too bad they don't spend as much time getting rid of gangs as they do focused on marijuana. Gangs are becoming more of an issue and they (the gang member idiots cowards) flaunt it. We have to worry about what colors our 12 year old is dressed in because of the gang issues being so bad on the south side of town. This is something that needs to be removed from our society, something I think we can all agree on.

The gangs - state wide - are connected with our prisons. Those in prison contionue to 'run' the street gangs and it is all about criminal activity. What is the #1 criminal activity in Ukiah? Sorry Nord, but the sell and distribution of marijuana and other drugs is the #1 criminal activity in Mendocion County. Thus, we have a growing 'gang problem'. No, we have a growing medical marijuana problem!!!

The gang problem here is getting out of control. If they are selling drugs, it most likely is worse than MJ..

Let's hope that our police department doesn't react like the Petaluma PD Chief reacted to people from Office Depot getting beat up for wearing Red (Their work uniform) Shirts in the parking lot of Office Depot, while gathering shopping carts. Their chief stated "we do not have a gang problem here in Petaluma" Please,Please UPD Don't bury your head in the sand where gangs are concerned

I agree with "more sad truth".Follow the money. All gangs including street & biker & Russian & 8 types of Asian & Jamaican & prison are all around the NorCal Grow scene. Many of the dispensaries down south are gang controlled.Who else would be able to
open a club in So.Cen. LA or MidOakland-Richmond?
What did the voters think they were getting when Measure G legalizing 25 plants passed-a bunch of choir boys?
I did hear that the Governor is working on an emergency set of guidelines to cover all of 215 related issues for the whole state of California. The plan is to let the voters revisit 215 in an upcoming election to clarify the gray areas like dispensaries & limits.
The Gov. has been told by Sac. Appeals CT. that in the interest of Public Safety he can by pass the legislature & voters & spend or do as he wishes. The ruling comes amidst the prison overcrowding cases.
Prisons again?
We need to legalize all drugs and tax the crap out of them.Drug education, drug therapy, drug counseling, all paid for by drug tourism.

we also need some serious discussion on how to deal with illegal immigrants. I think we need to allow people here to work to better their country, but what we have now is a joke. There are so many kids at the high school that don't speak English and don't care about learning. There is also a huge problem with getting the parents of those kids to do anything. Gangs do nothing but act tough and look pathetic. The will sell anything they can get money for, marijuana, crack, guns, anything illegal (the asian gangs in SF became powerful in the 70's through selling fireworks). Gangs are just pure ignorance, it's something we should all agree to rid our town of. I do agree that our prison system is a joke and run by gangs, but that's a whole different issue that needs fixing.

Last time I checked that isn't free and California is broke. The prisons are already overcrowded and we can't even afford to pay for schools. The problem is larger than just building more to solve it, and that is no longer an option anyway.

It would help if once they were built, long-term sentences that would assure the death in prison of these dogs would help insure some modicum of safety.

We will always have cash for prisons. People would rather have overcrowded school class rooms than letting people like Loco out on the streets. See I would rather my kids have a bigger class room, or have to buy books, than have Loco's stray blullet kill them.

OK, I will spell it out for all you bloggers 1st you whites are always talking about close the borders and all that nonsence 98% of gangbangers are american citizens our parents came here and worked hard to make our lives better and in most cases they did but after us being discriminated in school or on the streets becuse we were brown and poor you made us click up together, gangs are born out of opression, fear, and poverty and prison is our college, so keep locking us up the problem will only get worse. Instead of buildingprison we should build school not more prisons and get more finacial aid programs. they wont let you read the bible in school but they will let you read it in prison.

the problem with whites is they always get together and talk about how to end the gang problem but never ask gangmembers how. they come up with ideas to end them but they have no experince in gangs, Ive been around gangs my whole life and its safe to say they raised me. and i bet i could make gangs fall apart. its simple really but the prison system would have to take action that is the only way you can stop them. if any body wants just ask me.
