Amen to a retractable. I've said it over-and-over-and-over again. STUPID MOVE! A new generation, so people don't remember outdoor baseball at Metropolitan Stadium in April, May and September--let alone October if their were ever to be another World Series. We definitely don't need a roof for our beautiful and wonderful summer nights, but people will find out about those other nights soon enough I guess....

to Mr. Herzog.
No retractable roof is not called Minnesota nice its called Minnesota STUPID.

All the Pohlads cared about is the value of the team going up with a new stadium.

After they got whatthey wanted they got rid of 4 popular players and the GM resigned.

I though baseball was designated by the government as a sport not a business. The Pohlads should be fined for this violation.

ever been to a retractable roof stadium? ugly as all heck... also, because of the cost of opening and closing the roof, they often leave it closed on decent days (just ask people in Milwaukee). plenty of cold weather cities have open air stadiums and it is fine. chicago, cleveland, boston, new york, etc. i lived in wrigleyville, and i'd never put a roof over wrigley! the new twins stadium designs are gorgeous, and the design wouldn't be this nice with a roof. trust me.

Good for you, Joel! To have a position like you do and get paid well - be able to go to all the sporting events you choose to - be around family and friends in your own home state - it doesn't get any better than that!!!!!!!

Cleveland, Boston, NY, Chicago are NOT Minneapolis. Did you notice the weather here through mid-May? Plan on starting every season with a 3 week road trip.
Gaborik wouldn't get more than $5mil on the open market. And I personally wouldn't want him, even at that price.

and 0 points in the 6 playoff games. Hmm, which are more important?

he is worth a good deal to get you to theplayoffs but can't be counted on to get you NEAR the Cup, unless he buys you tickets with his huge salary.

Without him, you won't even get into the playoffs. He was not the same player in the playoffs, but this has not been his standard. He was one of the highest scoring players in the 2003 playoffs. To blame the '08 playoff loss on Gaborik is completely short-sighted. No one showed up for that series except for Rolston and Koivu and they had plenty of PP chances that turned into nothing. They would not have won the division without Gaborik. He's a very special player that will continue to improve

I did say he will get you into the playoffs. He seems to be too weak, either physically or mentally or both, for the playoffs. yes, last year was an aberration with 0 pts but he was soooo unimpressive that it really sticks with him and teams saw how to stop him. Be physical and never let him get any space. Without bodyguards in the playoffs as in the regular season, teams can afford to be more physical with him and it really showed.

No roof on the new stadium so we can smoke away in the seats. That's the price of progress folks!

No roof in Minnesota shows thinking which spells lack of quality to save money it has nothing to do with the outdoor bleeding hearts. Watch out for cigar and cig butts although they will be put out by the rain, sleet and snow in April and May.

BOO-HOO at least the Twins get a stadium. Why does a team facing contraction only a few years ago get a new stadium versus a team that spends millions to upgrade their roster get nothing.

Pawlenty is either a Packer fan or a ****. Either way they only have a few more years before the Vikings head to Los Angeles if a stadium isn't built. Which it won't be.

And then Minneota will have the boring Twins with a stadium stuck in a corner and a fan base crying 'cause the games are 'too cold'. The hapless Wolves and the one-and-done Wild.

Get over the lack of a roof on the baseball stadium already!!!! Talk about beating a dead horse, there is not going to be a roof, period. Baseball is to be played outdoors. If the fans here can't take a little weather then they can stay home and watch on TV. Enough of the whinning!!!!!!!!!! I couldn't care less what Whitey Herzog or anyone else thinks.

Hey, Rick! Why don't you take the roof off of your house so that you can enjoy the beautiful outdoors.

One other thought. I personally don't believe in global warming, but let's just say for the sake of argument that it really is real. Well, who wouldn't want a nice roof over their heads when the temperature is going to routinely be in the low 100s in the future? And it would cut down on the dust from all of the frequent duststorms and tornadoes.
