On 06/29/08 at approximately 11:20 am deputies were dispatched to the Round Valley Fire Department regarding a victim of domestic assault at the location. Upon their arrival, the victim stated that she had escaped from her residence after being held there against her will.
The victim went on to say that two days earlier, she and her boyfriend Jack Towers were at an unknown residence in Humboldt County when she was assaulted by Towers. Towers allegedly threw the victim into a ditch after an argument. Towers then threatened to kill the victim with a large knife. Towers and another unknown adult male obtained an electrical cord, stripped the end of the cord exposing the wire, plugged the cord in and attempted to shock the victim. The victim pulled away and the cord was pulled from the outlet.
Towers and the victim then returned to the victims residence in Covelo where Towers continued the assault. At one point during the assault, Towers allegedly used a shotgun to poke the victim in the body and again threatened to kill the victim while holding the shotgun to her head. The victim had bruising consistent with this action.
The victim was then tied by chain to a large iron ball for about an hour until Towers gave her a key to the padlock to release herself. The assault continued through the evening.
During the early morning hours of 06/29/08 the victim was able to sneak away where she went to the residence of the Tribal Police Chief. Chief Lyndon Duke noted her injuries and transported her to the Round Valley Fire Department. Deputies went to the residence in an effort to arrest the suspect but he could not be located.
During the ongoing investigation it was learned that the assault originally thought to have occurred in Humboldt County was actually in Mendocino County at a residence on Red Mountain Access Road in Piercy. A photo line-up was completed whereupon Rodney Harty was identifed.
On 07/19/08 deputies went to that residence where Harty was arrested without incident. Also located at the residence were 344 marijuana plants.
Attempts to locate Jack Towers were unsuccessful until Towers was stopped by officers from California Highway Patrol in Humboldt County for a minor traffic violation. Towers was also arrested withount incident and transported to the Mendocino County Jail where he is being held on a no bail status.

Nice people, huh?

Name Age Street Address City, State
Suspect #1: Melinda Hendricks 34 29431 Albion Ridge Rd. Albion, CA

Written by: Sergeant Greg Stefani
Synopsis: On 082808 a resident of the Albion Ridge area returned to his residence from a prolonged absence and found that it had been broken into and numerous items were stolen. This burglary was reported to Mendocino County Sheriff Deputies, who recognized that one of the items reported as stolen was a shotgun that had been seized from Melinda Hendricks on 082008.
At that time Hendricks had stated that she had taken the shotgun from her cousin, James Herriot Jr., while he had been sleeping in his car at the property where she lives.(Herriot was arrested on 082008 for several outstanding warrants and violation of parole and is being held in the Mendocino County Jail without bail).
During the evening of 082808 Mendocino County Deputy Sheriffs went to Melinda Hendricks’ residence where they observed several of the reported stolen items in plain view. Hendricks was also found to be under the influence of a controlled substance in violation 11550(a) H&S. Hendricks was arrested for violations of 11550(a) H&S and 496(a) PC, possession of stolen property.
On 082908 deputies sought, and were granted, a search warrant for Hendricks’ residence. On 082908 Mendocino County Sheriff Deputies served the search warrant and recovered further stolen property, as well as methamphetamine and 99 growing marijuana plants. The methamphetamine and the stolen property were seized and the marijuana was eradicated.
Hendricks remains in the Mendocino County Jail with bail set at $15,000.00.

Just look around lady, there is a larger meth epidemic in Mendocino County today than ever before.
Every corner homeless people. Transients in the Police logs all look like patients from the Mendocino State Hospital. The people arrested in the Booking Logs all look like they are 40 years old when they are only in their 20's.
Just look at the teeth of those arrested, if you took 10 arrestees you may find one full set of teeth, no extras however. The Booking Records are proof of the Epidemic you fools deny. An average of 6 "controlled substance" arrests every day,
why don't they find the dealers and the cooks?
The truth is our county makes alot of money busting the users. They know who the cooks are, they wave to them from their Patrol Cars everyday.
Just look around, I've never seen so many cranked out dark people in one area. Mendocino is looking like Clearlake.
And all you fools care about is rating your neighbors cause you fools don't like the smell of marijuana, THATS A REAL SELFISH OUTLOOK.
So go after the mom and poppers all you want.
Its only the distraction to the real problem,
The speed culture is alive and well in any town in Mendocino County.

