Brett Favre should be allowed to set his own Vikings training s...

Full story: TwinCities.com

If Mr. Brett Favre is reluctant to put himself through another grueling training camp, he should immediately be provided with a lawn chair, a pitcher of cold lemonade and several Wilfs armed with palm branches to stir up a nice cool breeze for him in Mankato.

A bit overboard, but it certainly supports that fact that the team cannot/will not progress with Jackson behind center. With Sage possibly but no better than Gus. With T-Jax all I see is an empty helmet.

How is a so called "leader of the/a team" going to help his new team by not practicing with his players to get into rhythm? If he isn't willing to come to training camp on time, he certainly wont be playing any preseason games either. So, Tom in your infinite wisdom, you are suggesting Favre does need to practice with his receivers before the season starts? I would be a lot more understanding if he was still with GB but new player on a new team? He needs to get there ON TIME. It’s not the Minnesota Bret Favres! It’s the Minnesota VIKINGS!

i agree that a leader needs to lead by example, but i (for once) kinda agree with powers on this one. favre knows how to play football, he knows this system and really would do better to be assured health towards the end of the season. i think we can get to the playoffs without favre, but don't think we can make a deep run (even to the super bowl) without him healthy. it is a tight line to walk, but in all honesty, i don't care if favre only plays the second half of the season as long as he is ready for the playoffs.

I could not disagree more with this article. I understand where Powers is coming from, I just do not agree. A number of Vikings players have already said they prefer Jackson or Rosenfels for the job. Bringing in Favre and then allowing him to sit back and relax, while everyone else works his butt off, will only cause resentment. If this was his second or third year with the Vikes they could get away with it, but letting the already controversial new guy take it easy will kill team chemistry.

I'm sure Powers was being facetious and was actually criticizing Favre in advance. Needlessly, in my opinion. Brett will work hard. He's most likely going to sign for one year. It's SB or bust, baby.

I did see a red porsche downtown yesterday with FARVE1 plates. He might already be here. God I hope not, but he might already be here.

Sort of simular to the mass hysteria for GB fans, and their press, that allowed a jealous turd like Thompson to get rid of a future HOF QB, and convince everybody that 6-10 is just super.

Hold it, Kimball!

Even when playing with the HS kiddies, BF needs to establish timing with receivers, backs, and the center. And the NFL is MUCH faster. PLUS, he needs to mix with the guys, and get alittle dirty, or they'll think he's a pansy. SOME things he can be alittle looser with, but not much. I agree with Dan on this, mostly. Sounds like with Madden retired, Powers wants to be the new BBB.(Brett's Bun Buddy)

I saw the likeness of Favre in a cloud formation yesterday, and he was wearing purple.

We could have God Incarnate as quarterback, but it wouldn't matter. This team will never win a playoff game with Childress as head coach.

Favre in purple will be fun to watch, but please let's not forget how over-matched Childress is as a head coach in this league. Last year's 10-6 was a fluke (remember how the refs gave them the first Detroit game?), and we will be lucky to go 9-7 again this year.

Maybe it would help if they provided "Milfs" instead!
