Probably a drug burn. Lots of pot sold there at night around the gas station and Wagon Wheel Motel.

Visit beautiful Covelo....remember to bring a knife. Rent a room at the roach motel, drink until late at the Buckhorn Bar, and end up at the Emergency Ward. When is the DEA going to clean that place up? It is all a bunch of growers masquerading as "business owners." Hell, the place totally shuts down during "trimming season."

Couldn't agree more, Covelo is an armpit. Check out all the new "business owners" who are growing like a m-fer. Heard the bar, motel and restaurant all recently sold. Wonder who could make a profit out of those joints? Maybe a sideline income involved? Where is the IRS and DEA when you need them?

Dondi: no need for me to clean up Covelo. The Federal authorities are going to do it for us this year. See the DEA's own website at www.dea.gov ./concern/18862/marijuana.htm. Covelo/Willits is ground zero for the investigation.
Marijuana growers in Mendocino are being specifically targeted this year for a high intensity investigation and prosecution effort. It will coordinate the DEA, IRS, CAMP and the Franchise Tax Board, per the IRS' website. They already allocated funds for six more choppers, over 100 additional CAMP raiders, and scores of IRS agents looking at the "businesses" being used as fronts by growers for money laundering.
You can assist by submitting a tip to the DEA at www.usdoj.gov/dea/submit_tip_form.htm . You can also call DEA Special Agent in charge Javier F. Pena in San Francisco. Tips to CAMP can be submitted at www.ag.ca.gov/bne/camp.php , or by calling Sacramento. Tips to the IRS regarding violations of the Money Laudering Control Act of 1986 and section 6050 of the Internal Revenue Code can be submitted to the IRS High Intensity Money Laundering and Related Financial Crimw (HIFCA)Task Force at www.irs.gov/compliance/enforcement .
Please help clean up your community, and report growers of any quantity of marijuana for investigation and prosecution.

MANY GROWERS IN MENDOCINO COUNTY ACTUALLY SUPPORT MEASURE B, BECAUSE IT WILL AD TO THE PROFITS OF ILLEGAL GROWERS WHO CARELESS IF MEASURE B PASSES OR NOT! SEE IF MEASURE B PASSES, THE PRICES WILL INCREASE FOR MARIJUANA, SINCE THE LAW OF SUPPLY AND DEMAND ALSO AFFECTS THE MARIJUANA TRADE, LESS AVAILABLE MARIJUANA WILL SEE AN INCREASE IN THE PRICE OF MARIJUANA ADDING TO THE CRIME ASSOCIATED WITH MARIJUANA AS THE PRODUCT BECOMES LESS AVAILABLE AND MORE VALUABLE.
VOTE NO, MEASURE B THE COMMERCIAL MARIJUANA SCAM! THAT WILL INCREASE PROFITS FOR CRIMINALS!
vote no on MEASURE B!

Laugh when you are in the Federal prison system, if you are part of the problem. This year is going to get verrry interesting. Anyone else notice the number of busts skyrocketing? Could it be that the informants planted last year are finally being used?

Or you can turn yourself in and they might go light on you. Contact the DEA at www.usdoj.gov/dea/submit_tip_form.htm . You can also call DEA Special Agent in charge Javier F. Pena in San Francisco. And to the extent you think the information is inaccurate, please look at the links cited, then check the Federal and State funding for DEA, IRS Criminal and CAMP in Mendocino. It nearly tripled for calendar year 2008. Facts easily verified online by looking at the passed budgets.

john q., hmm, some schmuch in san diego. That place is a joke and thank God we don't have idiots like the ones running that dump. Nobody cares about your big scary stories of feds. Every year it's the same story, every year the growers do what they want. That Q. public guy is a joke, nobody cares about his big bad DEA. Once these pathetic, useless Republicans are finally out of office, things will change at the federal level so they might as well steal as much land and property as they can again this year before it ends.

Go ahead, grow all you want. The price will be less than $1,000 a pound by the end of the year, and you are looking at major Federal time. Best of luck, schmuck! See how tough you are with your pants around your ankles in Leavenworth! Hope Bubba your cellmate is merciful.

