So one at the port authority is trying to pass some gas here. They have said numerous times the levels of methane are 37 times the minimum explosive level(typically stated 'LEL' or Lower Explosive Level) Since the minimum LEL for methane is 5% of the air volume, 37x5 is 185...It is physically impossible to have a concentration of 185% gas in air. Aside from the obvious disregard for personal property rights the port authority has probably fabricated much of the rest of their arguments as well. As the port authority is sitting on probably a 100+ acres of abandoned property they can't unload/develop, one wonders how, and why they are trying to illicitly acquire even more.

the amount of money the port authority has thrown at this should shock everyone. Taxes are higher then ever here and they waste money by the bucket loads by hiring attorneys and consultants so they can see how much power they have. The head of the port authority should be fired. Check your vote people. Cause if you live in MN its YOUR money they are wasting. And trust me when I say WASTING!

"The Port has a reputation for taking abandoned industrial brownfields in St. Paul and turning them into productive business parks." Can you document any of these "productive business parks"?

I think this has more to do with the type of jobs these are. This is physical labor and dirty work, not high tech that the politicians like to show off. The Port Authority will use the pollution smokescreen to replace this company in about ten years with some "clean" jobs that will be heavily subsidised by the city. The Port Authority always follows it's politicians bidding. Typical St. Paul stupidity and why every business that moves there needs government help or they would go to a more hospitable city.

I find it absolutely sickening that our city, whose tax base is shrinking daily, has the nerve to kick out a large tax paying business. In a way I hope the business does go and prosper in a town that wants them. This town is really getting to funky for me.

They are doing this business a favor, take the money and run. Their is no future in this city and these fascist techniques are just more proof of that. This city will soon be a cold Detroit. Take the 3.8 million and invest in a laddered 10 year no AMT muni portfolio. Weigh it heavily in the short years. Bonds rates will soon climb surpassing rates in the Jimma Carter era because nobody with any sense will expect for this state to pay them back. Statism is on the rise, this city will become even less attractive to businesses and construction will soon grind to a halt. Sell your existing equipment and invest it in demolition equipment. That's the only construction projects that will exists in the coming years as all the vacant buildings will soon become decapitated and unsafe. As this country and state continues to slide more and more American's with turn into hat in hand democrats empowering these Marxist and exacerbate our continued downfall. It was fun while it lasted, I just thank God I got mine. You Lefty pukes responsible for electing these Communists better make room, your kids will soon be moving back in with you, enjoy.

Hey, there is a lot of land north west of 694 and 35W that is waiting to be developed... That is after New Brighton kicked out all of the businesses in that area because they didn't fit their vision for the city. That is costing those residents a ton of money!

I wonder how many times this company has rented equipment to companies that was used on eminent domain projects. Did they have such a social mind then, or were they just happy to have the business? This law has probably benefitted this company more than most. Now that is has become victim of the law the company doesn't like it. Pretty interesting situation.

Umm.. didn't you read the article, stated 1. that methane levels were not affecting other areas, and that the lead was contained and not seeping into the groundwater. Makes it pretty clear that there is not a problem with the land but with the Port Authority.

Very well stated. I am sick to death of left wing pukes running this town into the ground. The city is run by democrats from the mayor down. Years before this business owned the property it was a dump and became polluted. This business inherited the problem and it sounds like they've contained the problem. Get a clue Also, who provides oversight for the City Council? Oh yeah, we're supposed to. The Citizens of St. Paul are failing their jobs by not voting these morons out of office. This company has work on some very important projects to help build the city, they pay taxes and operate within all the Minnesota pollution control agency laws. The Port has hired a third party to do there own 'special' test. The port should focus on the empty lots they still can't get anyone to buy for $1.
