I agree that growers should do more to help the communities in which they live. make a donation every summer to the missions and food banks. Donate time or money.

If we had a tax on growing, the funds could be used to supplement the missing funds for our community. 10% of 1.5 billion dollars is 150 million. What could we do with 150 million dollars in Mendocino county? A HELL OF A LOT!

We don't need growers. That article about the dispensary owner who closed down because the supply of MJ greatly outweighs the demand?

How about replacing your MJ gardens with vegetable gardens and donate any extra food you grow to food banks, charities, or just the family next door who may be struggling. I do that. Oh wait, that would truly be compassionate and there is no [illegal] money in it.

Louise, Louise, Louise.....It's all about the money and the sooner you realize this, the sooner you will realize that it is human nature to abuse any advantage that is presented, whether you are a dope grower, public official or out of work mill worker. Really Louise, grow up and question yourself.

So far I am the only local to have commented on this editorial. I am constantly "not" amazed by the persistent interest of outside entities in the politics of this back woods locale. POT, MONEY, GREED, gotta not love it.

Inside,

Really like a good debate myself, short of name-calling.

Name-calling and out of control he-said/she-said, and no I'm not/yes you are!

Gets like that and I am out, topic becomes second fiddle.

However, I do like reading your comments, makes sense to me and keep up good work.
Your type of participation is fresh air to this stale, ordinary name calling teeter-totter Reality-Cheech'n-Chong up in smoke, hidden mirrors routine gittin' a little old!

I am quite certain many people have realized that we have a bona fide Loony-toon in our presence, I don't mention names, but sounds something like Reality Checker.

Ummm, how should I say it without insulting someone who may figure out I'm talking about them... "KOO-KOO!"
I just sit back and watch the cavalcade of comedic-fireworks extravaganza.

Hang in there; nice job!

Don't flatter yourself, or self deprecate for that matter. You were "not" the only "local". Judge not by ISP locale alone...

Yea........Growers and smokers don't vote!!!!!!???? I wonder who voted to pass measure "G" 10 years ago?? Must have been compasionate "Rednecks" and the "Anti-Pot" crowd??
Strange how growers and smokers mingle about in our society, and don't stick out like some kind of freaks??!!!
Mendocino County can't survive the loss of the timber industry, fishing industry, tourism generated by the fishing industry?? What the hell......let's outlaw every way there is to survive!! Growers bring in revenues which would have never been spent here. Regardless as to whether full taxes are paid on income, at least local businesses reap some of the rewards. It's sure better than the alternative??
Vote NO on measure "B"

Hmmm, I vote, I donate one day a week to my sons kindergarten class. Just finished the insulation and drywall in the new Little League snack shack, no charge for labor and material. I am building a large storage shed for my sons old preschool, again no charge for the labor and material. A little over $6,800.00 on that so far. Insulation, solatubes, plumbing and drywall on the parents club snack shack at my sons elementary school, labor and materials donated. Easter dinner for the homeless at my church all day Easter Sunday including cleanup. Left around seven p.m. Employ five people with living wage, payroll taxes and workmens comp.included. Registered voter. I could go on but suffice to say that I will vote no on B.......

i didnt say they all didnt vote did i? I was just surprised when I found out that a great deal of them do not. I encourage them to and even offer rides (especially to those IN FAVOR of G!)
so dont get all **** at someone who was just making an honest statement not an accusation. I wish more of them would vote.

I am NOT in favor of outlawing the industry that makes this environment flourish. I never said that at all. PS WE ARE ALREADY TAXED UPON TAXED AND THEN TAXED AGAIN, illegally and legally so please dont act like because i made a statement about lack of voting it means i am for b I AM AGAINST IT

Might I suggest reading a few books before, basing an obviously one sided opinions on what you read in the local papers that thrive on scaring our local society to sell there product. What sad is most of the growers farming yards and yards of marijuana can afford a good lawyer to get them off time and time again, but the one trying to pay PG&E is the is the one going to jail.
First off most of the people in this community are scared to death of getting there doors bashed in and having a gun put in there mouth. If it’s not the law enforcement you have to worry about it’s the kids roaming around in the middle of the night. I once read an article of a man that got beating up and robed police got 60 plants and some processed indoor. The only one noted in the paper about getting arrested was the home owner
People look at history here, read a philosophy book don’t be some closed minded.“Ethical relativism implies that one cannot criticize the moral norms of a society but must conform to them” There are children being killed in parts of the world as a norm there a elderly people being left to die in the woods, and they dare to profile the guy in the dreadlocks. There is already 40 deaths in Oakland and we are in another county trying to tell them what to do we are in a recession the Euro is killing the American dollar.

I am too petrified to get my doors kicked off the hinges and men running in and scaring my children to even consider it. Then proceeding to put a semi automatic weapon in my mouth, I have long read these threads and agree there is plenty of ignorance to go around. Some people don’t even know why they are fighting for one side or the other.
The fact is that it has been part of our community for years, but also another fact is in the face of society now. I can completely see that the growing has got out of hand in this community but growing has been here for the whole 45 years if my life, and our community has thrived since prop 215 look at all then new business in the community that would have not been here the remodel of our historic county mall. I have read time and time again that growers don’t contribute to society, are you really that blind?
Look around you its everywhere DA has been arrested teachers fire at what point to they accept it as the norm and start to figure out ways to make it a integrated part of or society if you really hate growers that much get it legalized, because its not going the other way.
People automatically assume all growers are bad so is this not a form of discrimination how are they different from the Jews of the past the minorities the gays they are living a way of life that makes them happy I don’t know where you guys work, but think of the loggers of the past the lost there jobs was there not controversy that what they where trained to do and they where good at it not to say it was right, it was in fact a way of life that got killed for them.
As for things are now I would like to see it get legalized, because the only reason the community is upset is the “growers” have more then them I hope one day it will be an acceptable job. I simple despise alcohol my father was an Alcoholic and as a result often abused my neigbore was a “grower” I eat well and they treated me with the utmost respect..
I do have one thing to say if your happy with those “Growers” getting held at gun point, being publicly humiliated in papers daily, and being the “bottom feeders” of our society you should reconsider your own life. If they are truly ‘bottom feeders” what’s going to happen if they can’t grow are they going to make crack? Are they going to robe our homes? In the view of some of your eyes the answer is yes. Also in the view of some of your eyes they should be locked up with child molesters and murderers….
I know a few businesses in town that are funded on meth and if I know how doesn’t the Law enforcement know? I have friends in Ukiah that have pointed out people “that is a major meth dealer? Again why are we so made about a plant that has been used for medication for years?
Ethics begins when a person reflects on her moral standards or the moral standards of her society and ask whether these standards are reasonable or unreasonable.
Everyone has something to hide it’s just not open to the public to debate. I hope I didn’t offend anyone these are simple my feelings and if you care to ripe on my grammar or spell or punctuation have at it. I did not have anyone around when I was younger to care for me or point my direction in life I followed my own bath and it has lead me to happiness it’s not a elaborate college background and I don’t get invited to societies
Balls, but I am happy.
