I don't know why they're doing it," Ansari said of the opposition, which numbered 130 at the February hearing.
"It will provide services to the neighborhood and bring jobs as well," he said. what services will it provide that aren't already provided by Chavez Market 100 yards away? and i'd be curious to know about these jobs that he claims will be created, as in my experience these markets often bring their employees in from out of the area, not to mention there never seems to be more than 2 employees for this type of operation, one of which is usually the owner. sorry, but i just can't get on board with this whole thing.

I don't agree with this either. they limit the size of the alcohol container, but not how many one can purchase. this makes no sense and there is no reason for this so close to a public school. I don't live in Ukiah, I live in Willits but if I were there I'd be outraged by this. What good does it do to stop the sale of alcohol at 9 p.m. when the children are already out of school and home by then?

there is a bar right next to the school

Dobbs,
You once again have proven your ignorance or state of stonedness..... Reflections indeed was just up the street....Less than a 1/4 mile. I am so glad you respond with your stupidity, it proves that you have NO CLUE!

If this is a deli I will eat my camelhair suit. It's a quicky mart that sells cigarettes, liquor and bad coffee. Plain and simple.

and while on the subject of "avalon" They are now closed, as put by the owner," we didn't have the business to support staying open"
Why not??? With the thousands of card holders in Ukiah alone he should have had a line out the front door. You see the Medical aspect of all of this is bogus or this guy would have had a burgeoning business.
Second, The owner said that he had way more people trying to sell to him than were trying to buy his product.. I know you weed brains will try and say "See we DO have many people growing out of compassion....WRONG!!! In my experience, and I know ALOT of growers, the only weed that makes it to the dispensary is the weed that can't be sold on the street because there is an over-abundance of it in our town!

Here, I will respond for you Dobbs... Lies, Lies...
That is your only response because you can base nothing on fact!!!
There ARE Telephone lineman afraid to do their jobs, public land IS being abducted and there WAS a dispensary in the area of the school. SO, get YOUR facts straight and try and refute an argument with more than "Liar, Liar pants on fire"

Of Course it is ok. This man deserves a chance to do something nice and needed in this community. He has alot of great ideas.

I signed the petition for Ghulam and he does have good ideas. He wants to open a deli that is healthy. He also wants to do a bag lunch program so that moms can pick up bag lunches on the way to school. He also is going to live in this community.

Let him have a try i believe the term "deli" is being used loosely to describe a 7-Eleven type of establishment. that said, it would be nice to have another REAL deli in town (not that there's anything wrong w/ The Bottle Shop)

Then why didn't he open this healthy deli thats going to provide sack lunches to children, along time ago? What does beer have to do with a deli?

SO, get YOUR facts straight and try and refute an argument with more than "Liar, Liar pants on fire" There are regulations against opening a dispensary near a school; it was part of SB 420 I believe, which was passed a few years ago. This is a FACT; anyone can go read it at the library of congress. You obviously have no clue about medical regulations. And what the hell do your other points have to do with this deli opening or MMJ laws? Oh yeah, NOTHING. Friggin' moron...

Great point, Miss Kitty. If a deli was the real goal, why this fight with the neighbors about selling beer? Even more appalling to me is the state ABC judge - who doesn't live in your community - throwing out over one hundred valid protests by community residents! Outrageous abuse of power! Also - I thought that Ukiah was a "moratorium" city: deemed (by the ABC as a matter of fact) as already being "over-saturated" with stores that sell beer and wine!!!! Maybe the most outrageous thing is that some local official blew off the 100+ residents and told the ABC it was OK with them for this business to sell alcohol at that location.* *In a moratorium city, the state ABC will not grant a license UNLESS the local governing body submits a form saying that it serves "local convenience and necessity". Guess the local governing body doesn't give a ---- about what the residents think. vote 'em out!!
