Measure B police state coming?

Couldn't agree more and I am Yes on B. Mendocino is now in compliance with State Law, isn't that what McCowen and his cronies wanted? Now it isn't good enough? Move on...

actually the author is mistaken on at least one point; there have been plenty of occasions in which citizens have formed watchdog groups to monitor law enforcement

I would like to thank the marijuana growers hear in Northern California for shooting at some of the fire fighting aircraft that led to the aircraft having been grounded for awhile at one point. I am sure it was effective in stopping the cops on board these aircraft from spotting your marijuana grows. I am sure the fire's will skip your marijuana and burn everything else that you don't care about! Thanks again. And I voted yes for 215. I won't again.

nothing will stop the cops ....and why isnt this in the news .one shooting maniac dosent describe the whole growing community. |

Maybe you haven't noticed but the commercial marijuana lobby certainly is not willing to accept the will of the voters. That is one reason why it is necessary to point out the dirty tricks and voter fraud that No on B encouraged. The opponents of No on B are also sueing to overturn it. And if the current lawsuit fails they will sue again. And they have filed a notice of intention to circulate petitions to put Measure G back on the ballot. Didn't we just vote to repeal Measure G? Isn't that good enough for them? No, it is not. No one is trying to make this a police state, but we don't want it to be a narco state either. Having won the election, the Yes on B Coaliton understands that it is necessary to stay involved to see that Measure B is effectively implemented. The request that people who complain about commercial and problem growers copy that information to the coalition is so we can see how it is being enforced. And the intention is to have it enforced against commercial and problem growers. |

enforced???whatever Mendocino County Won't Enforce Pot Measure By Mike Geniella CN Source: Press Democrat July 03, 2008 California Mendocino County's top law enforcement officials announced Wednesday they won't be enforcing a voter-approved crackdown on medical marijuana cultivation. Citing pending legal challenges to local and state-approved limits, the Sheriff's Office and district attorney said they will temporarily not enforce the plant limits set forth in Measure B. Instead county law enforcement will continue to allow possession and cultivation of 25 plants. However, in a change of policy, the county limit will apply to the number of plants on a parcel, and not simply the number grown for an individual's use. The twist is provided in a marijuana ordinance approved by the Board of Supervisors. It also bans growing of marijuana for any reason within 1,000 feet of a school, school bus stop, church, youth-oriented facility or a park. In effect, county officials said they believe the property standard is independent of the legal issues surrounding individual plant limits. Medical marijuana advocates are challenging any individual limits on possession, citing Prop. 215, a 1996 statewide initiative that decriminalized marijuana use for medicinal purposes. They contend the initiative didn't specify numbers, stating only that medical marijuana use should be "reasonable" depending on a patient's need. continued |

You can dream about no enforcement, but as the song says "If you got a warrant, I guess you're gonna come in." |

Good point! This is why the commercial grower SUPPORTED B even though it is unconstitutional and illegal. Interesting how you and many of the Yes people have no problem with the fact that the guidelines you are trying to force down the throats of MMJ users have been ruled unconstitutional, but when the No side exercises their legal to fight this BS you get all up in arms. Not to mention the fact that it was put on the ballot w/o collecting signatures and had NO public input. But god forbid the other side tries to exercise their right to democracy by placing something on the ballot.... I think someone's been reading the propaganda in the UDJ a bit too much... |

Who do you know who is a commercial grower and supported B? |

Yes, if these commercial growers are opponents of your interest, now is certainly none too soon to name them. |

These heartless, greedy drug dealers don't care one bit about helping any sick people. Not that smoking anything is healthy for anyone. This county mistakenly bent over backwards in support of these alleged "medicine makers" and all they did was get more numerous and more greedy.
The growers grew enough pot to get every sick person in the country ripped but that wasn't enough. Then the growers grew more enough pot to get every adult pot head in the nation stoned out of their minds but that wasn't enough. The growers continued greedily to produce enough pot to make it abundantly available in every High School and Junior High School in the nation and they still aren't satisfied. Now they are marketing mountains of pot to half the Grade Schools in the country. "snitch on your neighbors" & "authoritarian police state" WHAT A JOKE. We need to get together as a county and stop these greedy, child poisoning drug dealers from the billions of dollars in profit that they are making off of our kids. Don't listen to the drug dealer’s lie about how kids can't afford pot. Fact #1 Pot is in every school in the nation. Fact #2 It is the greedy, heartless, rich, pot growing drug dealers that put it there. Stop the crime. Help save our kids health, educations and futures. |

Notice how it is Janie Shepherd, marijuana defense lawyer and No on B supporter who is the one raising the fear of a police state. No on B has also promoted the hysteria that dieing cancer patients will be thrown in prison. So much for wanting to find the common ground or find a solution. And now they want to bring back Measure G. Didn't we just vote on that? Who was bleating about the need to respect the will of the voters?

Well said, Janie Sheppard!
I think the "sore winner" attitude McCowen displays is because their margin of victory was so small. There are 47040 registered voters in the county. Only 14577 of them voted Yes on B. Their victory is tenous at best and may well be only temporary. As to his spurious and unsubstantiated allegations of voter registration fraud: You know they're worried when they lie about you. |

oops - I messed up by putting that in the quoted post.
Sorry 'bout that. But you get the point, I'm sure.:-) (Why doesn't this bbs have an edit funcion???) |
It looks to be like No on B are sore losers since you are trying to overturn the will of the voters by a lawsuit and are also planning to put Measure G back on the ballot. The fact is, we just voted and you lost. Even with registering as many out of county marijuana workers as you could, you still lost. How about the voters registered at the No on B mail drop? I know you find it inconvenient, but you are actually supposed to be a resident of the county in order to vote here. But go ahead if you wish. Put Measure G on the ballot if you want. I think we will vote it down by about 60% this time. |

Ain't this whole thing a boondoggle?
1. Limits-caps-thresholds-leaf-tr im-buds? 2. per Parcel-per card-per sq.ft.-per need? 3. city-county-state-federal? 4 voters-B.O.S.-sheriff-D.A.-Gov ner-AttGen-Supremes 5. Dispensaries-coops-collectives -drug stores-7/11s? With less than 50% of the population being former or present users, legalization is still far off? |
