Ok: "Parents of high school kids in rehab, wake up!"
Do you want to add the burden of a criminal conviction to a kid who already is having other troubles?
That said, don't waste your money on rehab plans, getting your kid to stop smoking pot is a worthless waste of time since it's harmless and counterproductive.
The problem with your kid isn't that he's smoking pot.
The problem with your kid is that he doesn't want to do anything BUT smoke pot.
That problem, quite simply, isn't the pot.
It's the kid (actually, it's the parents).
I can name quite a few kids in this town (people just out of high school) who smoke plenty of pot and are quite productive members of the community.
Rehab is a waste of money unless you are attacking the problem (terminal boredom, IMHO).
If the parents had spent time when the kids were seven showing them how to educate and entertain themselves, when they were fifteen, they'd smoke pot and do something productive.
Since they didn't, they smoke pot and do nothing (or do something destructive).
But it's awfully nice of you, James, to feel so badly for the parents that you want to give them the straw man of potheads to beat on instead of letting them experience the anguish of wasting more than their own lives.
Perhaps you had the experience yourself.
Got it. Pot is "harmless" to our youths minds. You are nuttier than a fruitcake. Did you ever try to learn ANYTHING while stoned? Well, I reckon so...... Feed your own kids dope, not mine.

ACCORDING TO A RECENT STORY IN THE WILLITS NEWS, SHERIFF TOM ALLMAN STATED THAT HE SUPPORTS “LEGITIMATE” MEDICAL MARIJUANA” AND OPPOSES “COMMERCIAL CULTIVATION AND SALES OF MARIJUANA”. SHERIFF ALLMAN, ELECTED BY MENDOCINO COUNTY VOTERS WENT ON TO SAY ““Violent crime investigating will remain our top priority. We do not and will not target small grows. We will continue to focus on large grows and complaints about growers who create a public nuisance, endanger public safety or trash the environment”
CRIME WILL INCREASE AS MARIJUANA BECOMES LESS AVAILABLE AND MORE VALUABLE!

WE AT THE MENDOCINO MOUNT GIVE SHERIFF ALLMAN OUR SUPPORT AND ENDORSEMENT. SHERIFF ALLMAN HAS BEEN A FOCAL POINT AND PUT IN A VERY INTERESTING POSITION BEING ELECTED SHERIFF BY A POPULACE WHOSE MAIN REVENUE IN MENDOCINO COUNTY COMES FROM THE MULTI-BILLION DOLLAR UNDERGROUND MARIJUANA MARKET.

ELECTED POLITICIANS WHO HAVE FAILED TO SEE THE IMPORTANCE OF MENDOCINO COUNTIES MARIJUANA INDUSTRY ON THE LOCAL ECONOMY HAVE RARELY BEEN RE-ELECTED. THE SHERIFF ALSO BEING AN ELECTED OFFICIAL, WHO WORKS FOR THE COUNTY OF MENDOCINO AND IS ELECTED BY THE VOTERS OF MENDOCINO COUNTY, MUST FOLLOW THE LAWS ELECTED BY THE VOTERS OF MENDOCINO COUNTY. BEING THAT THE LOCAL POPULACE SUPPORTS DECRIMINALIZATION OF MARIJUANA, AS MEASURE G PROVED, IN GENERAL, IT HAS PUT SHERIFF ALLMAN AS WELL AS PREVIOUS SHERIFF’S IN MENDOCINO COUNTY, IN AN INTERESTING SITUATION.

IN MENDOCINO, THE SHERIFFS BUSTS OF LARGE MARIJUANA GROWS, KEEP THE PRICES HIGH FOR THE SMALLER MEDICAL GROWERS WHO OFTEN SALE THEIR EXCESS PRODUCT TO CANNIBIS CLUBS FOR PATIENTS UNABLE TO GROW IN THE CITIES TO THE SOUTH.

MANY GROWERS IN MENDOCINO COUNTY ACTUALLY SUPPORT MEASURE B, BECAUSE IT WILL AD TO THE PROFITS OF ILLEGAL GROWERS WHO CARELESS IF MEASURE B PASSES OR NOT! SEE IF MEASURE B PASSES, THE PRICES WILL INCREASE FOR MARIJUANA, SINCE THE LAW OF SUPPLY AND DEMAND ALSO AFFECTS THE MARIJUANA TRADE, LESS AVAILABLE MARIJUANA WILL SEE AN INCREASE IN THE PRICE OF MARIJUANA ADDING TO THE CRIME ASSOCIATED WITH MARIJUANA AS THE PRODUCT BECOMES LESS AVAILABLE AND MORE VALUABLE.

