The vast majority, that’s what - over 65%.
And to top it off, they changed the name of the Food Stamp program - to “Secure Supplemental Nutrition Assistance.”

1 Losing more faith in this Farm Bill, I am. If I ran that program,$290,000,000 would do more than they propose to do with the monies. I do agree with the subsidies for the farmers though. If we lose our back bone in this fight, we lose our farmers& higher food prices will be a norm. Over seas veggies? Meats....please. I am getting back to the grass roots solution. Have a 4 season garden Depend on self more than the goverment. Get these folks OFF welfare, that need to GO. Make more home visits to get updates Check their bank accounts -!! This cycle of a free ride needs to stop sometime, why not start NOW...???? What ever happened to Manpower who could find these folks work? Our system is broken and it will take a long time to fix it,if that be possible. |

1 http://epaper.investors.com/daily/skins/ibd/n... 04/26/2008 Most politicians have been swept up by the notion the U.S. could supply a good portion of its energy needs from Midwest farms, instead of from unfriendly regimes in the Middle East and elsewhere. In December, Congress overwhelmingly passed, and President Bush signed, a new energy bill dramatically raising renewable fuel mandates. But that consensus will be open to debate in the presidential election with John McCain as the GOP standard bearer. Hes one of the few politicians who oppose handouts to the ethanol industry. (about the only good thing I can say ahout McCain) |

How about this article right here, for starts. How about every year farmers lobby for handouts. You disagree? What, that's it? You disagree, no explanation? |
