Woodbury should build more strip malls and Townhouse communities. Yes, this will solve everything. It will bring jobs to the community and housing for all! ohhhhhhhhhhhh the Eutopia we will have.

I cant believe we sit around and let these leaders just tax tax tax us and push us around like this cause they cant manage the money we give them already. Enough is enough people! Rise up and take back your City, County, State and Country !!! Stop the madness!!

I live 6 blocks from Woodbury, and I see the huge Michele Bachmann yard signs there as I drive through that burg. Isn't she against all this taxation? Isn't she already in office? If such an anti-tax maven is already in charge there, why are the taxes going up? Just curious.

They always resort to cutting services and making you pay more for nothing. Nice way to run a government.

I moved out of Woodbury due to the taxes levied by the city. I felt residents did not object....."I"ll pay, just don't bother me with the issues." I realize this is not all residents.

Michelle Bachmann signs in Woodbury? There is hope for the city. When I lived there for 13 years, the majority of signs were democrats. I watched the city council minutes and saw how they voted.

The malls and town houses were given Tax Increment Financing. This a program to provide business incentives to large companies to build, property taxes deffered for 20 years.

They get smart and cut positions including building inspectors as development is dead. Then they add three new maintenace positions for the new development at Bielenberg. I'm not against sports facilities, but I bet the addition of these three positions wasn't mentioned when they approved the park project. Another example of government "smoke and mirrors"

I used to think it was just a Republican thing but even in like Mpls. they continually slash services/schools,etc. while the taxes go up. So why do taxes have to go up all the time? Well they have to keep up those cushy administrative salaries plus pay for the nanny state programs the govt employees work for.
Conservatives are right in saying that socialism doesn't work. All it ends up is a bureacratic govt collecting fees/taxes to pay for the increasing salaries of the public employees while the services the taxes are supposed to support goes down. Kind of like an "Enron" run business put under the soft label of 'for the people'.

Woodbury is experiencing what most all cities are suffering from, Dumb Political Leadership or simply put, DPL. It's amazing how they can just cut
these jobs now with out a problem, it may be the fact these jobs where never needed in the first place. What a waste of tax payer money and the tax dollar waste will continue until people smarten up and STOP electing INCUMBENTS.

A few years back Woodbury was voted one of the best communities in the country. They let new housing starts escalate dramatically causing unchecked growth problems which in turn surface as budget problems at the first economic down turn. There are 100's of homes for sale in Woodbury today. I would say the real estate market will fall another 10-15% in Woodbury. So a $500,000 home today will sell at a maximum of $450,000 AND they want to raise taxes! Rapid uncontrolled growth = pain for current residents. Enjoy the pain!

True, there are many homes for sale in Woodbury, but probably not anymore than anywhere else. It still has a nice quality of life.
Regarding the layoffs and tax increases:
--I hope the building inspectors they're laying off are the ones that rubber-stamped the poor window and stucco jobs!
--The parks comment is spot on. The Woodbury Athletic Association and the Parks Department suckered the public in to building all these fields for the WAA's exclusive use. How about raising fees for their use rather than sticking it to the taxpayer? At the city didn't buy in to the hockey center boondoggle.
--Does the Woodbury Police Dept really need all of these Ford Expedition SUVs to conduct their patrols?
--How about adding the city "environmentalist" and some of the other bogus worth positions to the chopping block?
--Put a moritorium on the construction of roundabouts. It'll save road construction funds and drop residents' collision insurance premiums.