“SHERIFF ALLMAN WENT ON TO SAY IN THE ARTICLE,“Although I will not take a position on Measure B, I will say Mendocino County will be a better spot when marijuana is not on the front page every day,” ALTHOUGH WE SUPPORT SHERIFF ALLMAN, WE DON’T THINK THERE WIOLL EVER BE A TIME WHERE MARIJUANA ISN’T ON THE FRONT PAGE IN MENDOCINO COUNTY. PEOPLE LOVE MARIJUANA WAY TOO MUCH HERE!

Well, at least we have that admission, that they are growing and selling "excess product." Want to take that bold next step and say they pay no taxes on the sale? Can you say "money laundering?" Can you say "exploitation of our youth by greedy, unscrupulous ghouls who care only about their own undeserved financial gain."

Duh...that's is because they have a business license and face audit. But what about the **** who sold his drugs to them? You know, that good natured philanthropist you call a "grower." He is a pusher and a problem.

Why not let the Federal Government take care of your problems for you? Guaranteed anonymity and a hefty reward to boot!

"In conjunction its Investigation and Prosecution effort in Mendocino, the IRS is offering rewards to informants on those marijuana cultivators evading taxes in violation of the Money Laundering Control Act of 1986 and section 6050 of the Internal Revenue Code. Anonymous tips can be submitted to the IRS High Intensity Money Laundering and Related Financial Crime (HIFCA)Task Force at www.irs.gov/compliance/enforcement .

How to claim a reward:

IRS Publication 733 details the regulations for claiming a reward. You must complete IRS Form 211. Your information can be delivered personally to any IRS office, or you can write to:

Head of the Criminal Investigation Division
Internal Revenue Service
Washington, DC 20224

If a recovery is made as a direct result of information you provided, you may qualify for a reward of 15% of the amount recovered including taxes, fines and penalties, but not interest -- with a maximum payment of $2 million.

If your information was valuable, although not specific, in determining liability, you may be rewarded with as much as 10% of the amount recovered, again with a $2 million cap.

If your information was the originating cause of the investigation, but had no direct relationship to the determination of tax liability, the reward is 1% of the amount recovered, again with that $2 million limit.

Using an assumed name
If you're not claiming a reward for the information, you can use an assumed name. But if you want to claim a reward, you must use your own name. The IRS is legally prohibited from disclosing the identity of an informer to unauthorized persons.

In 2003, the IRS paid out $4 million to informants who helped the IRS pursue 190 cases, which together recouped more than $61 million in taxes owed. IRS statistics show that the agency has paid an average of 2.74% of recovered taxes as rewards to informants since 1967."

This is a direct result of prohibition. I'm sure that the day that their farms become legal, they will become legitimate taxpayers.

They don't WANT to be criminals.

If you have followed the case of Marc Emery and the BC3 in Canada, you'd know that as soon as they would start taking his tax returns he started sending them (listing 'Marijuana Seed Seller' as his profession).

If the growers here didn't face absolute confiscation of their property, they'd likely contribute their fair share. It's only taxes.

And calling someone who might well be a legal grower under the law in California who sells spare product to a dispensary a 'pusher' would indicate that you have some kind of proof that what is going on at the dispensary is fraud.

People who provide legitimate medicine aren't 'pushers'.

once again, no need to argue with these people. The growers of Mendo are the large majority, let them whine all they want. There's 100's of new strains to try out, no need to waste your time trying to educate them, just grow and enjoy, there is nothing they can do about it.

That's a wonderful sentiment.

Still, it's honed my rhetoric by parleying with them (I'm just one arguer, but the last, so I took it as addressed to me, at least in part).

I've distilled it down to their four basic unsubstantiated lies:

1) pot cards are phoney
2) small growers are actually commercial
3) small growers are diverting water
4) small growers are polluting the environment

I find some similarities between these statements and the larger grow op busts in the paper, but that's all. The last one is merely conjecture, as far as I can tell.

That's small enough to print on a business card. It's all their basic lies.

None of their main proponents have been able to address ANY of them.

Sure, there's plenty of growers here, but it would be nice to have the rest of the people, too.

For those of you who don't study rhetoric, when you make up a bogey man to replace your actual opponent, it's called a 'straw-man' argument.

When you say nasty things about the person who is saying things instead of what they are saying, it's called an ''Ad Hominem' attack.

That's basically what they are using here, but (for variety's sake) let me offer you this compendium:

http://www.nizkor.org/features/fallacies/

You note that they aren't called argument styles there. Rhetoric is the tool of sophists, and it has it's own names for it's 'tools'(kind of like the dark side of the force has it's own revered masters).

