What the anti-gun crowd are missing is the fact that these mass killings always happen in 'gun-free' zones like college campuses and schools. Ever hear of a mass shooting at a gun range or army base or ??? It is reported that in Israel school shootings never happen because many faculty are armed. This concept freaks out liberals who have an irrational fear and hatred of guns. Law-abiding trained citizens who are licensed to carry are NOT to be feared and are sometimes the only only ones present who can stop a threat as it happens. The police ALWAYS arrive after the mass shootings are OVER. Think about it!

If your goal is to keep the US at the top of the gun death numbers, then this is a great plan. We've got such a great head start, let's keep it that way!

The fact is we have the loosest gun laws in the western world, and the highest number of deaths. Coincidence?
Sorry "Wake Up", but NO state with concealed carry has seen an increase in deaths of abuse of the law. In most cases violent crime has decreased because the violent criminal knows the victim may have the means to defend themselves. Bettrer stay in your coma.

Have you ever heard of inner city gangs? That is where those statistics come from, not kids going to college. Use a little common sense for gods sake.
Yeah, you are so right these are college kids, they don't use guns just ask Virginia Tech

This is funny and stupid at the same time. I just wish the 4th Amendment was held in such high regard as the first two.

I find it amusing that so many posters have said that had more students been armed in campus shooting tragedies there would be fewer casualties. Me? I'd shoot the guy shooting the students. Now, is he the bad guy or the good guy with the concealed weapon? Hell blast away and sort it out later!

When the police do arrive on the scene, who does one shoot in these campus shootouts? Me, I'd shoot the guys with the guns. All of them. Sort it out later.

People who go on shooting rampages would never be deterred by scores of people totin' guns on campus. In most cases these people are seeking suicide-by-police officer anyway and assume they're going to die. Adding more guns to already volitile environment will encourage an escalation to bigger and more horrific outcomes-- bioterrorism, dirty bombs, truck bombs, etc.

Groucho Marx said, "I would never join a club that would have me as a member". I wouldn't trust myself with a concealed weapon-- much less YOU. I agree with "St. Paul"-- if you want to live comfortably in a gun culture, join the military. College is a place where one learns to use their HEAD to resolve conflict.

I think this could go either way. What if a student allowed to carry a weapon were to engage someone shooting at others, and in the process shot an innnocent person?

The other scenario is what about when the police arrive. Anytime someone has a gun, they risk being shot by the police. The police do not always know which person is the bad guy.

So, now we're going to let Lee tell us where to live. Not. The 2nd amendment, as you will soon find out, tells us we're good to go right here. This isn't Europe after all. And, Carrie, I like Barak Obama's solution to this problem. We've had these gun-free zones long enough. It's time for change. Yes, we can!

About time these kids stand up for their rights !! Did any of you libs see the news flash this weekend ? Chicago, one of the MOST restrictive anti-gun cities in America other than New York & Washington DC & they had 36 gun deaths !! ALL BY CRIMINALS !! MAYBE - if law abiding citizens were allowed to defend themselves - the crooks wouldn't be so brazen !! There has not been an illegal murder/shooting by a LICENSED gun carrying citizen yet. Where are the wild & crazy shoot outs predicted by the anti-gun/anti-freedom libs ???? Crime rates have DROPPED (check the FBI & other law enforcement agencies stats) where concealed carry is allowed. Thank God - maybe there IS hope for our college students after all !!

If true, why don't they conduct their rampages at police stations?

Yes I have been to keggers there, at houses off-campus, where there is no ban to conceal and carry (keggers are also not allowed on campus), and I have never seen anyone brandishing a handgun. Lots of fist fights though . . . perhaps we should ban hands, which can easily be modified into fists.

It's likely that many of these protesters have no interest in carrying guns on campus, they are trying to raise awareness of the slippery slope we're sliding down in regards to our freedom and I applaud that!

I work in a large hospital that also bans guns and is frequented by police officers throughout the day. This means that all of the police officers need to go through extra steps to enter and leave our facility.

Having a sign banning guns doesn't protect us from the "criminals" - it just makes extra work for the "good guys"

These students are raising awareness for our RIGHT to bear arms - this doesn't mean they will all be packin' heat at the next kegger. And somehow I doubt that "kegger crowd" is helping with that protest today.
