Winning B will put enforcement and prosecution of criminal laws on the same level as the surrounding counties, until you win your fight for legalization. What's wrong with that?If my "rhetoric" is old, it is because the truth endures. We have "waited" for 30 years since President Carter said marijuana should be decriminalized. We will push forward, not backward, in every venue we can.
Winning B will not give you the "protection" you want. History has shown that cracking down harder only makes things worse. Only ending the fraud of marijuana prohibition will do it. Wake up.

DA doesn't just endorse Measure B...DA has some conviction too!!!!!!!!!!
Marijuana defendant convicted of a felony Ukiah Daily Journal Staff Article Last Updated: 05/22/2008 08:17:41 AM PDT A Mendocino County jury deliberated eight hours before finding Russell Rexrode, 41, of Fort Bragg, guilty of felony marijuana cultivation Wednesday.... "This was an extremely important case for our office," said District Attorney Meredith Lintott. "Commercial marijuana growers who hide behind the medical marijuana laws are now advised they can be convicted of a felony, even in Mendocino County." And you people said it didn't matter.... We are done with you and your little illegal dope experiment----Criminals, dope growers, you F up everything you touch - you have no one to thank but yourselves. |

Carter was unable to achieve much because of the resistance of the good-old-boys. He was the most honorable president in my lifetime. He tied our foreign policy to how each country treated their citizens. We probably won't see a principled stand like that for a long time. RC >>>"Winning B will put enforcement and prosecution of criminal laws on the same level as the surrounding counties, until you win your fight for legalization. What's wrong with that?" Lots. The Dutch have more sane laws about marijuana than all their surrounding countries, but it doesn't worry them. They're proud of the practical justice they have achieved. What's wrong with YOU and your like-minded friends supporting ending marijuana prohibition? That's the only real solution. All this crying about messes in the woods seems like cover for exercising prejudice against marijuana consumers. Hey Over There >>>"We are done with you and your little illegal dope experiment----Criminals, dope growers, you F up everything you touch - you have no one to thank but yourselves." The illegal dope experiment is marijuana prohibition. Marijuana has been freely grown, sold and used for thousands of years. Then, the great con man, Harry Anslinger, comes along with the great fraud of 1937. http://www.druglibrary.org/Schaffer/History/w... Prohibition is what Fs everything up of course. That, and the bigots who support it. stop dope You know you don't have a moral leg to stand on. Until you make alcohol illegal, you stand for injustice when you support jailing people for a plant that is non-addictive and far less harmful than alcohol. |

I have no desire to stand in the way of your quest for legalization, quite desperately trying to justify your position through a misrepresentation of mine, I just that ask that my family not be placed in peril in the process. You’re lack of compassion for the security of the residents of Mendocino as you spout rhetoric from the sanctity afforded to you outside of the county shows your true colors. You still have not provided any insight as to how providing equal protection to the residents of Mendocino enjoyed by their neighbors is wrong. The only negative you intimate is that it hinders your quest, sorry, again that is not persuasive to those of us who live and have families there. |

How have I misrepresented your position? My point is simply that when we end the madness of marijuana prohibition, so many problems it causes, like illegal grows in the woods, will become history. And as you worry about the "security of residents," you might give a little thought to the violated security of 800,000 innocent Americans who are arrested for marijuana every year - most for simple possession. Their security is permanently compromised with the bogus "criminal" record attached to them. This marginalizes them from society and makes them highly vulnerable to abuse from law enforcement. I say the "protection" any county in this country has is a part of the problem. It's not protection. It's part of the persecution of marijuana consumers. If you really want protection, pass laws against things that are harmful. Not against marijuana farming. Marijuana has been consumed by humans for thousands of years, and it will likely be so for many thousands of years to come. The bigots who have enjoyed the American Inquisition need to get ready to find someone else to hate. This witch hunt has run its course. |

\ and if he had a legitimate card, he may be able to appeal after this decision that states counties, cities, or legislatures cannot alter or modify a state wide voter approved initiative. THE STATE MINIMUMS SET FORTH IN SB 420 ARE UNCONSTITUTIONAL!! http://www.courtinfo.ca.gov/opinions/document... |
You misrepresent my position by saying I am for the prohibition. I am not, and at a minimum it’s quite presumptuous for you to think you can state my position for me. I am for a responsible, thoughtful approach to legalization and I just don’t see it happening as soon as you think. Remember, 1/3 of the nation thinks Bush is a hero and many more than that are appalled that gay marriages are legal now in two states. Believe it or not, not everyone shares your beliefs. It was a mistake to believe that the prohibition could safely be lifted a county at a time. After eight years, Mendocino County is on an island with less protection for its citizens. I don’t know how else to state this, but it was irresponsible to pursue legalization at less than the state level. If you care about gaining support for your movement, the responsible thing to do would be to support the return of protection of the laws to Mendocino County on the same level as Humboldt, Lake, Sonoma, etcs., and then pursue your movement at the State and Federal level. Once you get the prohibition lifted at that level, I’ll be right there to cheer you. |

