Many felons have moved here already thanks to the lure of easy money. This is part of the problem. Why do you want to openly encourage more criminals to move here.

Felons are those who have been convicted of felonies; if you really ARE an LEO and not just some camo queen wannabee groupie, it should be a distinction which is understandable. Same with inappropriate use of "criminals" - people whose behavior YOU do not LIKE are not necessarily criminals, either, soley on the basis of having opinions and behaviors which differ and conflict with your personal notions.

Dream on! I did not mean to offend Arcata & Santa Cruz. There needs to be some place for the dirt bag dope growers to go now that they are not welcoome here. Thank you Arcata! How do you figure the departing growers will be replaced by medical refugees? Now that the limits in Mendocino are as low as anywhere in California what is the incentive to come here? We are compassionate, but we are no longer suckers. No outdoor growing or dispensaries allowed in the cities. Only one dispensary in the county. Only 25 plants per parcel, zero on a parcel within 1,000 feet of a school or bus stop. That means if you live on a 640 acre parcel on Spy Rock Road but one corner of your property is within 1,000 feet of the parcel the school sits on, you are in violation. It is not 1,000 from the school to your grow. It is 1,000 feet from the school parcel to your parcel. Oops! Now tell me why the dope growers or patients would want to live here instead of somewhere else? I hope CNBC will tell the truth that the tide has turned here.
The medical patients in other states don't have the immunity offered to patients here. Many don't believe the tide has turned here. A slim margin in an election where the law enforcement community, the local newspaper, and a wanna-be councilman distorted the facts to encourage this propaganda campaign is hardy evidence of the tide turning. The next election will bring needed scrutiny to the claims of YesonBees proponents. The added publicity of another election or 2 will contribute to the droves of patients finding sanctuary here. With this continued influx of new voters replacing prohibitionist leaving for less tolerant ares of the country we will soon claim victory. The more the YesonBees fight, the more publicity generated, and in turn the quicker the relocation of needed voters. The medical marijuana drug war is coming to an end!

I'm missing your argument. What medical busts?
No medical busts have occurred since the passage of B, The Sheriff and DA have stipulated in a court agreement to put Measure B on hold.
Or, are you intending to argue something else?

The hidden agenda IS the big question; is it flipping on the DDR issue, like Wantaburger? Or? It is damn hard to believe that such a dedicated propagandist, backed by Mike Sweeney, has principles that would look presentable in the light of day to stand on.
Oh, I get it. You have nothing to base your original comment on, so now you are going to make stuff up. The fact is, you don't like McCowan because he took a strong stand on Measure B. The outside developers and speculators don't like him any better because he has taken an equally strong stand against the big developments that the current Board of Supervisors is trying to cram down our throats. Your smear campaign plays right into their hands.

After 20 years of pro pot propaganda, for the first time the other side of the story is being told. No one is against medical marijuana. But few growers are growing for medicine, they are growing for medicine and the general public is stuck with the negative consequences. The public is fed up with you pro pot hypocrites. Quit hiding behind the patients. Admit you just like making a bunch of money withour really working.

It is amazing the number of local growers who are racist and homophobic. Why is that? I thought you were all enlightened progressives.

What? You didn't see the pictures in the UDJ of the cancer patients being hauled off to prison from their death beds bound in chains? And they accuse us of promoting hysteria.

Correction: that should have read "But few growers are growing for medicine, they are growing for money, and the general public is stuck with the consequences."

lets also try to limit the amount of lethal doses of booze. Noone can consume a 1/2 gallon of tequila, scotch, wiskey, etc. in a couple of hours without dying. Unless you are an alcoholic.

If anyone here has an interest in seeing "Measure G -Again?" get on the ballot, visit www.measuregagain.org and send some feedback. Of course, doing that requires use of a real email which will doubtless eliminate SOME of the potential habitual flamers such as San Leandro ratman.

What we would like to see are reasons why web visitors would like to see Measure G back on the ballot again, warts and all. Suggestions on potential content for the website can also be made to info at measuregagain.org

Voters on the Measure B did not have an opportunity to endorse the continuance of MCC9.36 (Measure G) on the code books of Mendocino County. Voters were only allowed to vote up or down on TWO measures.

Putting Measure G back on the ballot addresses that problem, though not happily for some.

I am concerned with the recent DUI related death last month involving an 18 year old drunk driver, who killed her 20 year old passenger.

May 10, 2008, the Press Democrat ran an article about a 15 year old girl who was admitted to hospital with a BAC of .578! If I purchase a 1/5th of vodka, for example, and drank the entire bottle within 2 hours, I would be dead.

Noone has ever ingested a lethal dose of cannabis, yet people in our community seem to find it necessary to limit the amount of cannabis I can possess at any one time, citing the dangers to kids, how pot poisons them, etc.

Intoxication means you have ingested a toxic amount of booze. When you begin to get nauseaous and vomit, that is the 1st sign you have a lethal dose of alcohol in your system. But anyone 21 or older can purchase a lethal dose.

If those who are concerned with poisoning our children, limiting the amount of alcohol you can purchase at any one time to 1/5th of a gallon, it would be one step closer to preventing teens from getting a lethal dose in their hands.