I heard a rumor that sheriff Allman is going on vacation at the end of September through Christmas. Long enough to be gone for the harvest raids, and not take any responsibility for it.

You argument is lacking logic. If the feds "clean up mendocino" and bust all these grows, that would make the supply LOWER. The LOWER the supply, the HIGHER the price. When a product, any product, is not easy to find, the value increases. When there is a surplus of a product, any product, the cost goes down. It's the basis behind buying in bulk.

So, if the feds raid like hell this year, and there's a "shortage" of pot, how will the price DROP to less than $1000 a pound? The only way pot would be less than 1000 a pound is if the federal government makes it legal and regulates it.

Great reasoning. The prices will go back to 4000 a pound if b even gets on the ballot (which it probably won't). Prices will still be at 2-3000 if not. And more great comments from the anti's. So smoking and growing a flower is bad but allowing rape is perfectly ok. You say a lot about the type of person you are with that comment.
You are a sick, sad little person. Oh, and I'm looking forward to all your scary choppers and feds. What a joke.

John Q and friends are SO unclear on the concept.

I, for one, applaud any grower who has used their compensation from other medicinal users who cannot grow their own medicine (i.e.the terminally ill, handicapped, and those restricted by urban ordinances,) to capitalize small businesses in Mendocino County.

HOORAY for them for utilizing their gain in the service of their neighbors - by providing goods, services, and yes, jobs for our communities. This should be the goal and perhaps requirement of ALL our local growers.

These folks are head and shoulders above the few (but high profile) creeps who trade green for white powder, then beat their wives and children and demand law enforcement resolve their violent conflicts over speed.

The speed freaks were here long before Measure G or Prop 215, and unfortunately, will be here even if Measure B passes. You can thank Hitler and the CIA for that. It is a drug of subjugation that is "introduced" into communities in order to control them. Let's get back to PlanA - and put this much effort and rhetoric into fighting AMPHETAMINES that render its users unable to do anything other than lie, cheat and steal for their next fix. Ask any law enforcement officer which drug is to blame for the rapes, child molestation, incest, and violence in the home. It's not pot!

P.S. Enuf with the selling Mendopot to schoolchildren myth. They cannot afford it -- whereas a bottle of peppermint schnopps is cheap and easily available, as are $15 bindles of speed. Ask a teacher - they'll tell you the truth!

In conjunction its Investigation and Prosecution effort in Mendocino, the IRS is offering rewards to informants on those marijuana cultivators evading taxes in violation of the Money Laundering Control Act of 1986 and section 6050 of the Internal Revenue Code. Anonymous tips can be submitted to the IRS High Intensity Money Laundering and Related Financial Crime (HIFCA)Task Force at www.irs.gov/compliance/enforcement .

How to claim a reward:

IRS Publication 733 details the regulations for claiming a reward. You must complete IRS Form 211. Your information can be delivered personally to any IRS office, or you can write to:

Head of the Criminal Investigation Division
Internal Revenue Service
Washington, DC 20224

If a recovery is made as a direct result of information you provided, you may qualify for a reward of 15% of the amount recovered including taxes, fines and penalties, but not interest -- with a maximum payment of $2 million.

If your information was valuable, although not specific, in determining liability, you may be rewarded with as much as 10% of the amount recovered, again with a $2 million cap.

If your information was the originating cause of the investigation, but had no direct relationship to the determination of tax liability, the reward is 1% of the amount recovered, again with that $2 million limit.

Using an assumed name
If you're not claiming a reward for the information, you can use an assumed name. But if you want to claim a reward, you must use your own name. The IRS is legally prohibited from disclosing the identity of an informer to unauthorized persons.

In 2003, the IRS paid out $4 million to informants who helped the IRS pursue 190 cases, which together recouped more than $61 million in taxes owed. IRS statistics show that the agency has paid an average of 2.74% of recovered taxes as rewards to informants since 1967.