Are you serious?? Posting a defense attorney’s Habeas brief and touting it as law? See, that’s the exact kind of misrepresentation that completely discredits you “No” folks. |

click this, and search B195624 People v. kelly. it is second case on list. and it is NOT from a defense attorney, it is the written published opinion of the appellate court. |
Wow, now that I read the whole thing, not sure how to take this. You realize that this means we are likely headed back to the CUA days? Without limits means two things: 1) It will be taken advantage of, as always and 2) Everyone will be arrested, even for 1 plant, and made to prove that they possessed for reasonable medical needs. Don’t forget, even NORML supported the MMP. I wouldn’t be jumping for joy just yet... While it appears to be decided on solid grounds, it’s the unfortunate result of political incompetence...go figure. |

First of all the alleged info you present is over 5 years old. Second of all, this info shows that all consumption across all ages has gone down in the same period of time that production and sales have tripled. Thirdly, It's drug dealers, not prohibition that puts drugs in the hands of kids. When will the drug dealers take responsibility for anything they do? |

Marina, CA Reply » |Report Abuse |#195 14 hrs ago watcher >>>"Far more then half of the billions the pot growers make annually comes from the pockets of kids under 18 all across the nation." That's absurd. This government table shows the truth: http://www.oas.samhsa.gov/NSDUH/2k4nsduh/2k4t ... Less than 10 percent of use is by people under 18 years old. This is typical. Prohibitionists only have a case by lying. Tsk. It is prohibition that puts marijuana - and all drugs - into the hands of children. Just like it did with alcohol prohibition. End the madness! __________ Wrong First of all the alleged info you present is over 5 years old. IMHO, the most effective way I might personally add to this would be to find a way to keep YOU off the internet. It's probably two of YOUR kids who came up last year at the GMM and screamed obscenities at me (kinda cute, Jenna Bush lookin' girl with a dark haired friend). Pity she had such a mouth on her. Monica Lewinski's mouth was cleaner after a date with Bill. |

That's great you are for a responsible, thoughtful approach to legalization. Is that like the approach we've had for the last 30 years? If not, what would you do different? >>>"1/3 of the nation thinks Bush is a hero and many more than that are appalled that gay marriages are legal now in two states. Yes. There has been a tremendous dumbing down of America. As Gore Vidal said, "When Americans can't recognize stupid people [the Bush Administration] we're done." >>>"It was a mistake to believe that the prohibition could safely be lifted a county at a time. After eight years, Mendocino County is on an island with less protection for its citizens." Here's an idea. Instead of trying to turn the clock back on progress, go a baby step further and let people grow as much as they want on their own land. How would you be "unprotected" in that scenario? Seems like a win for everyone - except the black market folks and the corporate/government junta that has amassed mountains of illegitimate money and power from the persecution. >>>"pursue your movement at the State and Federal level. Once you get the prohibition lifted at that level, I’ll be right there to cheer you." That's big of you. But no, up from the grass roots is the only avenue we've got. The power/money at the state level is well fortified to prevent change. Watcher >>>"the alleged info you present is over 5 years old." So? Do you things have significantly changed? If so, it's your turn to bring some evidence. And how is 2004 more than five years old? >>>"this info shows that all consumption across all ages has gone down in the same period of time that production and sales have tripled." I didn't see any figures there on production. Even if it did, there could be lots of explanations for that. Stockpiling, out-of-country sales, seizures and eradications, etc. >>>"It's drug dealers, not prohibition that puts drugs in the hands of kids." No. Alcohol venders do not put booze in the hands of kids. They don't want to lose their license - or their freedom. But they did sell to kids during alcohol prohibition. A huge childhood epidemic of alcoholism was one of the reasons they ended that experiment. It's the same now. In the Netherlands, where consumption is legal, they have half the use as the U.S. >>>"When will the drug dealers take responsibility for anything they do?" When they are not forced to operate in an illegal environment, of course. >>>"END THE POISONING OF KIDS! Right! End the black market that doesn't care how old their customers are. |

But he still must prove that the amount possessed was for his "personal medical use." So the scam continues. Vote Yes on B to Repeal bogus Measure G. |