Just loved Pinches and Colfax's response of how the county should be dealing with the 10,000 plant patches, instead of wasting time and money busting "mom and Pops" gardens.
Colfax relays that we should go back to reading the constitution. Pinches says that Measure G was to put the pressure on the large gardens, Measure B worries about the 6-25 plant gardens while 10,000 plant gardens are sucking the eel river dry, he says again " no I don't mean sucking the eel river down, I'm talking about these large gardens sucking the eel river dry". he futhers "were sitting here worrying about gardens of 6-25 plants while there are hundreds of 10,000 + plant crops"

Colfax says- "were not dealing with the 10,000 plant issues, were not dealing with the 5,000 plant issues, precisely because we have limits to what a county can do on those cases, so were picking on the mom and poppers, precisely with those who were out there during the last campaign talkin about save our local economy, I'm not sure if that is what is really about but the fact of the matter is whats happening, were going after the mom and poppers with 6-25 plants. If thats your idea of justice in Mendocino County today then I think we need to go back to reading our constitution."

Yes, nice people. Why doesn't the Hawaiian Spammer comment on the real meth problem in Mendocino County? The marijuana/meth/money/career criminal connection that has brought so many meth addicts to Mendocino County to participate in the commercial cultivation of marijuana?

Probably because he reaps rewards from some pot garden. You have it right. The pot is the root of the problem. Of course none of the growers will ever admit it. But we can just keep pointing it out :) BRING IN THE FEDS!!

This one is for Watcher. Were are all the tens of millions of pot addicted kids in this report? Oh, wait, they must be included in the prescription pill usage stats.

Drug Use: Prescription Pills Up, Cocaine and Meth Down, Marijuana Holds Steady
http://stopthedrugwar.org/chronicle/550/surve...

Nearly 20 million Americans used illicit drugs in the month before responding to an annual national survey last year, according to the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA). That figure includes not only illegal drugs, but also prescription drugs used for non-medical purposes. The numbers come from the National Survey on Drug Use and Health, which interviewed 67,500 people for its annual report.

The numbers for overall drug use are similar to those for recent years, although the survey reported marginal declines in cocaine and methamphetamine use among young people. Among 18-to-25-year-olds, cocaine use dropped to 1.7%, down 23% from 2006, while meth use dropped to 0.4%, down about a third from 2006.

Drug control officials attributed the decline to increased interdiction and enforcement leading to higher prices. But the decline could reflect the generational learning curve typically observed in drug use patterns over time.

The declines in illegal stimulant use were countered by an increase in the non-medical use of prescription pain pills. According to the survey, 4.6% of young adults reported using pain pills for non-medical reasons last year, a 12% increase over 2006.

Marijuana remains by far the most commonly used illicit drug, with an estimated 14.4 million people reporting use in the previous month. That is about 5.8% of the population, down slightly from 6% in 2006.

Baby boomers moving into their fifties are taking their drug habits with them, according to the survey. Illicit drug use among those 55 to 59 more than doubled to 4.1% last year.

Despite millions of drug arrests and hundreds of billions of dollars spent enforcing drug prohibition in the past three decades, drug use levels remain roughly where they have been for the entire period.

They likely would be focusing on commercial grows, Most legitimate medical patients have obvious proof of ailments and wouldn't be worth the trouble. Let's be logical. Most of the same people fighting for eradication would also fight for the rights of medical patients. But not the ones that use it for ulcers or sprained ankles and etc. Actually, it would serve us well in getting the medical usage legalized everywhere in the USA.
