I feel really sorry for the kids! The kids are the ones that suffer. Not just in this case but in all cases where parents grow/sell/distribute an illegal substance. The children that are exposed to this are brought up thinking that there is noting wrong with it - that it is NOT ILLEGAL. What a shame that they are in a sense being tought to disregard authority of any kind. I have had family members with cancer, I myself have had 2 major back surgeries and never once used pot for pain control or appitite enhancer with the cancer family members. But that just our family - guess we have a high tolerance for pain. O and did I mention - I returned to my job that requires me to lift over 75 lbs. Mind over matter people. YES ON B!!!!!!!!

Pot growing is not criminal it is legal under prop 215 and measure G. Pot growers are responsible they are teachers, doctors, lawyers, judges, congress, and even presidents. And pot growers are good parents and good people. Now, of course some growers are crappy people but so too are many non-growers. Eneough with the ignorance, you are very prejudice. NO ON B!!!! Call congressman Mike Thompson's office tell him to Support HR 5843 the federal decriminalization of small amounts of marijuana for adults-stop the arrests!

As 2Sense stated, the realities of the illegal world of pot go far beyond what allot of these growers care to admit to.

The growers seem to think that all would be fine if every one stopped being concerned for the kids and education and if all the greed and weirdness just disappeared.

This is a fantasy world that allows getting stoned and rich to continue but doesn't help the kids or do away with the criminal influence at all.

The world the pot growers are describing is like one of those paintings where it shows a lion, a sheep, a tiger, a deer and two people reclined under a tree.

This world doesn't exist, it never did. Greed and irresponsibility always has hurt someone. As long as it's not the pot growers, they don't seem to care.

can't wait till measure b passes and people like this will all stop growing pot!!!.

(yeah right).

People with guns and illegal bypasses and 800 plants (or even 387 plants) don't give a hoot about measure b. Except the possibility that it will -- maybe -- increase their motivation and increase their profits, if the price of pot goes back up to where it was a few years ago. The Mexican cartels who plant the big trespass grows in CA's state parks and national forests, like the 6,000 plants they tore down in Big Basin Park in Santa Cruz yesterday, couldn't care less, either. As Sgt. Carney says: "most of the marijuana-growing operations his team uproots are controlled by Mexican drug cartels who pay caretakers to watch the crops".

YES ON B wrote

Big grows go beyond the bounds of reason in that they attempt to allow a man's appetite by ignoring legislation, and make profits out of those things that are crimes. A big grow strikes a blow at the very principles upon which our government was founded.

I'm on your side, But!
This county also has tens of thousands of smaller grow sites (several hundred plants) that also sell their pot to any buyer no matter how young.

Growing pot for sale is illegal!

There is no legitimate side to the pot business!

Any size commercial grow strikes a blow at the very principles upon which our government was founded.

Big or small, poisoning kids with illegal drugs is wrong.

Umm...George Washington was a hemp farmer, as was Thomas Jefferson. Ben Franklin also ran a hemp mill. This country was founded in part on the hemp industry. Most of the founding fathers were also staunch anti-prohibitionists.

"Make the most of the Indian hemp seed,
and sow it everywhere!"

George Washington
 - Note to the gardener at Mount Vernon, 1794
 "The Writings of George Washington"
Volume 33, page 270 (Library of Congress).

Somehow I doubt Mr. Washington would agree with our current drug laws...

I'm starting to wonder about your intelligence.

First of all I didn't write this.
"Watcher wrote:

Second,
George Washington, Thomas Jefferson and Ben Franklin may have run hemp mills. They definitely didn't grow marijuana for smoking purposes and market it to children the way tens of thousands of people in Mendocino do.

They grew industrial hemp for rope and sails, not high THC grass for smoking. Get sober, then drop a line....

Your ability to reason is nothing less than scrambled eggs.

First
Some of our first presidents owned hemp farms. They didn't grow "get high" pot and sell it to kids the way local growers do

Second
Any teachers, doctors, lawyers, judges or members of congress that grow and sell pot today are not responsible good people. They are criminal drug dealers.

Third
Any parents that willingly and knowingly place their kids in harms way by growing pot in or around the home are not good parents. They are also criminally irresponsible.

Fourth
Prop 215 specifically states that selling pot is illegal.

The pot growers "Days of Delusion" are over.

Watcher seems to think that ALL pot is sold only to children. Where does he get that information?

I wonder what Watcher thinks about parents drinking alcohol in front of their children.

The reason why we are having so much trouble with drugs in our schools is because there are so many people like reality checker that don't care about how many kids are exposed to illegal drugs.

When ever parents get very intoxicated in front of their kids it's a bad thing.

How many parents keep several hundred thousand dollars worth of alcohol in the home?

Oh, and Watcher your whole "save the kids" line is getting old. It's pretty damn clear if you read some of your responses, like the one to the Ukiah Skate Park article and others, that you don't give a hoot about the kids around here. If you are so concerned with our children, why do you seem to think they are all gang members, all sell drugs and are all destined to failure? Stop trying to use our children for your political agenda; it's disgraceful.

Don't tell me the hemp of today is the same as the rope making material of the Colonial Era. In the '60s the THC content of pot was 1% to 3%. Now the THC content is often up to 15% to 20%. The 'killer weed' many are using these days is indeed killing the brain function of otherwise healthy people. Youthful brains are even more susceptible to the harmful effects of THC.

George Washington definitly did grow hemp along with a few smoking varieties. So quit lying about our history and stating what you believe as fact.

"Save the Kids" seems to be the same bull**** line as "support the troops" it's a ploy to deflect the truth. I guess the only way to "save the kids" is to pass measure BS. If it passes than all the kids of the world will be saved. Kind of like how "no child left behind" left no child behind. I'm being sarcastic for those who don't know.

Watcher show us a few articles or proof that this pot is being sold to the kids. Kids get a hold of alcohol, cigarettes, prescription drugs, pot and many other things all of which do much more harm than pot. The only thing you can show is that some smoking devices have cartoons on them(probably less than 1%) which I personally haven't seen yet and the smoking devices are not made by the growers.
Your "save the kids" argument is bogus.
