WATCH WATCHER wants the non pot growers of Mendocino County to just except the fact that these drug dealers aren't going away and that selling pot to kids is a legal way to make money.

well enough is enough.I was a friend to all of the Deputies and yes they all had a few problems. they were all real good men. The problem was and is supervision. when a person has the power, it corrupts, so supervisors need to steop in and supervise. Neither the Sheriff when he was a Lieutenant or in his present job has done a good job of supervising, just look at the mess. Sgt Barney has not supervised because all of this was known. There are problems, when the private investigator came to talk to me about this investigation, he was all about the bad things I did and did not want to listen to the answers I was giving him, he was paid for by the county.
as for the other things, it all boils down to lack of supervision, plain and true. I know it was brought up about Shannonb, because I told and tried to work with Allman on making things better in Covelo, he wouldnt listen.

As 2Sense stated, the realities of the illegal world of pot go far beyond what allot of these growers care to admit to.

The growers seem to think that all would be fine if every one stopped being concerned for the kids and education and if all the greed and weirdness just disappeared.

This is a fantasy world that allows getting stoned and rich to continue but doesn't help the kids or do away with the criminal influence at all.

The world the pot growers are describing is like one of those paintings where it shows a lion, a sheep, a tiger, a deer and two people reclined under a tree.

This world doesn't exist, it never did. Greed and irresponsibility always has hurt someone. As long as it's not the pot growers, they don't seem to care.

Thank you "a_friend". I think he listens, but as long as it's behind closed doors he just doesn't care. The same attitude he demonstrated as Lt. which lead to, and increased the problems in Covelo, now has a direct impact on the entire county. Tom is all about Tom and his public image. He is currently mad because the problems are becoming known along with his duplicity in the matters, and YES, his inability to supervise.

His answer is to put his buddies in power, and tell everyone else to just shut up or they are out of a job.

The problems will never go away, and new problems will always present themselves, but we need a Sheriff who first doesn't cause the problems, and second is man/woman enough to step up to deal with them. Not just throw tantrums, and be all consumed with damage control.

Tom should stop worrying about re-election. I don't think he is going to get another turn at the trough. And I will say before someone asks again, JUST VOTE NO on TOM, my preference for Sheriff is anyone else. There are plenty of good guys still around in the Sheriff's Office to pick from, they are just over-shadowed right now by the corruption at the top.

Still waiting to hear from all of those insider Allman supporters.

This question may seem naive but it's from the heart.

Why is it that none of these "good men" came forward with any letters, statements or articles revealing the problem. This problem got bad enough for two suicides and still none of these "good men" have stepped up.

This county also has tens of thousands of smaller grow sites (several hundred plants) that also sell their pot to any buyer no matter how young.

Growing pot for sale is illegal!

There is no legitimate side to the pot business!

Any size commercial grow strikes a blow at the very principles upon which our government was founded.

Big or small, poisoning kids with illegal drugs is wrong.

Watcher, that is the point of the whole law suit and the investigation spoken of. Jason cox did come forward and report it. And since he reported it, he was penalized in many ways including Tom Allman promoting everyone on the Sergeant list except Jason Cox who was rated number 1. Tom Allman and Shannon Barney have done and continue to do anything they can to cause problems with Jason due to him standing up against both for a problem that had existed way before he came to work for the Sheriff Department.

Even better, Tom Allman and Shannon Barney's criminal ways are being brought up in court in official inquiries that may soon see the light of public information and enter the court of public opinion if not a criminal court. It is only a matter of time before the public gets to see what has happened any fortunately for us, it will be before Tom has a chance or re-election.

A note to the marijuana growers. Tom may be the guy you want in office due to his support of you and some of your support of him. But keep this in mind. What is better, a Sheriff who you can buy who you are wondering about his selective enforcement or a Sheriff who states where he stands and you can gauge your activity always knowing whether you are in the right or wrong. I personally always want to know where Law Enforcement stands. I want to know that the speed is 65 for me and everyone else not 85 for some and 45 for me. But that is just my thinking.
