Funny how they don't have the money for teachers but they have money to blow on upgrades. That's messed up.

just what i was going to say i realize that the money is earmarked differently, but it seems to me that in dire cases (like the recent massive cutbacks) that perhaps the money could be diverted |

As an MCOE employee, due to educational cut backs, too bad I may not be here to enjoy the new upgrades.

Oh yes. I'm certain that Paul Tichinin and his overpaid staff of unaccomplished professional time=clock punchers who make it their business to "earn" their cushy pensions and benefits at the expense of the education of our children will be enjoying the lovely tile and new bidet in the MCOE restroom facilities.
It is such a PRESSING NEED ... And we wonder why our children can't read. Or weld. Or use a table saw or a lathe, or even a sewing machine! Wake up folks. By the time they decorate their offices and read their e-mail, it's time to "clock out" for another day. When was the last time you heard of a MCOE program providing what the KIDS need? Somehow the buck always stops at "facilities upgrades" and "staff development". Will we ever be rid of all the top-heavy bureacracy that sucks all the funds away from true education? |

Once again, the public does not understand how the state allocates money to the schools. Do not blame local leaders for the fact that money given to the schools by the state for deferred maintenance cannot be used for anything except building upgrades and maintenance. It is also very unfortunate that if a school district does not use its deferred maintenance money, the state will take it away from them in future years and give it to schools who will use it for that purpose. Then in a few years, when the budget turns around, people will be screaming that the buildings their children go to school in are falling apart and no one is doing anything about it. Why? Because they can't money meant for the classroom and use it for deferred maintenance.
