I certainly hope there isn't a bill to allow people to use MJ at work. They can't think under the influence, or if they do it's so slow they can't perform. Maybe if so, reduce the minimum wage down to 2.00 an hour.
Lady, you speak truthiness

I work with people who are highly intelligent, in the afternoon they go somewhere and get high, the rest of the day is a waste, the engineer can't concentrate on anything for more than 30 seconds, he will pour a cup of coffee and walk away from it, I remind him and he comes back to get it, gets distracted and forgets it again! Keep in mind, this is a highly educated person who goes from productive to useless in 15 min. I would find a reason, ANY reason to get rid of an employee like him if it were my company!

Do you know anybody who has a serious injury that requires medication to be a part of the tax paying workforce?

I see no difference between a perscription vicotin and marijuana....lots of folks are prescribed pain medications to continue functioning as members of society. I find it interesting how the ignorant just point and say "Marijuana has no medical value!" when they're popping a vicotin, percocet, darvacet etc.....think about it.

If you want to fight DRUGS.....fight METH!

Yes I do know people that take meds to stay in the work force. The ones prescribed by the doctors enable the worker to clear mind do their work. MJ will NOT allow a worker to do work with a clear mind. Let's be real here.

Impossible for them to do that, Lady. Impossible. If the facts don't fit into their picture, they simply change the facts. We have all seen in over and over. If they cannot change the facts, they change the subject. They divert the discussion. Then, if that doesn't work, they threaten.

ne can really get angry about the misleading title of this article! mad.gif This bill is not at all about using cannabis at work, its about being fired at work because one uses medical cannabis at home.

This bill is a great idea, and I hope it passes unanimously. Sick people need jobs as much as anyone, and the medicine you use away from the job site should not interfere with your career or employment in any way. Drug testing of even recreational users is bad enough. They too seldom use drugs on the job site, and get seriously economically punished because some stupid drug test cannot determine that one toked a doobie 10 days ago instead of 10 minutes ago. Such a bill will cut down on these silly errors, and keep people working, and jobs safe.

Ok, just when I think that our state is becoming sane, they prove me wrong. Other than the fact that this is drugs. No insurance company will insure a business that allows their employee’s to do dope. And in a time when it seems like health care is BIG issue, this happens. Let’s see how this will effect families that lost their insurance because someone wants to get hit. Selfish people. Sigh.

Simple. DOPERS cause injuries. Injuries cost money. Money from employers. Money in the form of increased work comp claims... and other lawsuits. Yes. Money. Employers have a right to know WHO is working for them, and WHAT drugs they are taking. Don't like it? Don't work for anybody. Oh, wait... that's right. You probably don't work for anybody. Right?

Shame on this newspaper for its misleading headline. The bill DOES NOT allow people to use marijuana at work. It simply does not allow for them to be fired because they use it as medicine at home on their own time, as allowed for under California state law.

As for Mongo Lloyd, his comments are worse than useless and too asinine to waste time on.

I Am Lady, you are sadly mistaken if you think people are more impaired by medical marijuana than by prescription opiates. But in either case, the real test should be impairment on the job, not the contents of your bodily fluids.

Blah blah blah.
Pot is medicine
Blah blah blah

Fool.
You lost interest of all non-dopers in your opening 2 sentences. They should be FIRED. That's right, FIRED. Employers PAY MONEY for both wages, as well as insurance claims. They have a right to have competent, non-dopers working for them.

Kudos to Marc Leno for introducing this bill! Congratulations to Americans for Safe Access and especially to Ca Campaign Director, Don Duncan, who spearheaded the effort on this campaign. Don gathered the broad base of political support that was required to pass AB2279.

A broad spectrum of medical cannabis patients and advocates nationwide supported this grassroots effort.

Way to go ASA!

Mongo Lloyd, your moniker is certainly appropriate since you come off like a vicious retard.

So sorry you can't accept California law. It must be tough being a sore loser.

What about people taking other medicines? Should they be fired?

Employers shouldn't have to put up with impaired workers, I agree. Test for impairment, not the contents of bodily fluids. Do you have any response to this other than your usual hate-filled ****?

I must disagree with you. I have worked with people stoned and with people on presc. opiates. Possibly the presc. meds are prescribed at a level that are more controlled. MJ doesn't have any control. I experienced frustration with co-workers on MJ because they lose focus. They were ultimately fired.

Right again Mr. Redhat. It does get tiresome with the same arguments to justify the commercial growing. Deliberate divirsion of the real issue
