Certainly your experience with pre-x is sympathetic, and I would agree that health care reform is due. I just don't believe the plan advocated by Obama, however, is the correct prescription, or that most Americans will get better quality care.
BTW, FEP is shorthand in the insurance industry for the federal employees health benefits program.
I do have to bust your balls for calling abortion coverage routine. That just sounds sinister and cruel; Not something a civilized society would or should tolerate
The abortion issue is a point of contention in discussion of the Health Care bills. At the present time federal law prohibits the government from funding abortions (with the exceptions noted). Any health care bill which requires federal expenditures will have to carry the same prohibition.

At present, 46 percent of American health insurance policies cover elective abortion. I'm putting my money on the hunch that elective abortion will not be funded under the healthcare bill as a concession for its passage and health insurance companies will no longer be paying for elective abortions. Without this concession, I don't think a healthcare bill will survive.

This is so much fun. I love watching the Republi-thugs squirm. They simply don't get the fact that Health Care is something that will happen, no matter how many people carrying the Conservative Talking Points show up at these meetings.

It is especially interesting how many Republi-thug Operatives claim to be "just normal citizens" and then go into fanatical rants about taking away freedoms.

Get over it folks. That chapter has been written, and the book is already published.

Happy days are here again...

Thats because you have the typically low IQ of a typical Obama supporter."

What are you replying to?

Like I said before obama, FACTS, give us FACTS. Right now yer tryin to sell us on a promise of changing health care. Well my health care is just fine and I understand others don't have it because of several reasons. However you've stated that the working and overtaxed people are gonna have to pay for it. What we're upset about is you aren't giving any specifics about it. Let me put this in simple terms for ya, we are NOT gonna sign a blank check for this so called health bill without FACTS! On a lighter note obama, you really missed your calling as a used car salesman. I mean you could sell a drowning man water.

When have we seen this before? Oh, yes- Medicare:
"Defenders of the public option quickly point out that Kennedy’s American Health Choices Act promises to pay health care providers 10 percent more than Medicare. But as the Cato Institute’s Michael Tanner noted at Cato@Liberty,“When Medicare began, proponents promised it would reimburse at the same rate as insurance. That promise didn’t last long.” In fact, in his letter to Kennedy and Baucus, Obama explicitly endorsed the idea of setting mandatory physician and hospital reimbursement rates through the Medicare Payment Advisory Commission. In other words, the payments would no longer be merely advisory."
Government doesn’t exist to turn a profit, nor does it face competition. That’s why, in part, government operates so inefficiently. We put up with that in certain areas, like the military, because we don’t want private groups arming themselves with tanks, bombers, and armies and navies. In most other areas, we prefer the private sector, as competition usually gets us the best products and services at the best prices.
Government exists to service its interests, at least in its present form. Mostly, it serves to further itself. Any government bureaucracy that sees danger in competition will work to eliminate it. The dynamic in health-care plans would not be government making private insurers “more honest”, but in squeezing them out of the marketplace to create a monopoly. Since government doesn’t have to show a profit to exist, it will simply low-ball the other insurers on price until they all drop out of the health-care field. In an ironic way, it’s similar to how Standard Oil built its monopoly, which the government had to bust in order to get real choice and competition in the gasoline market.
The absolute goal is single-payor system, which is the industry term for fully-socialized medicine.
The thing that killed Hillarycare was letting the general public see the fine print. Obama knows this, which is why the most disturbing parts of the plan are being kept under wraps until the last minute; in fact, many of the final provisions of the plan will be decided upon AFTER passage. It is also being tacked on to a budgetary bill, which only requires 51 votes (instead of the usual 60) for it to pass. You can bet that there will be NO LOOPHOLES for private industry to exploit, as the goal is total capitulation to the federal mandate.
Excellent, well-thought out post. Thank you. The truth is refreshing on here.

Since you're an incredibly bright guy, maybe you can explain to me how printing trillions of dollars will have a positive effect on the economy.

I'm just a caveman. I only remember when Carter tried to do it and the interest and inflation rates doubled and suddenly the average American couldn't afford a house. Maybe you could do some high falutin' MATH for us primitive (BSME, MSME, 30-year engineer) cave-people. Keep it simple, I don't want to get confused.

You are the poster child for the arrogant, not very bright liberal. Who do you think you are, the dictator or something? God you're deluded, it's frightening.

Hitler's IQ was between 145 and 150. You mention documented...show it or shut up peon. I believe after reading many of your posts, you are lucky if your IQ is close to 90.

From your inability to form a cogent point-to-point argument or a fully developed syllogism, I don't think you're in a position to judge anyone's IQ.

However, if you tell me where to send them, I'll forward the copies of my transcript and test results.

The president doesn't order money to be printed. That's a function of the Federal Reserve. If you look at a $1.00 bill, you'll note that it's a Federal Reserve Note. The Fed governs the amount of money in circulation and orders currency from the Treasury Department.

"The Federal Reserve System is an independent government institution that has private aspects." --Wikipedia

Of the present Federal Reserve board of governors, one member was appointed by Obama, four were appointed by Bush, and there are two vacancies.

I doubt that the Fed is ordering trillions of dollars to be printed at this time.
