I do like that concept, after all your body has just spent many hours attempting to eject something that took 9 months of getting used to. A state of euphoria could well be construed as 'orgasmic'.

Andrew, wonderful ideas! It's just like I will have an orgasm, so to speak, when we get rid of and eject Republicans in the next election. You are a wonderful and creative person.

I have an orgasm every time I take a nice big poop. It is such a wondeful experience.

Thinking about you engaged in anything sexual, has caused unjust, irreversible mental anguish.

But it IS sexual! It has all the same hormonal releases as when a woman has sex. You really need to see this film and then tell me and everyone else that childbirth in "NOT" part of a woman's sexual life! Without hearing the experts you are giving an unprofessional opinion. It truly is sexual unless of course you give yourself over to medicine! If you numb yourself and let them cut your baby out of your body! Then of course it is no longer sexual. SEE THE FILM....Then check back here! I just ordered a copy as a gift and I have one that I purchased at the 1st screening in NYC. I see something new each time I watch it. You will too.

A woman's sexual life is a VAST and DEEP part of her inner mind, body and soul. It's not just about getting laid or bent over the table! Sensations that rush through a woman in many ways can be part of her sexual life. She doesn’t even need to be on her back, she can be shopping, working or walking and have a rush that can be considered orgasmic. Way too many of you have shut your mind off to the vast and endless part of your sex life if you are so opposed to the thought of an orgasmic birth you are cheating yourself out of an opportunity that is truly available, you just need to know it exists!

I watched a documentary on this 10 years ago. You aren't the first to claim it. I had both of my boys completely natural, no drugs. So my opinion may not be what you consider professional, but it is experience based. I think you may not realize how people take you when you compare something involving a child to having a sexual orgasm. It is difficult for anyone to process like that. Its a biological orgasm maybe a better way to word that, instead of sexual orgasm. IMO

You were responding to the guy who said that when the mom gets too exhausted to push, it gets dangerous...

From my experience, I can agree. I was induced (damn pitocin is nasty stuff) and my labor was four days long....the doctor's did not give me pain meds until the third day, because they were afraid they would slow/stop the labor.

After the epidural I fell into an exhausted sleep. I was woken six hours later by a nurse who told my my baby's heartbeat was dropping with each contraction, and that I would have to have a c-section or lose him.

Afterwards, we found out what happened. My hips are mildly deformed, and would not allow a baby his size to pass through (he was 8 lbs, 8 ozs). My body, sensing this, had not gone into labor - and when the pitocin forced contractions, my body responded by reversing the cervix dilation.

When Jonathan was born, he had an indention going entirely around his head - starting at the forehead and going around. The pitocin had caused such strong contractions that he was being forced out of me despite not being fully dilated. My cervix had tried to close around his head! And I can tell you, I was able to feel them pull him back in during the c-section, despite the drugs. The female body is NOT designed to have a baby pulled back in.

About ten minutes after he was born, my heart stopped from the stress and strain of four days of labor and a major surgical procedure. I was fortunate that the on-call doctor who did the emergency c-section was a level-headed woman who immediately took steps to revive me. Needless to say, I chose her as my OB-GYN when I got pregnant again. My other two deliveries were also C-sections, by necessity....but there was no induced labor, and I came out of both healthy, and so did my other two sons, James and Jacob.

Um, is that response supposed to make sense?
The song "I am Woman" by Helen Reddy, circa 1974.

Part of the lyrics are

I am woman, hear me roar
In numbers too big to ignore.....

Orgasms are orgasms! Biological or sexual. I don't believe they are taking place as the baby is passing through the vagina, it is earlier when pressure and surges of hormones are combined with comfort and the peace and pleasure of the moment! It not sex, it is sexuality. SEE THE FILM!

You're coming across so disgusting to the average person. And I don't disagree with you at all, I'm explaining to you why people think this isn't acceptable. You are explaining this in a way that people will not understand.
You don't have to accept my opinion. I was only trying to help. Sexual and biological ARE different.
