Cancer in Mendo... Try 8mcG of MS and some Chamomile tea. F.D.A. Dismisses Medical Benefit From Marijuana WASHINGTON, April 20 — The Food and Drug Administration said Thursday that "no sound scientific studies" supported the medical use of marijuana, contradicting a 1999 review by a panel of highly regarded scientists. The announcement inserts the health agency into yet another fierce political fight. Susan Bro, an agency spokeswoman, said Thursday's statement resulted from a past combined review by federal drug enforcement, regulatory and research agencies that concluded "smoked marijuana has no currently accepted or proven medical use in the United States and is not an approved medical treatment." http://www.nytimes.com/2006/04/21/health/21ma... |

Personally, giving the B a yes is simply a pacifier. It gives the indication that some are willing to let MJ be used as a medicine. when the AMA has clearly stated their OPPOSITION to any 'drug' that has to be smoked will **N E V E R** gain their approval, in that smoking in and of itself, no matter the compound or drug does harm, and the Hippocratic Oath state:#1 "DO NO HARM!" So, screw the druggies. KEEP POT OUTLAWED! And the FDA ALSO has cut bait on the issue, and denied any medical motivation to keep re-hashing the same old dead horse: F.D.A. Dismisses Medical Benefit From Marijuana By GARDINER HARRIS WASHINGTON, April 20 — The Food and Drug Administration said Thursday that "no sound scientific studies" supported the medical use of marijuana, contradicting a 1999 review by a panel of highly regarded scientists. WANT some more, fuzz-brain? Inter-Agency Advisory Regarding Claims That Smoked Marijuana Is a Medicine Claims have been advanced asserting smoked marijuana has a value in treating various medical conditions. Some have argued that herbal marijuana is a safe and effective medication and that it should be made available to people who suffer from a number of ailments upon a doctor's recommendation, even though it is not an approved drug. Marijuana is listed in schedule I of the Controlled Substances Act (CSA), the most restrictive schedule. The Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), which administers the CSA, continues to support that placement and FDA concurred because marijuana met the three criteria for placement in Schedule I under 21 U.S.C. 812(b)(1)(e.g., marijuana has a high potential for abuse, has no currently accepted medical use in treatment in the United States, and has a lack of accepted safety for use under medical supervision). Furthermore, there is currently sound evidence that smoked marijuana is harmful. A past evaluation by several Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) agencies, including the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) and National Institute for Drug Abuse (NIDA), concluded that no sound scientific studies supported medical use of marijuana for treatment in the United States, and no animal or human data supported the safety or efficacy of marijuana for general medical use. There are alternative FDA-approved medications in existence for treatment of many of the proposed uses of smoked marijuana. http://www.fda.gov/bbs/topics/news/2006/new01... |

Hey ML, That's freaking hilarious! Question; where do you derive your handle from? Mind if I take a stab, will not overstep boundaries, promise... did you work in Dept 21 a while back? _S_ |
You unlike so many other people beleive in vicodin for pain. i personally don't care for prescription pain pills which include vicodin. do you realize how many people are addicted to this pill, not to mention oxycontin that is so freely given out by doctors and then sold on the streets by the patients? and this is all supposedly legal government made prescription drugs. have you ever seen the withdrawls some people go through from these government made pills? |

very well said! |

The Feds will take care of the mega grows this year, as evidenced by the new drones and manpower. That will allow Allman and company plenty of spare time to get after you tie-dyed scofflaws. THANKS UNCLE TOM! Remember, more than six plants and "I'm breakin' rocks in the - HOT SUN - I fought the law and the, law won, I fought the law, and the, LAW WON." |