The alternate school of thought when rhetoric was being developed was called 'philo-sophy' because they loved (philo) wisdom (sophia). Sophists, on the other hand, translates to something like 'wise-****'.

Of course, I'm a philosopher, and I work with logic, so I call the 'tools' of the dark side by what they are (fallacies).

Still, one should study them so that it's obvious when they are using them.

Duh... Go to any "dispensary" and see the line up of perfectly (physically) healthy tie dye wearing, Al Gore loving Greenpeacers, with their legally sanctioned "medical marijuana" cards. They are truly ill: afflicted with such awful diseases as bad attitude, hangnails, "depression," constipation, etc., etc. etc.

You people really should look at what you are saying. Mendocino alone produces more than 1000 times the need of AIDS and cancer patients. The rest is pure greed and lack of moral fiber.

I think that if you could substantiate this outlandish claim that I would have already heard about it in the news.

In my case, I was here for half a year before I heard someone on KMEC say that it was a valid treatment for arthritis (which I've had for two decades).

It is, too. It's dissolving the rheumatic tissue somehow.

Most of the people who were in the doctors office with me when I got my card looked sick.

The guy who is the doorman at the Santa Rosa club is in a wheelchair. It was pretty obvious that two of the people behind the counter serving people had some kind of wasting disease.

Given that you can't actually get inside most of the places to see what's going on unless you are a member, I'd have to doubt your 'first-hand' account of seeing the 'line-up', anyway.

So the likelihood that you actually talked with any of the people in line to find out what their 'condition' was is remote at best.

But it's terribly refreshing to see that you guys are out of ammo.

Have another bong hit, idiot. You didn't see the "60 Minutes" expose on "medical" marijuana? You are either incredibly stupid or myopic. Are you saying that all this billions of dollars of grass is going to AIDS/cancer patients? There must be hundreds of millions of cases we are unaware of at this point. WAKE UP!!!

Yes, I did see that 60 Minutes segment.

I know the 'reverend' Scott Imler. He's a liar, and has been pretty much outed for years as a snitch and government tool. He's also an egotist who falsely claims to have authored prop 215. He has personally attempted to deceive me.

For those of you who aren't familiar, he's the snitch who turned in Peter McWilliams, Todd McCormick, and Renee Boje some years back.

Peter pretty much proved that before he died (drowning in his own vomit because the 'replacement' drugs didn't quite work right, and he was prohibited from using pot while out on bail).

You can't really blame Scott, though. They have him over a barrel since the only thing that keeps him from going into seizures over and over is the medical marijuana he uses. The feds (reportedly) threatened to leave him rot in a cell through a few and he caved.

You should never take anything that man says at face value. He's bought and paid for.

That segment didn't reference any kind of impropriety going on in Mendocino county, anyway, as I recall.

It would be hard to extrapolate to a projection of the likelihood of something like what happens in Hollywood to what happens in Mendocino county. There are literally hundreds of dispensaries scattered all over metropolitan areas. There are three (?) here.

I'm guessing that the chances of that going on here, with people such as yourself watching, are slim to none.

You have to get some kind of Hollywood scene, where there are more dispensaries than people watching to give the scam artists room to operate.

But then it's really no different than any other kind of medical scam at that point. You jail them and move on.

You don't stop chiropractors just because a few scam Medicare, do you?

he'll just keep it up with his petty insults due to his shame in the person he is. I had an acquaintance who was 20 years old and had terminal brain cancer. He looked like your typical 20 year old and had to deal with ignorant trash like these people when he explained that he was a medical marijuana patient (he would never say what he used it for to them). Always some idiot saying ,"Oh yeah, you look really sick". Most illnesses don't look like anything, but this is another moronic comment always thrown out by the antis. Once again they can't get over that they lost on 215, lost on G and that they live in an area that is progressive and not conservative with it's head up it's rear. This will be the largest grow year in history (until next year). Enjoy the season, it's going to be another great one. And remember, kinder is a guy who makes a living suing charities and anybody else he can find, his type don't last long.

legalize it, tax it, and get on with it and people stop confusing a gift from spirit with man made poisons that can cause you grievous harm

OK, people, here is proof from the wretch's own mouth (keyboard) that he is a liar. He is a professional marijuana lobbyist; knows all kinds of details about the personal lives of the people on both sides of the issue; and (here is the lie)he claims to live in Ukiah but does not know that we have only two dispensaries in Mendocino County?
