yourself. YEAK!!! I am going to vomit!

LostMyMind....You HAVE NOT lost your mind!
That is the most correct observations in these responses!

The best thing Courville and Smith have done in during their "reign" is to announce they would not run for office again.

If anyone disagrees, please, state with facts any of their accomplishments. Seriously.

(This should be interesting...)

Thanks Lost,
I should have stayed out here on my own side of the county line and let the city folks continue to pay their attorney $550,000 a year and give their
3 staff development people a $10,000 a year pay raise each year for 3 years in a row. That is why they need to raise city fees and fines by $400,000 a year.
But no, I did not go quietly along with emptying the city treasury for such idiocy. If the city of Dixon wants to continue to pay out those kinds of excessive wages then who am I to set foot in public office to try to stop them.
Not my job to care about what they do with your money in your town.

Sour grapes aren't tasty.

If one does not live in a city, one has no right to apply for a seat on that city's council.

As I do not live in that city, either, I have little other influence than to say that I believe Mr. Scholl to be the more able of candidates at this point in time.

Such a position allows Mr. Batchelor the ability to continue in his position, while allowing for a new voice as well.

As for the rest of the Libertarian fringe, the city might do well to put them aside.

Blah, blah, blah Mr. Smith. Sounds like a rather self descriptive cathartic episode on your behalf.(Find a dictionary) It seems to me that your laws are poorly written and randomly enforced, otherwise known as discrimination which resulted in one federal lawsuit. Considering that your code enforcement officer has cited me each day for the last two weeks, I can presume that is harassment as well. You hire the unskilled, trained by the ignorant, and qualify your accusations using an attorney who bends the laws he wrote to fit the situation (a cement mixer is not a piece of construction equipment comparable to a "forklift, back ****, or bobcat") and then you expect people to respect the law or those who wrote it and/or put it in place. You should be run out of town on a rail.

As I said, I will be providing you with a picture of the mixer, balloons, and my campaign sign to use in your upcoming hit piece against me. I wouldn't want you in my neighborhood.

You have missed the point as usual even though I have referred to it many times. You can remain ignorant. You do it so well.

I find it interesting that you are putting more effort into keeping me out of office than you put into doing the job we elected you to do four years ago.

Way to go, Mikie Smith...

Ms Winegar I am trying to figure out why you are so angry? Is it because you were "honest" and told the city that you did not live within the city limits but Ms Coppes did not?

If the law says you "must live within the city limits" why are you getting upset? You knew you were not qualifying to be on the council, so why did you apply for appointment in the first place?

Because others may have committed voter fraud that does not mean you should had been appointed to the council. You are not a resident of the City of Dixon. When your home becomes part of the city then you can complaint.

Wasn't this the reason the mayor's husband accused Mr. Gomez of violating he law? Mr. Gomez moved out of the city limits. He could have been unethical, like every one else, rent a room in town and finish his term. Instead, because he is an honest and ethical person he resigned. But even his resignation was not good enough for the Mayor and her husband. They had to get him out of Dixon so the Mayor could complete her legacy. Give pay raises to police and fire personnel and put the last nail in the coffin of the Dixon residents before her departure.
