On Rev. Wright, and context
Nobody is more effusive in praising the government of the United States than the crackpots who condemn it for its complex plots of manipulative destruction.

I have a nice conspiracy theory for you, Joe. The Reverend Wright has recently been bought and paid for by either the RNC or Hilary & Co. and Obama is about to become a footnote.
So you should probably write the Reverend a nice big "Thank You" note. |

Oh yeah, it makes way more sense that a rogue religious sect pulled off the 911 bombings.........

You're right Joe.
So is Rev. Wright, even if he is full of himself and very cracked on a few issues. There were 150 years of slavery under the watchful eye of the US Government or it's precedents. Sad but true nonetheless. It was often justified by the religious thinkers of the day so where to find religious expression as a man of African descent? My own "Black" church. Another 100 years of oppression/second class citizenship by the same government. Where to find hope when much in government seeks to less overtly but almost as powerfully quash it? The "Black" Church. I would be a bit **** at my government's actions too as they miss the mark. Then again, I'm a libertarian leaning Republican so that comes naturally. O.k., so let's say we've got it right in the Country for 50 years now - the laws and the opportuntites are as good as any Country in the world anyways. Can we all, and I mean ALL, let go of the bitterness of what was or should have been and transition into what the future can hold: "We hold these truths to be self evident, that all men are created equal, endowed by their Creator with ..." Dec of Independence "A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another." Jesus What a beautiful place. |

Lewis and Fully Awake,
Your posts are just more proof that what Joe is saying is true. The conspiracy theorists and more of the hate-America crowd are very much alive and well here in Minnesota. Good luck. |

On another note - my own pet peeve - I'm not "White", I'm beige. I've never met a black "Black" either, more typically brown or what Rev Wright and Obama are and what nearly all beiges aspire to,****. Incorrect shades of color are poor words to describe people.

If Obama was white, this wouldn't even be news. Now go find your thinking cap. Good luck. |

I think the Wrev Wright has gotten ampped up because of the prospect of, like the Rev Al, and the Rev Jesse, risk loosing their main gig: Victimization.
How credible can they be, as they preach to the flock (and anyone else who will listen/ support them) that they are being kept down by the man. It's been tough enough for Wrev Wright, what with that good looking couple in the second row- Ivy league education, 7-figure income, well known politician....but should one of the flock get elected prez, then he risks loosing the money tree. |

Its probably good that political correctness no longer shields ignorant hate-mongers such as wright. The concern I have is that him and his ilk have shaped thousands of minds, and there are many who believe every word he is said. He is certainly not alone--just brought to light because of obama.
Once someone has been indoctrinated in his way of thinking, they will never be able to see America as anything but a hostile and evil country, and they can never be reasoned with. And much of the MSM promote the notion that America is a flawed and racist country--only talking about the negative and never the positive. They are simply wright lites--polished and more slippery. |

Let's say that it was learned that John McCain's pastor was a raving lunatic white supremacist. THAT wouldn't be a week's worth of headlines? Republicans are roundly thrashed for merely speaking at Bob Jones University. Maybe it's time for YOU to think before you embarrass yourself. |
|
I have two questions: 1> What do YOU think happened? 2> How many moons orbit your homeworld? |

BillB - You reteric is ridiculous. I'm so tired of people screaming "go to africa". How about if we start telling people "kiss my black **** " - still we'd get no where. Your comment only proves what Rev. Wright is trying to justify. |

I think this whole ordeal is unfortunate for Obama because he has now lost a very very good friend, and America (media) is making it seem as if Obama must be like Rev. Wright - this is sad. I think Rev. Wright is an excellent speaker and very entertaining when it comes to comparing "differences". Not too many speakers can keep an audience in awe like he can. Admit it, he is an interesting person. Not only because of the controversial material he speaks of but because he is intelligent. I don't agree w/everything the man says, but he does speak the harsh truth and a certain group of Americans don't like to hear that. Then someone says to Black people "Let it go". Most folks of color have "let it go" but don't further opress people of color by telling them to stop talking about the history that has never been justified and no one til this day in our wonderful government has even offered an apology for slavery (which I think would still only be a slap in the face if no reparations were to come w/it.) But anyway - I continue to support old America the Beautiful. I love this place, freedom for everyone I say.
I wonder if Hillary Clinton or John McCain have any anti-American friends? Even if they did, why should we care? No president in this day in time can get in office and start making radical changes and get away with it. |

Did you ever hear of David Duke? That was in the news for a few weeks and he was not running for president. How is it that the democratic party, the party of Senator Robert Byrd (ex KKK grand wizard) and George Wallace this is one of his direct quotes “ In the name of the greatest people that have ever trod this earth, I draw the line in the dust and toss the gauntlet before the feet of tyranny, and I say segregation now, segregation tomorrow, segregation forever." is the party for minorities? I will never understand that. Can someone with some insight from a minority group enlighten me? Another question: How is Ted Kennedy not only tolerated but is a leader in this party? |

Is it possible that this is political theater? IIRC, he was once an advisor to Obama's campaign. Now he has become a millstone around Obama's neck. Listening to the latest rants from Wright, they just don't sound as free flowing and natural to him as his sermons did. I think he was told to do this in order to put some distance between them. Given the short memories and forgiveness factor of Americans, he can be welcomed back with open arms after the election.

Embarrass myself? You wish. Now go to the laundromat and wash those sheets. |

Yep! Mr. Lincoln freed the slaves! Thanks, Frankie! |

He is right on certain issues....but we've heard it again and again and again. Matter of fact I've heard it since I was born 26 years ago. Knowing and understanding the history of this country, slavery, and the injustices done to African-Americans is one thing, but like many of our so-called leaders there is a lot of complaining and no solutions offered. I would love for Rev. Wright to stand up and attack our government for perpetuating the poor conditions of blacks and other groups through the expansion of the welfare system. No, we must promote the same "I'm a victim" speech I've been hearing for the past 26 years. I don't want people to forget or get over this country's history. It's our history and we have to deal with it, but that's where it should end. Just my thoughts... |
|
What kind of an answer was that? Cybear was right, you are embarrassing yourself. Go wash your own sheets and grow up a bit, come back when you can carry on an intelligent, give and take debate. Or take another stab at answering my questions. |
