No, actually a Jainist is one who respects the totality of life to such an extent that they step carefully so that they don't kill insects and they eat only fruit that has fallen from a tree. They won't even pick the fruit themselves or harvest vegetables. Somehow I don't think you respect life to that extent.

Taxed out:
I think the wasting of human life is the major problem, along with the narasistic(sp?)and such self importance by some that really believe that some are more equal than others. I think.

Then, Archie, you should be for embryonic stem cell research. They are trying to make sure nothing is wasted from the fertility clinics. Its the only responsible thing to do.

Wow:
I can't control what other values people have, all I can say is this no way that I personally would take part in "body parts" therapy to extend my life, but like I say I am from another school and maybe there is a benefit there on ECR but for me there is a line I will not step over. Just kind of scared of the "Big guy" and besides no one has appointed me judge and I sometimes forget how strong words can be when a commenter (me) remains faceless and pour's out words. This is a most serious topic, lotta emotions.

Glad that you have admitted that there will rpobably be benefits from ESC research. I respect that you wouldn't want to use them. However, a 5 year old with Type 1 Diabetes might feel differently than a guy who is getting up there in age. I hope that I can cure the kid and maybe the thousands like me, with MS. If you have grandkids, they might benenfit or your great grand kids. I just want to give them every chance to live to full happy life. ESC have potential to give that full life to people who are breathing thinking PEOPLE. They allow us to use up what has been disacarded for decades.

Wow: Thank you for understanding, "as the twig bends ,so grows the tree" My son was just diagnosed with ALS, sometimes we have to play the cards we are dealt. In 1980 I read in a Newsweek magazine that the French were using the cells in facial make up to regenerate the cells old wrinkled faces........ I hope science can keep som dignity in waht they are attempting to do.
