Thanks, Tax Day Incentive! I called and reported four major growers in Covelo, and got an instant $30,000.00 pre-payment, with lots more on the way! This is better money than actually growing! In conjunction its Investigation and Prosecution effort in Mendocino, the IRS is offering rewards to informants on those marijuana cultivators evading taxes in violation of the Money Laundering Control Act of 1986 and section 6050 of the Internal Revenue Code. Anonymous tips can be submitted to the IRS High Intensity Money Laundering and Related Financial Crime (HIFCA)Task Force at www.irs.gov/compliance/enforcement .
How to claim a reward:
IRS Publication 733 details the regulations for claiming a reward. You must complete IRS Form 211. Your information can be delivered personally to any IRS office, or you can write to:
Head of the Criminal Investigation Division
Internal Revenue Service
Washington, DC 20224
If a recovery is made as a direct result of information you provided, you may qualify for a reward of 15% of the amount recovered including taxes, fines and penalties, but not interest -- with a maximum payment of $2 million.
If your information was valuable, although not specific, in determining liability, you may be rewarded with as much as 10% of the amount recovered, again with a $2 million cap.
If your information was the originating cause of the investigation, but had no direct relationship to the determination of tax liability, the reward is 1% of the amount recovered, again with that $2 million limit.
Using an assumed name
If you're not claiming a reward for the information, you can use an assumed name. But if you want to claim a reward, you must use your own name. The IRS is legally prohibited from disclosing the identity of an informer to unauthorized persons.
In 2003, the IRS paid out $4 million to informants who helped the IRS pursue 190 cases, which together recouped more than $61 million in taxes owed. IRS statistics show that the agency has paid an average of 2.74% of recovered taxes as rewards to informants since 1967.

You're such a moron you forgot to change your screen name this time, Tax Day Incentive.
What kind of loser posts and responds to their own post under a different screen name?! Get a life/job! |

Covelo is just like the Land that time forgot... If you got rid of the Drugs, it would just be the Cowboys and Indians and everyone getting drunk and shooting the town up...(and an occasional knife fight) Its actually a very pretty place. And the Wild Times adds to the Charm... Its just too bad that some of the Bad Cops have turned the place into a "Court TV Episode" Just a Bunch of Big Fish in a Little Pond.........

Brilliant. Now everybody will see how wise you are. And also how honest. Hilarious. |

Really? From San Diego, you reported 4 people in COVELO? Covelo, which is 10 hours north of San Diego, and you know about these? And the irs/gov't PREPAID you for information provided without any investigation yet? Hmmm... something doesn't sound right with your story. Guess I will wait to read about it. |
Good grief, now you're using your "I'm traveling" argument on someone else? A tiny bit of you goes a long way.... |

While I do not agree with informing to authorities in general, I think the time has come to clean up the "medical marijuana" scammers in California. Based upon the recent uptick in raids, it is clear that the Feds are targeting Mendocino this year, as they really should. I heard the Feds are looking hard at Covelo this year, especially the Mina Road area and old Bauer Ranch, as well as Willits. Ukiah obviously is also in the cross hairs, as is evidenced by the recent busts.
In So Cal, they offered cash rewards for tips last year. It resulted in a huge take from forfeited property. Agents are now flooding Mendocino, the informants were in place last year. About time you guys get smart and start cashing in. |

Feds: Teen use of pot can lead to dependency, mental illness By JENNIFER C. KERR, Associated Press Writer
Fri May 9, 7:00 AM ET WASHINGTON - Depression, teens and marijuana are a dangerous mix that can lead to dependency, mental illness or suicidal thoughts, according to a White House report being released Friday. A teen who has been depressed at some point in the past year is more than twice as likely to have used marijuana as teens who have not reported being depressed — 25 percent compared with 12 percent, said the report by the White House Office of National Drug Control Policy. "Marijuana is a more consequential substance of abuse than our culture has treated it in the last 20 years," said John Walters, director of the office. "This is not just youthful experimentation that they'll get over as we used to think in the past." Smoking marijuana can lead to more serious problems, Walters said in an interview. For example, using marijuana increases the risk of developing mental disorders by 40 percent, the report said. And teens who smoke pot at least once a month over a yearlong period are three times more likely to have suicidal thoughts than nonusers, it said. The report also cited research that showed that teens who smoke marijuana when feeling depressed were more than twice as likely as their peers to abuse or become addicted to pot — 8 percent compared with 3 percent. Experts who have worked with children say there's nothing harmless about marijuana. "I've seen many, many kids' lives negatively impacted and taken off track because of marijuana," said Elizabeth Stanley-Salazar, director of adolescent services for Phoenix House treatment centers in California. "It's somewhat Russian roulette. There are so many factors, emotional, psychological, biological. You can't predict the experimentation and how it will impact a kid." The drug control policy office analyzed about a dozen studies looking at marijuana use, including research by the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration. Walters appealed to parents to recognize signs of possible drug use and depression. "It's not something you look the other way about when your teen starts appearing careless about their grooming, withdrawing from the family, losing interest in daily activities," Walters said. "Find out what's wrong." |

Well, the Sheriff now supports Measure B. Remember the tune folks, "I'm breakin rocks, in the - HOT SUN - I fought the law, and the LAW WON... More than six plants and you go to the hoosegow to meet Bubba, your new "special" friend. For you stoners, that's all your fingers on one hand, plus one more. And they better not be big plants, either.

Huh? what are you asking me? All I was stating is that Mr. Kinder loves to threaten these alleged criminals with prison gang rape. Either he supports it, or is used to it. Its one or the other. |
|
Supports prison gang rape? What the heck are you talking about? I am just pointing out the deep, deep, deep friendships and bonding you can expect in jail, Reality Checker. And I never have and will never advocate or write about prison rape or anal sex, unless you are the recipient. Best to stay on the straight and narrow. Say it with me, Reality Checker, "Yes on B."
While we are talking, you "No on B's," tell me again how many AIDS patients and cancer sufferers there are in this country? I guess they each have $50,000,000 to spend on grass, because there is several billion dollars worth being grown. Guess that can't be the answer. Oh, do you mean 99.999% is being diverted to the black market? You mean there is huge scale money laundering going on? I am SHOCKED, SHOCKED I tell you. Hey "No on B's," get an education and stay off the bong; sort of like what Dean Wormer said in Animal House "fat, stoned and stupid is a terrible way to go through life." |

How entertaining that John Q Pubic says to laugh when I am in federal prison? For what? I ain't a grower or user of any illegal drugs. I am retired and have to resort to getting high by riding my Harley to support motorcycle fund raising events and runs for Diabetes, treatment programs, breast cancer research, food banks, homeless and yes even cops like The Dave Tiller support Run and I manage all without being impaired.
And Russel Hotts you have no idea what you are talking about. Most business owners here are good law abiding people who don't or never have ever grown pot to my knowledge since I have been here and I have been here since 1979.And the planted DEA agents have a unique odor that permeates them. Or maybe it is the wing tips they wear when wearing logger clothes in the bar. And I am wondering where the big bite is from the feds that were to take down the big growers like ravenous pit pulls. They got a few small timers and missed the big time grows up here in Covelo. Most of my unemployed grower neighbors all have new grow season toys and they never got busted? |
