So there's the important lesson for the public - if you want to reduce your jail time for committing a crime while being a drunk, high, jack-hole, remember to cap it off by killing a family member.

3 Even though I sorta stole the concept of the comment, good decision Perkins, and good advice to Klaseus, his road ahead will be no picnic. |

2 Interesting coming from St Paul. I once lived in St Paul, not long enough ago for me. I had people wandering through my yard all the time tresspassing, likely armed, dealing drugs and such. I see the violence in St Paul in the news daily, and also the catch and release of these TRULY VIOLENT ruthless, unrepentant offenders back to the streets. This happens EVERYDAY where you live. This person is nothing like the people your courts release to the streets daily. I do NOT know Klaseus, even though I know many people in our area. What you metro simpletons never will realize is that people like us live here to be away from people like you. This guy is not the man who pistol whipped the 80 year old woman, nor is he the Evans family thug that beat a man at Valley Fair protecting his daughter, nor is he any of the dirtbags I read about everyday on these forums. He made a horrible mistake, he will live with every breath he takes from here forward. If being stupid is criminal all the liberals in Minnesota would be in jail already,,, oh wait, maybe some are already and that's why they release drug dealers and rapists after a few months... You need to learn to know the difference between a criminal act with malice, and a horrible mistake. ok, rant over,,,,, next... |

2 Ah yes, St Paul heard from again. My, not only has St Paul violent crime been in the news several times daily, now advice on children and weapons coming from the very same place!! Excuse me if I choose to find your opinion invalid. We live worlds apart even if it's only 50 miles. |

1 as far as the mom who stated she would never allow her child around anyone with guns-in MN we have many families, mine included, where hunting is an activity that they do together. My children, who have attended gun saftey classes, annually go hunting with my dad-it is our tradition and using saftey techniques and common sense, it is a wonderful, safe activity to enjoy with grandpa. Education is the key-ignorace leads to accidents |

1 But I doubt if that would impress a judge enough to give me only 30 days in jail. This man CHOSE to take his little boy with him hunting while he was on drugs. I have no doubt he feels guilty about it just as I would feel horrible guilt if my driving recklessly killed someone. But since when do we base sentences on how badly the person convicted feels? Mitigating factor yes but sole factor no. |

Single Man Hating Mother, And I presume that you are not relying on a man or the "system" for your existence?? All of it carried on the back(s) of a child(ren)??. All because you have a womb?? If so you are nothing but an organic petri dish. |

1 So you're saying that if a woman got high and took her little boy hunting then shot and killed him that she wouldn't be prosecuted? I think you're wrong. |

Why are people surprised??? The "MN. NICE CATCH and RELEASE System is working well. Look at several other articles, the guy that killed his 9 year old son while hunting with booze and pot got 30 days work release, the kid that killed a person while driving drunk only got a year and has since violated his probation numerous times,he just got sentenced to tx. I hope all you bleeding heat liberals are proud of what you turned MN. into!! I also hope that a terrible crime effects you so that you can truly realise what you have created!! The other articles are in the trib.
